Herbalife and Weight Loss
cindyw41 replied to FindingSassy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to be a seller of Herbalife. It's a pyramid type of business, you buy into it while the person on top gets rich. While their product is tasty, it's a life style that isn't sustainable. Their model is 2 shakes and a meal a day. They don't teach you to eat right and push all of the vitamins and supplements that have amazing claims. They can say anything they want since the FDA doesn't regulate supplements. Be aware, do your research.. -

One week post op
cindyw41 replied to denniemiddlegirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor recommended it but I used a regular tea spoon. I couldn't see eating with a baby spoon.. Congrats on the weight loss.. Welcome to the loser bench -
My surgery was on a Tuesday, I went back to work the following Tuesday and it was too soon. I was so tired.

You've lost 2 lbs. Weight will fluctuate for many reasons. Some months I went above my beginning weight. For instance My beginning weight at the start of the 6 months was 212. My weight when I first saw the Dr (month 2 of the 6 months) was 215. At the time of approval my weight was 208. At the time of surgery I was 196. I am now 179. Just keep going, follow your Drs instructions and you'll be good

My doctor allowed a 5lb gain by the end of the 6 months. My weight fluctuated during that whole time period. (I ended up with a loss in the end) I was approved for surgery within 24 by my insurance.

Food satisfying after sleeve?
cindyw41 replied to bsanders's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find it more satisfying now. My tastebuds were awakened. -
My daily Water intake is goal 64 oz (about 2 liters) plus the extra liquids from food. Try increasing your water intake, if that doesn't work I'd call your Dr.

Can you see a difference ?
cindyw41 replied to scarlep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
actually first and second i lost 44 , and you can totally see a difference , why would I get new clothes I feel like you can see a difference wearing the same outfit before and after, your comment was a big rude!! I understand what she was saying. You post pictures asking others if others can see a difference. Most of the time people do that because they themselves are having a hard time seeing it. If we don't get smaller clothes it's hard to see where we are.. But in your case you see the difference and put this out there to get confirmation. -
Surgery on a "smaller" patient
cindyw41 replied to Lindsey Corbet Love's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! Oh my, I hate not being able to eat more than a couple bites before I hit that wall. liquid items (yogurt, soups) I can eat about 6 oz, but chicken or another type of Protein I can barely eat a couple pieces. It forces me to drink shakes which i'm so tired of. -
Bariatric Surgery Lawsuit - Regarding issues with the surgical staples
cindyw41 replied to Scottyd1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor had me sign a book, (not really but close)acknowledging all of the complications that "could" happen. I went in fully knowing what I was getting into. I have followed his instructions to the best of my ability, trust him whole heartily, trust his surgical history and positive outcomes and I'm glad he's been voted the best bariatric surgeon in my area/state. These article's purpose is to ignight fear and doubt in patients. Don't buy into the hype and trust your judgement. -

Surprised but if your doctor has approved you for the puréed stage. Check out this blog http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html the ricotta bake was my very first "real meal". Delish -
SLEEVED 9FEB16, 7 days in... what to eat?
cindyw41 replied to TxJP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on liquid for 2 weeks also. There are reasons why they set these guideline. Your stomach's staple line needs to heal. You shouldn't eat anything on the liquid phase that doesn't turn to liquid when you eat it. (Creamed soups, broths, Jello, pudding, yogurts (no fruit), ice pops, Powerade zero, crystal light.. Of course sugar free and light) adding food at this point isn't a good choice. Especially at only 7 days out. For your protein drinks: Add favors, dress them up. Pb2 is great for chocolate, sugar free syrups is also a great addition to any flavor. -
What happens if you don't return to your doctor visits after post-op?
cindyw41 replied to msjg46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're not going to see your nut or surgeon anymore, (with good reason) I would suggest joining a bariatric support group. These follow up appointments are designed to help us stay on track. -
Silly Question Time!
cindyw41 replied to Amelie2016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, the reason for the steps, 1. To give your stomach time to heal 2. To ease you back into eating, making sure to eat slowly and get enough fluids in. Some find (me included) that the amount of food you can eat is a lot less than 1/4-1/2 cup at a time. This requires me to drink more liquid Protein in order to get the required amount in. -
I watched skin tight the other day, on it the Dr said the amount of excess skin depends on how long you've been over weight. I'm already seeing new stretch marks. Pretty sure I'll have the belly hang and lose my boobs. (Btw: it's great show to showcase large amounts of excess skin from rapid weight loss..real people with real situations).

How did you feel 3 weeks out?
cindyw41 replied to jclumm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep water on hand, make sure you get in your protein and take naps when you can and you'll be fine. -
My incision that hurt me the longest was the one they took out my stomach through. It lasted about 2 weeks. I took my pain meds when it got too bad, then one day it was gone
-
You shouldn't be taking anything fizzy ..this could be the cause of the burn. Your stomach can't handle it.

My surgeon had me start taking my Vitamins during my 2 week surgery prep diet. He said we do not get enough nutrients during this phase and It helped. I started taking them again 3 days PO. They are chewable.
