  3. I got the centrum vitamints. They're actually not bad. It helps with the bitter taste after swallowing all of my crushed pills.
  4. I had to ask for extra blankets (4) in the hospital (that's when it started) I have slept with a fan on FOREVER and can't anymore..this is fun lol. I was sleeved Jan 12th

How many days off work ?

I took off one week, I'm suppose to go back tomorrow. 1 week post op, still hurting pretty bad with one incision (the one they removed the stomach through) I may play it by ear this week and take it day by day. Definitely not ready for tomorrow.

    HELLO JANUARY SLEEVERS!

Wow, I was on a cleanse prior to surgery to make sure there were no solids left in the bowel. Surprised they didn't have you do that.
  9. The one that prescribed the meds. My PCP prescribed mine, she took me off the metformin before surgery and my surgeon confirmed that I shouldn't take it. @@casper_808

    HELLO JANUARY SLEEVERS!

how did you get your bowels to wake up? I'm 2 days post-op with no movement. I didn't do anything, to be honest there shouldn't be anything in there that should need softened. It was about 5 days post op that they woke up.
  11. Talk to your doctor about the metformin. Since it is a time release medicine you may have to go onto something else. Have your symptoms improved after surgery?

    HELLO JANUARY SLEEVERS!

My sleeve was 1/12 my biggest complaint is the incision where they took out my stomach. I was having trouble getting my liquids in so I started to use a straw ????. It's going a lot easier now..but holy cow be prepared when your bowels wake up. ????
  13. My surgery was scheduled @ 12:30 on Tuesday. I arrived at the hospital at 10. Registered, taken back for my IV, vitals taken. Moved to the prep and holding area about 11am. The surgical nurse comes out about 11:30to tell me that there is a delay and we definitely will not be going back at 12:30. Hours go by, my butt is numb, my family is hungry and the I'm wondering what in the world could be taking so long., Is there complications? Are they ok? Not good thoughts to be having before surgery. Finally about 4 the surgeon comes out to tell me that they are preparing the OR and will be another 40 mins. Well they can't estimate very well, an hour and half later I'm wheeled into surgery. I "barely" wake up in recovery. I hear the nurse say "she's sound asleep". They wheel me to my room about 10:30. (No wonder I'm tired). I remember using the bathroom and sleeping all day Wednesday. That's it lol. The doctor came in late Wednesday to tell me that because I was still very sleepy and the hernia repair he was keeping me another day. Good thing, my ride had left. Who gets discharged after 8pm? Today I was able to walk and get some fluids and broth down. Ice pops are a God send at home. Looking forward to feeling better

    what to expect

Make sure you have your post-op food prepared as much as possible. If you're a side sleeper get extra pillows or a body pillow to help alleviate the pressure.

    Well, glad that's over.

@@proudgrammy If it were my dad he would've been gone. But everything I'd worked for was in my grasp so I put on my big girl pants and dealt with it lol. Not walking as much as I should, but I am sipping, sipping, sipping. Winters are not kind here and im not suppose to ride in a car yet. Trips around the house it is. Getting bored. One of my incisions hurts pretty bad when I move around but I'm holding off on pain Meds during the day so I can sleep at night. I know we're not suppose to b on the scale but I've lost since Tuesday . Hoping the 6lbs wasn't my stomach
  16. Have you started your protein supplements? I'm sipping on my shake, have been since 9. (It's 11 oz). Did they give you an incentive? (The breathing treatment). This will help get rid of the mucus from being put to sleep. I was breathing very shallow the couple days after surgery and my breathing has improved greatly and my coughs have been productive.

    Surgery is tomorrow!

My job is working for my family business answering phones/customer service. It's in my parents home. I have 3 weeks vacation (I've used 1) and 2 other people that work for me. So if I need to take a nap or relax a spell I will be able to. I still won't be able to drive yet but my daughter works there with me so she can drive me.
  18. cindyw41

    Pre Opp Supplements?

My doctor had me taking a multivitamin and calcium because the 2 week pre-op diet lacks nutrients.
  19. cindyw41

    Army

I would say no. Any branch requires you to eat a lot in a minimal time frame. Add the extra Protein and supplements we require and it just adds to the issues. You have to be completely honest on the health exam questions. If they find out you lied or omitted information that would not be pretty. Check Into grants

    Surgery is tomorrow!

I was in the hospital 2 days post surgery. Most stays are 1 day but because of the sleeping all day Wednesday and the hernia repair he kept me the extra day. Glad he did because I felt horrible Wednesday. I was able to walk the hospital yesterday and eat a little more. The dr was pleased and released me about 2. I'm due to go back to work on Tuesday but I'm not sure this will happen unless I have a major turn around. Sitting with my feet up feels too good lol
  21. 3 hr surgery & 3 hrs in recovery. I had robotic laparoscopic VSG with a hiatal hernia repair.

    Surgery is tomorrow!

I haven't walked much except for around the house. Can't drive anywhere yet and it's cold and rainy out. Clearly not thinking well with all the typos though lol
  23. It's not from eating unless you are seriously not following the program. Most likely your weight gain is from swelling/fluids from the hospital.

    Surgery is tomorrow!

How are you feeling today? Any changes? What kind of hernia did you have? Were you aware? Did he tell you it would be being fixed at this time? I too have a hiatal hernia. Haven't talked to my doctor yet about needing it fixed. I hope your day has gotten better and your tummy isn't so so tender. It's going to take some time. I think the pillow against you is a great idea! Try it! I have a feeling it's kinda like a CSection! Get well soon!! I had a hiatal hernia repair, I new it would be a possibility. He made the final decision once inside. I'm feeling better today, one of my incisions it hurting but I haven't taken much pain medicine. I slept with an extra pillow for support and it helped a lot. Thank you!
