    Food Selections

@@darima77 I'm about 11 weeks out. Eating out at restaurants is a little tricky. I tend to stay with shrimp, chicken or beef. I can't eat a lot so most of the time I take a lot home. No Pasta, Soups or salads. Always stick with a Protein. I check the appetizers and kids meals first. If there isn't anything that fits my plan I order from the regular menu. Some restaurants let you share a plate either for free or a small charge. I have had some popcorn with no issues. It was only 20 cal for 1 cup so I didn't feel like I was cheating. (No added butter) I have had cashews and peanuts with no issues. Almonds didn't settle to well the time I tried them. I will try again. Be sure to chew like crazy

What Are Your Fast Food Faves?

Chick fil a grilled chicken breast, without the bun. I can only eat about 1/4 of it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Protein bars ..

My nut's rule of thumb is not to let your Protein cost you more than 10 cal per gram of protein. So a 17 gram Protein Bar shouldn't be more than 170 cal. It helps keep me from eating some of the junk bars. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Not enough protein

Its hard to "want to eat" when you're not hungry but I also set my alarm to remind me. Start the day off with a shake to drink with your Vitamins. Set your alarm every 2 hrs, have food ready. I ordered a yumbox. I fill it with healthy Protein food and eat on it throughout the day. There are tons of ideas for combinations for bento boxes. Check out the world according to egg face blog. She has saved me more than once lol. End the day with a shake.. My shakes are 30 gram of protein so each day Im getting more than 60. We must stay disciplined for this to work, that also means eating when we should making sure we are getting enough nourishment for our bodies to work Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. unjury or Bariatric Advantage was what my Dr recommended for pre-op. I love the chocolate premiere Protein. Be Careful not to stock up on what is your favorite now because after surgery your taste changes. The Premier Protein is still my favorite but I can't stomach unjury anymore. Is it normal..

I want a healthy weight. My surgeon said he'd be happy with me at 140. I'm shooting for 130-135 but we'll see where I end up. He said I'm on track for reaching that in 6-7 months post op.

    Using a personal trainer pre-op?

Finding the "right" personal trainer is the issue. You may or may not click with the first one. It's best to begin this relationship, discuss goals and such asap. Be upfront and honest with your pending surgery. I was lucky to have a connection with my PT but sadly she sold her business and I couldn't find that connection with those that took over. Now I'm kinda without direction or the know how. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    zero weight loss

Write down your questions so you are armed and clear minded (as much as can be) at your appointment. I would be so mad that I would not ask or screw up my questions. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. In my 3rd week I was on full purée. As long as you're chewing your food bits down to mush you should be ok. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  22. A stall after the initial weight loss is normal. I was allowed creamed soups during my 2 weeks of liquid phase. I did start my purée stage a day early but I continued to lose. I am in a stall right now, 1 lb after about 2 weeks but then again is that really a stall? lol. I'm 8 weeks out Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Peanut butter!

They sell Pb2 just about everywhere now. I used to have to buy it online only. I keep a large jar for when I'm craving peanut butter.. It's nice to make a chocolate, banana and peanut butter protein shake

    VSG Revision?

Even before my Vsg surgery my dr said this was a possibility due to my hiatal hernia and presence of GErD. I still opted for the VSG because I didn't want to rearrange my intestines..cutting 85% of my stomach out was enough. lol. I'm still kinda new at this being 8 weeks. No real issues with acid but I haven't been eating the same crap as before either. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
