  1. Untreated acid reflux can cause Esophageal cancer. My dad has to be checked yearly to be sure cancer cells have not formed. His esophagus has deteriorated some. You have to weigh the risk/benefit from both sides.
  2. I got the new chewable Mint Centrum multi vitamins and the viactiv chocolate calcium/d3 chews. They aren't bad

    Liquid Protein

The PDCAAS score for this is 4 out of 100 possible points. Which means you are only going to get 4% of the listed protein absorbed into your body.

    Liquid Protein

My doctors office said that the body can't absorb more than 30g of protein at a time. Better make sure you're able absorb all of it before you waste your money.
  5. The weirdest thing I've noticed since my surgery is that I can't gargle anymore.

    Smoking tes?

They can do a simple swap of your cheek or a blood test. They do this for life of insurance as well.

    Surgery is tomorrow!

My surgery was delayed from 12:30 to 5:30, didn't get into my room until 10:30 pm on Tuesday. Spent all of Wednesday sleeping. Dr kept me a second day because of this and the hernia repair. Not hungry at all so getting broth down is a challenge. Can't wait to be home.

    Running after surgery..

Wow, thanks! This has giving me hope. The first race around here is at the end of April. He said that course is a little difficult but I think I'm going to go for it. (It's a trail run)
  9. That sucks. No advise other than file an appeal with your insurance.. Take it to the head honcho.

It goes by so fast. I started this process in June

    Surgery is tomorrow!

I'm right there with you. I've started to pack my hospital bag. Getting my forms together, cooking my broth, trying to stay busy. It's not helping with my mind wandering.

I'm the office manager for our family business. I also have a custom cake business on the side, I've taken a step back from this to concentrate on my health. I did have a cake order last weekend ( on my pre-op diet) and I wasn't tempted to taste test. This was a big victory. I would usually eat part of the cake tops and leftover icing.
  13. My kids bought me a sweatshirt for Christmas 2014 that I can't fit into..I will be wearing it this year! The car parking thing is me! I hate trying to get out or having to crawl to the passenger side. Of course going shopping for normal clothes and no longer wearing granny panties! ☺️
  14. Aaaaaggggghhh ok I feel better, well not really. Its hard to believe that the day I've worked for, longed for is almost here. My nerves are gone.,haven't been sleeping well. Tomorrow I'm off work with plenty to do but I doubt my mind will let me focus.
  15. Welcome. ???? Congrats on the new baby! You sure do have a lot going on and we are all at different stages so you can get plenty of information. My surgery is Tuesday and I will say the process yet long, has gone by fast.
  16. Nerves are setting in.. I just want to be done and home. Spending tomorrow making Soups to be ready. Freezer is stocked with pops plenty of shakes and yogurt.. Hurry up Tuesday

    Struggling with pre op diet

I agree..today for instance we went to the movies...I'm a popcorn person..but today I brought in my "purse" with yogurt, pudding & celery sticks. It was something to munch on and I didn't cheat ????

    Struggling with pre op diet

I carry my lunch box with me everywhere. It's filled with things I can eat during my 2 weeks. I imagine I'll be carrying it forever now. It looks like a purse. It has helped me tremendously keeping on track because I'm not tempted to order from the menu or not go out to eat all together.

    Running after surgery..

How soon after surgery did you start running? There's a big race in May.. I may start with the 5k By big I mean there's a 5k, 10k, half and doing all three together

    Pre Op Diet

Just keep in mind too few calories can be just as bad. I'm getting 800-1000 cal a day with about 100 grams of protein

    Pre Op Diet

Every doctors pre-op is different. My pre-op diet was 4 shakes a day (2 with milk & 2 with another liquid) if I mixed them with Water I could have 5. I could also eat 6 servings of s/f pudding, s/f Jello, unflavored applesauce, 1 cup raw veggie, oatmeal and yogurt a day. The day before surgery I can eat normal till 4 pm, then I have to drink 32oz mirlax over 4 hrs starting at 5 pm. That's the only thing that doesn't sound pleasant.. I think I'd rather have the 2 day clear liquid diet. The plus... I've lost 11 lbs on my 2 week pre-op
  22. Holy crap guys, it's almost game time freaking out a little
  23. I'm still pre-op but during my 7 months of education classes they taught us about this. It is very common to become Lactose intolerant. They recommend switching to Lactaid. You may eventually be able to drink milk again but they also warned that there could be other foods that you could no longer be able to eat. That we should introduce new foods one at a time.
  24. I find that I'm not hungry.. I have to force myself to eat. It's very odd. I can't wait for next week to have more choices.. 2 weeks of unjury is ???? That is good for you, that your not hungry. My head has been hurting for 2 days since I'm eating so little. I'm just so nervous / scared that I'm not making the right decision. It was hard in the beginning..but this is week two for me. It hasn't been all sunshine lol
