cindyw41 replied to iamaredhed39's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've thought about doing this too. I just don't think I can get that much protein in now. -

1 week out and still in pain
cindyw41 replied to ad5707's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did your dr not send you home with pain meds? My dr gave me enough for a week. I still have some left over but I used them often that first week. -
At what point did you begin using straws again?!
cindyw41 replied to cal2okl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I couldn't get all of my liquid in without them. I started using them again on day 4. -
OK Ladies, kinda embarrasing question for you all
cindyw41 replied to Adina's_Journey's topic in The Gals' Room
I wasn't allowed to shave anything the day before surgery. I had a special wash to use the night before and the morning of. No mention of shaving down there at all. I started the day of surgery and they wouldn't even let me have a pad in the OR. I used a potty chair the first night then went to the bathroom with help the next day. No cath needed. -
All food tastes bad now.

I find the things I loved, I can't Stand the smell of. I'm using this time to try new flavors, spices and things out of my norm. -
Ok so my 14 days is tomorrow but I couldn't resist. I so longed for a "real meal"... I can't say enough about Shelly. She has tons of great ideas but the Ricotta bake is to die for (for me). Every bite was enjoyable and the recipe makes plenty for a couple days worth of lunches! Check her out http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html

Has anyone skipped a meal...
cindyw41 replied to Lisa_85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is my first week "eating" and this my biggest struggle right now. I'm not hungry and literally forget to eat. I am trying to be better because I know too few calories is just as bad as too many. I need to plan better, period. -

I want to try the recipe for the egg baked in a avocado half. Goodness knows I'll never finish it, but it looks so good. -
Need recipes for Soft foods stage
cindyw41 replied to Pinkgirl1234's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shelly's ricotta bake is amazing search for it. On her blog she has a page for the puréed phase. A lot of good recipes/ideas on there. I have a post here somewhere that has the link. I made egg salad and chopped it up real fine. -
You should talk to your dr. Have you been keeping track of your food intake? Like sodium intake? My daughter has issues with this. She is to increase her sodium intake so this doesn't happen. Sometimes her blood pressure is so low there isn't enough blood supply to her head when she stands or sits up and she gets dizzy. She has passed out and had to grab onto things to keep from falling. A cardiologist is who finally figured out what was going on after 2 years of specialist. Start there. neurocardiogenic syncope- this is what she was diagnosed with.

Hot wings were my weakness. I too have be thinking about them..but I'm a wimp when it comes to heat. I have to drink with them. Not even going to try lol. It's no secret that I love this blog.. She has helped me make it through the puréed stage thus far. A quick search brought up this recipe. I know it's a while off for me but maybe you can give it a try. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2015/01/healthy-snacks-for-big-game.html

Losing weight & finding other alarming things.
cindyw41 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So last night I'm getting ready for bed and felt a large lump on my sternum. Right above my breasts. I called first thing this morning and they fit me in this afternoon. It measures 3cmx 1 cm. I have to go for a sonogram to rule out anything serious. She thinks it is a lipoma. She said it could've been there for a long time but now noticeable since I've lost 25 lbs. ???? -
Puréed stage diet question/help
cindyw41 replied to TodayItEnds's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not really a need to chew if it's puréed. It mainly slows you down in eating and prepares you for the next stage of soft food. There has been a couple of times that I did not puree my food. I went out to lunch and had chicken..I cut it into small pieces and chewed it like crazy before I swallowed- no Issues. Second time I had a turkey breast and same thing, cut it up small and chewed like crazy. The chicken was served with a bourbon sauce and turkey was served with gravy on the side. Now I only ate a few pieces of each and I was full but the sauce and gravy helped it go down. -

4 pound weight gain on pre op liquid diet
cindyw41 replied to princess of Monaco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You must stay strictly on your liquid diet so you shrink your liver. My dr had an allowance of 5lbs weight gain during the 6 months pre-op phase but again every dr is different. If you are disciplined on the liquid diet and only have what is allowed you should be fine. I dropped weight quickly on it. -
I'm about 3 weeks out as well. I am always cold too. For some that has commented about this before, it's their new norm. I used to wear my sandals 365 days a year, snow and all. I am wearing shoes and socks now ????

Losing weight & finding other alarming things.
cindyw41 replied to cindyw41's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Update . I went for my sonogram today. The technician was a little alarmed at what she saw so she brought the radiologist in the room for him to look at this. Good news.. Apparently it is just scar tissue from a surgery I had as a child 30+ years ago. He wants me to repeat the test in 6 months just to be sure it hasn't gotten bigger. -
My dr said that they still use staples if the skin is too thin or they have trouble keeping it closed with the glue. I now look like I have a band of butterflies on my stomach.

Heard of Yes Whey Protein?
cindyw41 replied to rking's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Where did you find it? I saw it listed on Bariatric advantage and Amazon but both sites no longer sell it. I would have to wonder why they quit selling it if it was a good quality product. -
Heard of Yes Whey Protein?
cindyw41 replied to rking's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll have to check this out, but keep in mind even at 42g your body will only absorb 30-35 of a good protein source -
Metabolism/Beta Blocker
cindyw41 replied to Craig Wildi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my dr about this and she wouldn't switch me. She said she didn't see any difference with her patients. We shall see if my weight loss resumes now that I started walking regularly post op. I've been stuck at 185 for a week :/ -
Gallbladder removal during surgery?
cindyw41 replied to Paula'sVSGLife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Usually when someone is still thinking about it, it isn't a done deal. I was just agreeing that it's a good choice for you. For when your "I think I will get it done" turns to I've decided to get it done. I know the relief of having the gallbladder removed.
