Dating post-surgery?
LessOfMe0503 replied to BritishBornBabe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Do you have any suggestions for non food related dates? I really have no clue Thank you Museum, painting or pottery place, a walk in a park, a concert, ice skating, hiking, an amusement park... -
Dating post-surgery?
LessOfMe0503 replied to BritishBornBabe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Went on a few dates right after surgery. I had explained the whole surgery to him so it wasn't a big deal. You could also choose no food related dates! -
How did you all set your goal weight?
LessOfMe0503 replied to melps's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I do not have a goal weight as of yet. I've spoken with my PCP, surgeon, NUT and psychiatrist. They are all ok with me not having a specific goal weight yet. -
No set calories or protein

I think that's pretty normal at the beginning. -

Maybe they didn't give you a number yet because it is something you work up to? My goal is 60 grams of Protein a day. I'm 2 months out and I don't meet the goal unless I include a shake for the day. Two weeks post op, two shakes and some soup is great! -
Perhaps a change in your attitude would make you more attractive. It sounds a bit cliche, but if you don't love yourself- you can't expect anyone else to.

troubel getting protein and food in.
LessOfMe0503 replied to fharris's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's certainly a balancing act! When I first had surgery, I set a timer in my phone for 1 minute. Everytime it went off, I would take a sip of Water. I would do that for about 20 minutes several times a day. I also did it with Protein shakes. Staying hydrated is important so keep working on it! Refried Beans, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese and yogurt are really what I ate during the mushy stage. -
What’s Your Surgeon-Self-Other Split?
LessOfMe0503 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I make all my decisions. I'm 100% responsible for every amount of food that goes into my mouth. I'm responsible for whether or not I exercise. I'm responsible for all of it. Every decision I make is based in knowledge- 75% of that knowledge comes from the medical team, surgeon, nutritionist, psychiatrist, etc. -
Dating is hard... and I think it gets harder the older you are. Don't give up.

I had my first fill about 4 weeks after surgery. He put 2 ccs in, which brought me to 6 cc. I went for my 2nd appt this week and I had lost 20 pounds between appts. He said I may not be "in the green zone" but that I was doing really well and he didn't feel like I needed a fill at that moment. The secret for me had been all about my head game. I choose simple foods that are easy to portion control. I eat for a certain length of time and stop. I am eating 4-6 times a day but my doc said it was working for me so it was ok. Exercise has been key as well. I'm not doing anything fancy- just walking but I've increased my length to 2 miles a walk.

Nope... I thought mush was just a crappy stage I suffered through. Are you drinking protein shakes? Those were the main source of protein for me for awhile. -
Looking for cheaper protein bars
LessOfMe0503 replied to zackly's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I picked up a couple premier protein bars on Friday for a camping trip. It was my first camping trip since surgery and I was worried about getting enough protein/nutrition in the woods. I took one on our 3 1/2 hour hike and it was perfect. It kept me sustained and I had enough energy to keep up with the cub scouts! -
Sending request for approval to bcbsnc
LessOfMe0503 replied to queencity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have BCBS NC and it didn't take near that long for approval! -
I work in a large school. Nurses come to us once a year to give fly shots for those who want it. I usually get one, I had not considered that surgery would have any beating on that.

Peanut butter powder?
LessOfMe0503 replied to mouse1972rb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love it! My (current) favorite protein shake is fairlife milk, pb2, half a banana and unflavored protein powder! -
I'm at 6 cc and feel pretty good... but I'm not in the green zone yet. How big is your band?

Can your port flip sideways? It doesn't feel like it used to...

That makes me feel better!

Any teachers out there...returning to work?
LessOfMe0503 replied to ForLfKlovr's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had 2 full weeks at home before starting back to school. The first week of school was mostly meetings and I was still exhausted! -
Single Mother prepping!
LessOfMe0503 replied to bbrookmedic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a single mom as well! Fortunately, my mom was able to come down for the week when I had surgery. I did make sure I was prepped for when she left with foods my 8 year old could grab himself- pbj, yogurt, microwave popcorn, fruit... that helped tremendously. -
General question -- Do they remove any/some of the fat in your abdomen during surgery?
LessOfMe0503 replied to Mom26's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a thought like that at one point... they pulled a bunch of fat out of the body, did the sleeve or by pass or whatever I was watching and stuffed the fat back in... I was like "come on!" But I get it... I've also watched the the skin removal surgery and it's crazy how many veins there are! -
Ok, thank you! I have an appointment coming up soon.

I agree... growing up in the technology age, I've always known that nothing online was private. I have also always known that everything I put out there, typed or spoken, will be available forever, even if I delete it. Once it's digital, it exists forever.
