    July sleevers?

Nine days out and feeling great! I've developed an aversion to sweet things (which is good in the long run I guess), but it's definitely making drinking protein shakes difficult. Also lots of tiredness/lack of energy. But other than that I feel good, it's been a smooth recovery.
  2. You look fantastic, congratulations! Very inspiring... I hope I can have as much success in a year!
  3. @@lozz73 big difference! congrats!

    Before and After Pics

@work2Bskinny @Mremilio you both look great!
  5. I didn't practice beforehand and haven't had any issues so far. I'm just conscious that I'm going to eat in half an hour and stop drinking, have my meal (soup soup soup - boo liquid diet!), and wait another 30 minutes to drink again.
  6. Glad your recovery was easy! I had a fairly easy recovery, too, and like you wasn't nervous about the surgery beforehand! Other than being tired/lethargic a lot, feeling good.
  7. I'm struggling with the sweetness of protein shakes as well! My nurse said it's likely my taste buds have changed. Hope it works out for you.
  8. The gas pains do get easier as the first week goes on.

    Freaking out about surgery!

I'm also a big old baby... I've never been under the knife before, never had a broken finger or anything, so I was worried if I could handle the pain. I'm a week out now and I feel great! When they put you under, I didn't think it was anything to worry about and before you know it you're awake in the recovery suite! I did have gas pains the first couple of days that were quite uncomfortable, but it wasn't so much pain as it was a big discomfort (like something sitting on my chest). The incisions didn't hurt and I was given painkillers every so often. As someone who screams even when they just stub their toe & has low pain tolerance, I came out of it the other side just fine. Hope your surgery goes well.

    My first appointment

Hey, congrats to you... good luck on your journey!
  11. Congratulations to you! Keep with it and don't be discouraged by the stall.
  12. Hello. I am nearly a week out and can say that, yes, you will have a lot less energy for your sports in the first month. You will be fatigued a lot because of the low caloric intake. Muscle mass should be supplemented by the protein shakes you take, though.

    Eating

I feel ya, I do feel like I might be hungry at times -- but more because I feel lethargic and tired all the time. I'm not a week out of surgery yet, though, so it's understandable that I feel like this. Hope the pureed stage goes better. Think up lots of yummy recipes that you could have as pureed food.

Have you ever swallowed something by mistake?

Not a mistake on my part, but the unaware nurses at my hospital gave me a pill post-op the day I had surgery. I was freaking out. I was told it was fine and double-checked that my doctor approved it, they said he did, but he didn't...
  16. Congrats to you, and lucky on the gas pains!

    Hows Everyone

I'm a few days out now and feeling better each day! Last night was the first night I was able to sleep through most of the night and sleep on my sides. Glad it's all going well for you. Enjoy your walk. x

    Got approved!

I think you've done the right thing, made your decision, stuck to it, arranged your date -- and then tell family. It's your life and your health. I did the same, I made my decision and no-one was gonna stop me backing out of it. I told my family after the fact.

    Should I feel Guilty?

I don't think, based on what you say, you should feel guilty. If you're keeping on track 80-90% of the time, enjoy yourself the rest of the time. Remember, it's not just about the immediate weight loss goals -- but long-term lifestyle changes! You're sticking to your new lifestyle and everyone is allowed to indulge a little. Think of it as a bank account -- you're paying in 90% of the time with exercise/healthy eating so that you can afford to enjoy that 10% of freedom.

    Hi new friends!

@@Bean80128 Glad to hear you're feeling well. This forum is SO useful; just search whatever you're experiencing and someone will have experienced it before!
  22. Good luck to you! I had my sleeve last Thursday. Let me tell you, I have such a low pain tolerance, I feel like I've been stabbed violently if I even stub my toe! I was worried about how much the surgery would hurt, but I'm pleased to say it wasn't as bad as expected. While in hospital you're hopped up on painkillers and they send you home with some too -- I'm off them as of today. The gas build-up was more painful than the incisions (and that's more of a discomfort than a major pain). All that said, I'm sure you'll be fine. If low pain tolerance me can make it through, you can too!

    Drinking water

I think they recommend sipping just to ensure your new stomach isn't being overworked so soon. I think I'm capable of bigger gulps but haven't tried it -- going to stick to the sips! I have a 1ltr sports bottle that you have to suck water out of -- which is GREAT for sipping. I carry it everywhere with me now (only a few days out) and am constantly sipping. Surprised how close I'm able to get to 2ltrs (70oz) per day considering how I was never a big water drinker before!
