My Bariatric Information Session was bizarre!
tjstark replied to limichelle34's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow, I'd definitely check whether I was being Punk'd! If you can't give up soda or a bag of chips for this life-changing gift, probably not right for you. Good luck to 'em. -
I'm 11 days, had something spicy for the first time last night -- poured some sriracha into my soup. I was so sick of my soup, so it added a nice flavour. I think I used too much though in my overeagerness haha!

I was told resistance and weight training help tone the skin/muscle, as well as swimming.

Ten Days Post Op~ All of my Crazy Feelings
tjstark replied to The Pool Queen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope you feel better. Did your surgeon not prescribe something when you were discharged for the acid reflux? I was sent home with six months of PPI. -
How long till the pain goes away?
tjstark replied to baylorbears281's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@baylorbears281 glad to hear it -
Sounds like you're in the pureed stage. How about trying some other fish, like tuna which is easier to puree, to curb the craving? Could pre-packaged smoked salmon be easier to puree?

Stress/Emotional eating
tjstark replied to rosepose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When you do this, do you feel hunger? Or is it just a response to this stress or head hunger? Because most of us can't feel hunger in the first year or so, I find it just helps to identify it is as head hunger and know that I'm not physically hungry, therefore I don't need to eat. Talking to yourself (in your head) in a positive, rational manner can help I find. -
Six months out with pics

For the liquid soups part - campbells cream soups? Any cream soups rec?
tjstark replied to wagyu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cream soups were fine for me. -
Good luck for tomorrow. Try not to worry and get a good night's rest beforehand. As for what to take with you, your own comfortable clothes/pyjamas would probably make you feel more relaxed (it did me!). The IV, if it's by cannula, it's just a sharp scratch, I wouldn't worry!

Using Syntrax Nectar question
tjstark replied to StephBtoo's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
@ As a fellow Brit, I thought I'd ask, what are your fave flavours? Want to switch to this because the milkshake-type protein shakes make me feel sick. -
Day four I'm gagging on protein shakes. Too sweet.
tjstark replied to grammie1212's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I watered down today's protein shake a lot more than usual, and it's been more tolerable. Phew! -
How long till the pain goes away?
tjstark replied to baylorbears281's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope it gets better. My pain was fully gone by day five or so. The gas pains are a bitch! -
Hope it gets better. The nurse should get in touch with your surgeon, maybe?

Sleeve Aug 24 and nervous!
tjstark replied to cat127's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't be nervous, that will just make it all the more daunting. See how you feel and take each day/problem as it comes. There's so much useful information on this forum (I always find that if I have a question it's already been answered somewhere here!), so just search or ask again if something arises. Best of luck to you. -
Snap! I start purees on Thursday and have so many ideas in my head, I can't wait!

When did you guys go on Phase 2 purees/mushy and what did you eat?
tjstark replied to zelgal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it's about two weeks, so Thursday coming. Some things I've been looking at: pureed refried Beans, pureed chicken with sweet potato mash, flaky fish in a tomato-based sauce (mash it down with your fork), daal, chickpeas (or other pulses) in a curry or a sauce mushed down with fork or pureed, yoghurt, hummus, minced meat in a tomato based sauce, mushy cauliflower/broccoli in cottage cheese baked with a bit of low fat cheese on top.
