How long til I can drive?

Driving depends on a couple things How long you take your Prescription pain meds when you are released from the hospital. You cant drive under the influence. I took my pain meds for about 4 days at home (6 days post op) Restrictions from your doctor. I couldn't drive for 2 weeks post op. Vitamins.. A Chewable Calcium and Multivitamin. (Can not be a gummy) I use Centrum Vitamints and Viactiv chocolate

    Feeling miserable

I love eating with family. For me it's not about what I am eating but being with the people that I love. During the liquid phase I had my lunch bag packed with things I could eat. I'd hate the thought of missing out because I couldn't "eat" with them. (Eat what they were eating). I wasn't bothered by the establishments that we visited for bringing my bag. Was it hard? yes, but change your focus. Focus on conversation, focus on the people you're around. Same applies for meals at home when takeout is brought in. Be strong, you got this.

    BP melds

My doctor said we will re evaluate my blood pressure meds at 2 months post op. Right now (6 weeks PO) My bottom number is borderline low blood pressure (62) and my top number is running high (142). My surgeon is already suggesting that she take me off the beta blocker. We shall see

    I am going to Hell....

I wish I could eat a 1/4 cup. We should be able to eat 1/4-1/2 cup at this stage. It won't stretch your sleeve. I think people get too afraid of that.

    Centrum vitamints are pretty good

    One month post op

I'm 6 weeks PO and have lost 19 lbs since surgery. 38 total. 196 Day of surgery.
  8. I understand the need to "break up" with a dr. Sometimes you just need to get it off your chest. I spoke to the office manager when I did this. Not that it changed anything in the office but they knew how I felt. I would write a letter, let all your frustrations and issues be known. Not that you need to do this to see another Dr, but for your peace of mind.

    Fluid intake

I know all of our surgeons and dietitians say different things, but mine said do not drink (or eat) more than 4oz in an hour as you run the risk of stretching your sleeve. And in the beginning you're more susceptible to stretching so I was terrified to put anything in. I was also told to avoid straws like the plague. But if those things are working for you, I say go for it!! I'm not getting in nearly enough fluids or Protein still at 5 weeks out so whatever you find that works for you, stick to it. Wow.. 4oz an hour. Sorry but I don't think You'll ever get your fluids & protein in. Unless you never want to sleep.

    Fluid intake

How much Fluid can you drink in 30 mins? I was told to work up to 8 oz in 30 mins. I couldn't drink 8oz in 30 mins at 5 days post op. Once you can drink that, hitting your 64oz will be easier. The best thing is not to get overwhelmed, by all mean push yourself but don't expect to drink 64oz right out of the gate. PS.. using a straw made it possible for me
  11. My goal was walking 150 mins a week. They said I could break it up any way I needed to
  12. Pj bottoms, loose clothes to wear home, a pillow, lip balm, charging cords and slip on shoes for walking around the hospital. I slept and watched tv in the hospital
  13. I had a hernia repair at the same time as my sleeve and my restriction is not to lift, push or pull more than 20lbs for 8 weeks.
  14. Hey Julz... Fellow MD'er here what part are you from? I'm from Northern Cecil County and had my surgery at Franklin Square near White Marsh. sugar free Popsicles Lite yogurts without fruit Sugar free pudding Herbal tea Powerade zero Sonic ice Only get a couple of each and 1 box of the Popsicles. You'll find that you won't eat much. My doctor didn't have me start shakes until after the first week, they just wanted me to focus on getting fluids in. So follow your doctors orders on that. When I started drinking shakes it would take me an hour to get 8-11 oz in. Non food, A couple pairs of comfortable pjs Sweat pants I swear by a body pillow.. this made laying on my side to sleep much easier having it to support my stomach. Even now it's my favorite thing lol. A good refillable Water bottle. I got a Yeti tumbler. Because it took me so long to drink it kept my drink cold for hours. Heating pad Good luck

Is this too much to eat?

I'm Day 6. Four to six ounces per hour? I thought I was doing good eating a few tablespoons of broth. I was the same.. I couldn't get but a couple TBS of Soups, broth, pudding or yogurt down during the first couple of weeks. I could drink Water, Powerade zero no problem. But thicker things forget about it.
  16. I would take them back to the store for a replacement But if that isn't feasible try pouring it in a cup to mix it.
  17. How would you use the body pillow? And I'm going to stock up on ice! Hadn't thought about that!! Good for swelling. Thanks! If you're a side sleeper it helps support your stomach. Without it I found there was too much strain. You don't need any extra pain
  18. Get a body pillow if you're a side sleeper. It was a life saver in the early days. If you have a sonic near by grab a bag of ice. It is great for munching on. I also made too much Jello, got too much pudding and yogurt.
  19. I put it in my mini chopper (mini food processor). After a while I no longer needed to chop it.
  20. I love her blog. Keep it handy for future use because her protein mug cakes are to die for. I made the apple cake this week. So yummy.

    Surgery in the MORNING!

    Good luck [emoji253]
  22. I would be careful of GENEPRO.. I haven't found any unbiased research on it. 30 gr of Protein in one TBS seems too good to be true. I like unjury. I have all the favors. The chicken Soup isn't the best but for a protein soup it works. The strawberry is good mixed with lemon crystal light. I Doctor up the vanilla and chocolate with syrups, fruit or PB2. The unflavored is good in recipes
  23. I have a mini chopper. I chopped everything but the scrambled eggs. They kinda crumble anyway.
  24. I didn't start adding protein until 7 days postop. One thing that I did early on...I made a shake and mixed 4 oz shake with 4 oz skim milk. It thinned it out enough for me to drink.

    Herbalife and Weight Loss

To add.. I also used the product. I lost 30+ lbs and even won one of the weight loss challenges but I'm not made of money (lol) and I had to stop using the products. I gained all of the weight plus back when I started eating normal again. Which is where the lack of teaching people to eat right comes in to play. They push the products and hope you continue using it. If they also taught you how to eat, you wouldn't need them anymore. Sorry if I sound so negative..but I was really hopeful that it was my answer. It sounded good and hey David Beckham wears their jersey, so it must be. I was wrong.
