    Gas in my shoulder

I would get a pain in my shoulder early on. I figured it was gas. I noticed it when I would eat too fast and It was always the left side. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    cheat!

I bought them at GNC.. One of each flavor. I thought they were nasty. Everyone one of them. I'm not a fan of any of the Quest products. You can make homemade cheese chips when you are cleared. http://wellnessmama.com/2146/cheese-chips/ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  4. I only lost one strip prior to my two week check up, I covered it with a bandaid until my appointment. My incisions didn't hurt either. I did have the pain to the left of my belly button where they removed my stomach. It was more like a muscle pain and that lasted about 2 weeks. The swelling will go down and drinking will be easier. It was within the first 2 weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Is this overeating?

Yes 8oz.. They wanted me to work up to 8oz by the end of the second week. Gradually increasing each day. Again as I stated to stop when you are satisfied and not when you're full. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Is this overeating?

The swelling is going down so You won't feel your restriction till you're off of liquids. 8oz in 30 mins should be your goal. The most important thing to remember is to eat until you're satisfied, not eat till you're full. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. It sounds like you're on track. I also fit the profile and got nervous about being approved. It's something I wanted so bad that I worked myself up over nothing. Try to think positive or you will just make yourself sick. The months will fly by Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Whennnnnn

I lost 14lbs on the 2 week pre-op. That's when my losing really started. I only lost 5 lbs in the 6 months prior. Then in the almost 6 months since I've lost at a steady pace with some stalls. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I have 4 new scars, the 5th incision he re-used an old scar. So I was pleased. The new ones look like butterflies. (They used staples) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. 2oz of a Protein, 8oz of a liquid (yogurt, pudding, Soup, shake exc.) should be your serving size. Eat your protein first, then veggies and if you still have room then a carb/starch. I rarely have room for anything but my protein. Most of the time I can't finish that without feeling satisfied. My calories at this point is 600-800. I'm still in the losing phase. I doubt my surgeon will increase this until I'm maintaining. My target goals are 100 gr protein and 64oz Water. Some don't track calories..just protein, carbs and water. I track to make sure I hit the min calories because I'm still not feeling hungry and I can't rely on my body to tell me to eat. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I went to the seminar, Met initially with the Doctor, I had to complete a 7 month nutrition course, meet with a nutritionist 2x, meet with a physiologist 2x, meet with a psychiatrist once, Plus all of the pre-op testing. This was my Drs requirement. My insurance required much less. I was extremely prepared and at ease with the whole process. He informs all of his patients to the same degree, which is why I chose him. PCOS and hypothyroidism

I also have PCOS and I'm being tested for thyroid conditions because of my lack of energy despite losing 60+ lbs. My PCOS conditions have improved significantly. Cycles are regular (even on the Mirena IUD). My unwanted hair growth as slowed, I would have to shave 2x a day and now can get by with one. Oh the joys. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Checking in alone?

Check with your hospital and their regulations. The only thing you may have trouble with is driving home from the hospital. Sadly not everyone who needs surgery has family or friends to help them. There has to be something planned for those situations. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

how much weight to lose in a week

My average is 1.95 lbs a week. I've had lots of stalls as well and I am very happy to be losing at this rate. If it continues I'll be at goal by the end of summer . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App This is overall my 3 month loss was average of 3.25 a week
  17. hair usually doesn't start falling out till month 3-4 if at all. Not everyone loses hair. I didn't feel sick but I felt really tired and took frequent naps during the first 2 weeks. I went back to work the Monday after surgery..(surgery was on Tuesday) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I would shoot for a higher Protein target for my hair. More like 80-100. There isn't anything we can do to prevent the loss but the extra protein helps regrow lost. Im losing so much hair..that's the only thing I wish I'd started sooner Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Celery - Pureed

I haven't had raw celery yet, but I've had no issues with cooked celery. I would guess if you're putting into a Soup recipe, puréed or ground down it'll be fine. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. I think starvation mode is real. Not sure why people think it's a myth. Even weight watchers say you won't lose until you eat all of your points. Mexico Drs are far more relaxed than US Drs on the guidelines. So I'm sure you can find someone that will help you I will say overeating was not my issue, and I didn't binge eat. My weight increase was due to eating the wrong things complied by medical issues and medication. This surgery has helped me come off the medications and lose the weight. Almost to goal with 14lbs to go!! I had surgery 1/12/16. Good luck to you Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I'm not sure what all they sent me for. It was 6 vials of blood worth
  22. To answer your questions.. I do not have much energy, mental or not physical. I'm having my thyroid and such checked now. I am always cold. I've read that is common after VSG. I'm glad it's summer now, I had surgery in January. Are you tracking your food intake? As much as you work out you may not be getting enough calories. Have you seen a nutritionist? Have you had your blood work done to check hormones.. Try those first. I don't know where you're from etc. but most insurance companies have standards to meet to even qualify for surgery. 5 weeks post op

My first thought.. The sugar content will make you sick. (I tried ice cream at 5 months out and it made me sick and I didn't have a lot of it) Second thought.. There are tons of recipes out there that mimic the real deal. Try looking up some Protein ice cream or Protein shake ideas. 3rd thought., at Wendy's they have the $1 sized frostys and my bet is that you'll have 1 or 2 bites and be done. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. In what time frame did you eat this slice? I mean I could finish a slice after an hour or so. I haven't tried (5 months out) I only eat the toppings when I have pizza. Which is rare and was not till after 6 weeks. Your meals should be eaten inside 30 mins. Limited to 1/4-1/2 cup at a time and always Protein first. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. Bringing up an old post like this really isn't helpful. We're all seeking help in some shape or form. Struggling with post op emotions, uncertainties of how things work doesn't need posts like this. If you want to really help him, help.
