  1. I was a 39 bmi when I started this journey. I'd suggest that you take at least 1 week off following surgery, ideally 2 weeks. I was very tired, slept a lot. I have a desk job and didn't leave my house for the first week. The second week I went to work but took frequent breaks and naps. Post op liquid diet is generally 2 weeks, followed by 2 weeks of puréed then two weeks of a soft diet and finally eating your new normal. Not everyone has this schedule, your dr or nut should tell you their specific plan. Do I regret having this done? not for one second!! I'm almost to goal and not even 6 months post surgery. Good luck! One thing I'd say.. Stop searching the Internet and "researching". Trust your instincts and don't freak yourself out.

    I'm at a major stall!

A major stall would be weeks or even months without losing. You're emotionally going through a lot right now and your body is recovering from major surgery. Take a deep breath and say..."I've lost 34lbs in 2 weeks.." Let that sink in!! Because it's amazing Remember this surgery isn't a magic fix all and weight loss doesn't always happen over night. Stay on course with your plan and it will happen. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I'm almost overweight!

I remember the day when my surgeon was able to take that off my condition list. It was the best feeling. You'll get there and it will be amazing!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. chicken..hate chicken now and it's one of the best Proteins to eat. Bacon.:loved it before now while I don't hate it, I can definitely live without it. For the most part I can live without any pork variation and I loved ham. Burgers...can't stomach them now. Pasta..thankfully its a big no no anyway but I can't stand any pasta. Tuna or any other canned meat. It must be the texture but nope, not happening Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Diarrhea?

For the most part yes..liquid in, liquid out. If you are having other symptoms along with it, I'd suggest calling your doctor. There could be something else going on. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I'm glad to hear that you are walking a bit. Hoping your pain lessons so you can rest without the meds. That sucks about the milk. Unfortunately lactose intolerance is common after bariatric surgery. My doctor told us if it happens in the beginning to try it again in a couple months or use Lactaid milk. Sleeping positions

I'm a side sleeper and I got a body pillow to alleviate the pressure/pain on my stomach. It worked great for me. You might want to give it a try Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Liquid Protein Variety...

Adding Pb2 to the chocolate premiere protein drink was my favorite early on. Also sugar free coffee syrups. I used a pump of the raspberry with it as well for a chocolate raspberry drink. Variety is the key so you don't get burned out.
  11. I was to work up to 4oz/hr by the end of the first two weeks. With the Extra Fluid you get in the hospital my dr wasn't concerned with dehydration early on. They gave me 1, 2 & 4 oz cups to push it a little more each time I drank. As your swelling goes down getting the fluid in gets easier. You need your rest so take the meds if they help you. I didn't need mine after the first week. The spirometer is a pain in the butt.. They wanted me to use it once every 20 mins. Thankfully I didn't need it once at home. Good luck

    Ladies: IUD

2 years ago I got the mirena IUD and sadly bled/spotted non stop for the first 3 months. After my surgery my cycle was for 3 weeks (I started the day of my surgery). At 3 months out I was regulated again. I'm 5 months out now and it's like clock work with no issues. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    New sleever

I had to strain creamed soups, I ate cream of tomato and cream of chicken. I could eat very little so I wasn't worried too much about calories and such that early on. (We're talking just a couple TBS at a time)

    New sleever

For this stage I was told no more than 1/2 cup in an hour. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. It took me about 9 days for my bowels to "wake up" after surgery. (Anesthesia and pain meds) There's nothing but liquid in there. Mine woke me up at 2 am so be prepared.

    Bruises

Have your dr run a routine blood work up to make sure you're not fighting something. With low platelets you will bruise easy too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. Did your dr prescribe you a PPI if not you may want to take one. I am still on one (this is my last month, I'm 5 months out) so hopefully when I come off of it I do not have any acid reflux. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Protein goal

Order the sample pack of unjury from their website. It is a good quality Protein. They have unflavored powder that you can mix into pudding, yogurt and other things. I was on it pre-op. Luckily I can handle the Premier Protein post op. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  20. Were you given heparin in the hospital? A blood thinner can cause nose bleeds too. Also maybe a sinus infection, If your pollen count is like mine.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Post op surgeon visits

My surgeon has us follow up with him every couple months the first year then yearly to year 5. I'm 5 months out and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else either. If your PCP does your Vitamin blood work, the only thing I would suggest is maybe adding a support group or a bariatric nutritionist that accepts your insurance. 22. I still have the gurgling bubbles.. (5 months out) But right after surgery its important to walk to get the surgical gas out. My nurse kept asking me if I farted yet everyone is different as far as the time it takes. Some don't have gas at all or very minimal. Get to walking Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. The NFL nut in me is screaming "who is it" but I've calmed down lol well sort of. Back to this post it's hard learning who our true friends are and relationships shouldn't come with conditions. As hard as it is to start over sometimes it's the best thing for us. We never realized how toxic or wrong a relationship is till we step away and see it with new eyes. Thankfully I went through this surgery with a man that loves me no matter what, did he agree with me having it done..No but he didn't alienate me either. He was there at the hospital and now reminds me to eat or exercise. Today he made the comment that he got a new wife without even trying. There is someone out there that loves you for you. Don't settle for anything less Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Stomach Stretching

@@Fettchick83 The not feeling hungry can be a challenge. You have to make sure you eat even when you don't feel like it. I struggled with that now even at 5 months out. It's best to put yourself on a time schedule and plan out what you're going to eat a head of time.
