  1. I had an upper GI the next morning to check for leaks. I couldn't drink anything till it came back clear. It wasn't bad, I had to drink a minimal amount of mix. It took less than 5 mins to complete the test. They didn't give me compression booties but they did give me socks. The only thing that surprised me was how tired I was, and how dry my mouth was. (Take lip balm) I was in the hospital 2 days

    Weak and Swollen :-(

Totally normal to be tired and weak on the liquid phase. 1. You're getting minimal calories 2. You're getting limited amounts of Protein 3. You just had major surgery I slept a lot the first couple of weeks and I still get tired easy. I went shopping yesterday for about 2 hrs and couldn't wait to go to bed. This will get better when I can get in more calories. I'm still struggling to get 600 in. The swelling.. I still think mine is swollen some (4 weeks out). I'm not puffy but my food restriction is pretty big still.
  3. I got one of my favorite rolls of sushi and requested no rice.. While it didn't stay together as normal, I was still able to enjoy it. All the favors.. It was wonderful but I was able to eat 3 slices when before I could eat the whole roll

    Gas?

My doctor has me on Zantac for 3 months PO. It has helped with the gas. I wasn't taking it for about a week PO and my stomach sounded like a thunderstorm lol
  5. Don't take gas strips. Medicine is regulated by your doctor. Most hospitals don't allow outside meds. Take an extra pillow. Slippers or slip on shoes, pj bottoms, lip balm, your bathroom toiletries. Phone charger. Loose clothes to wear home.

Sleeping/ sitting 90% walking 10% for the first 4 days PO.
  7. I had 2 of the 5 come off. That's when I found out I had staples. I was very careful not to lose the other 3 till I saw my doctor.

    One for the ladies!

I'm surprised some have been told to use tampons. There were signs all over hospital, in the women's changing rooms and bathrooms. I was also told by two different nurses that I couldn't. I started the day of surgery too. I would check with the hospitals policy.

    One for the ladies!

They short answer is no, no undies in the OR, no tampons..nada they don't even want pads. After surgery they will give you the hospital underwear with pads. You may be able to wear your own but I started in the hospital so I didn't have any pads with me.
  10. I have a centrum vitamint and calcium chewable twice a day and b12 at night
  11. 1 week, although I didn't take it every 4 hrs as directed. I took it as needed. I still have some left over.
  12. I was one that didn't loose anything for 2 weeks..week 2-3. Now I'm losing 1lb every couple days, I'm 4 weeks post op.

    Hernia repair

I was off 1 week, but the second week I was weak and tired. I took frequent naps. I never correlated the swollen esophagus, hernia repair with my eating issue. I'm having trouble eating 1/4-1/2 cup and most times it's just a bite or two. hoping if that's what it is, it gets better soon.

    Super Bowl: Starting Now!

I love football. Love it. But I found myself having severe high blood pressure from watching it (I'm a Ravens fan) <--- no explanation needed. lol but seriously I also found myself mindlessly eating wings, chips, salsa, ordering pizza exc. I stopped watching it, or being emotionally invested in it. (Our record this year) my Sunday snacking stopped way before the super bowl. So during the game I didn't snack, I watched until half time, then watched chopped. Oddly watching the food channel doesn't make me as hungry as watching men chase each other. lol

    Calories Post Op

I can only get about 400 calories in. I wish I could get more. I'm getting 60-70 grams of protein(shakes) but can only eat 1/4 cup-1/2 of food at a time. Not being able to eat at times is frustrating because I know I need calories. I have felt over stuffed and I don't want that feeling again, so I stop when I feel that little pain. This is my biggest struggle
  18. One of my biggest issues before surgery was eating cake tops and icing from cakes I would bake. I haven't scheduled many cakes post surgery because I wasn't sure how I would handle the temptation. I've made 3 cakes since surgery (4 weeks today) and I have no desire to taste even the icing. Luckily I have my recipes down to a science. This is a big step. I think for me the desire to be heathy and present is stronger than my desire to eat whatever I want.
  19. Add almonds to mine.. Felt sick for 2 hrs
  20. It took me about 1 hr to finish an 11 oz shake for the first few weeks. Now at 4 weeks out I can finish it in about 30. We're suppose to drink/eat slowly taking our time. If I drink too fast my sleeve lets me know.
  21. I didn't lose anything for 2 weeks. Now the scale moves about 1 lb every 3-4 days. Stay calm it will happen
