Stomach Stretching
cindyw41 replied to Fettchick83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I see you're about a week out from surgery. During this time liquid goes down easy and your really don't feel the restriction till you are on more solid food. Don't stress over it now. When you're off liquids It's important not to eat till you feel full but till you're satisfied. Measure and weigh everything you eat and stick to your plan. This is all new and you will learn the read the signs your body gives you. Everyone is different Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

cindyw41 replied to NeedaBreak4Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dad also has Gerd and his esophagus is deteriorating. It went untreated for years. (you know.. the tough guy syndrome) Now he has to be on a strong PPI to help it. I hope 7/1 gives you some relief. Best wishes for you. @ let us know what the Dr says. Glad your were able to get some rest. -

Heartburn & Sore Throat... ouch!

He didn't give a timeline of when it could show up I think it can hit anytime. I'm hoping it's not but what you're describing is what I went through. I do know that it can creep up into the throat and give that burning sore throat feeling. -

That stinks.. I had gerd prior to surgery and my surgeon said it may come back post surgery even with my repair. It seems common for sleeve patients to develop it. He advised me that I may have to get the bypass later on to relieve it. Praying it doesn't come back. -

It sounds like Gerd. Your PPI may not be strong enough. Did you have a hiatal hernia repair at the same time as your surgery or did they check you for one? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Has anyone experienced a leak due to drinking protein prior to 5 weeks?
cindyw41 replied to sleeverv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor did a leakage test before I could drink anything. After I got the clearance I was able to be on a full liquid diet. Did they do a leakage check while you were in the hospital? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I love reading about everyone!! I'm a little late to the party but here it goes. -I've been married for 22 years. My parents didn't think it would last, hated my husband and said they would charge us for the reception if it didn't last 5 years. (We showed them) haha Now my husband and dad are best friends. -I have 2 children. Our daughter is 20, our son is 18. Neither wanted to go to college and I'm ok with that. -I love animals I have 3 dogs. A chocolate lab, yellow lab and a shorkie. I would have cats too but our son is allergic. My shorkie is the best thing ever given to me for Valentine's Day. -strangers think I'm easy to talk to..I've had the boy in a chick fil a drive thru tell me his whole life story while waiting for our food. -I actually talk with strangers easier than people I know. -I've work for my dads business for 18 years, he's retiring so I have to get a "real job". That scares the crap out of me. Also writing down my resume I realized I was severely under paid haha. -I bake cakes for people, pretty good at it but Ive become to hate it now. -I want to move far away and start over Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What antibacterial soap did you/will you use the night before?
cindyw41 replied to reachbree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to shower normally, 2 hrs later shower with the hibiclens soap and not use any shampoo, deodorant or anything after the second shower then I had to shower with the soap again the next morning. Luckily my surgeon gave me the soap. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Gallbladder questions!

Being denied due to weight gain...
cindyw41 replied to achappex3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Alex. Call your insurance pre authorization department and ask all the requirements and conditions regarding getting approved for your WLS. My surgeon actually told us to call multiple times. It's important to call the pre auth department and not the customer service number because they have more in depth information.
