    Coffee?

I was never given any restrictions on coffee, it makes up a sizable chunk of my daily fluid intake. I've had no problems with it. A little Splenda and dry creamer & on with the day.

    Puréed Food

Taco Bell pintos and cheese - You can make this at home for cheap and one prep will last you for several days. Refried beans cut with enchilada sauce, a little water, sprinkled with cheese and seasoned with chili powder if you can handle it.
  3. My surgery was around 11:45 AM, I was at home before 7:00 PM. I had the typical gas pains working through my shoulders for several days, a heating pad and recliner worked wonders for that situation.

    Purée Recipes

My go-to for my week of purée was canned refried Beans (Old Ortega brand is good) cut thin with enchilada sauce and a little Water, a sprinkle of shredded cheese and spiced up with chili powder and Tony Chachere's seasoning. Your mileage may vary with spices, I'm a multi-generational Texan not much seems to aggravate my stomach even after surgery I could only take a few spoons-worth at a time, so a can will stretch out for a couple of days.

    <48 hours till surgery!

Like others stated post-op is a breeze, the hunger drive is gone. The bigger challenge now is getting enough liquid in, stay hydrated and keep a heat pad handy for the gas pains. Relax as much as possible, it gets easier and better each day and once the gas works itself out of your system you'll be good as gold.
  6. Day 2 was the worst for me, all the gas and cramping that was there to be had showed up that morning after surgery. Day 3 was much better, I was able to skip pain meds except at bedtime. I'm on day 4 now and another step better than the previous day, things have been far simpler since I figured out that warm liquids go down easier than cold ones I finally took my gas-pacing outside and did a mile today, at the current pace tomorrow is looking good.
  7. Good to hear, I'll be dealing with them soon (they'll be dealing with me ) hopefully I can avoid the theatrics and they'll play straight with me. Are you on the standard or basic?
  8. This thread is hilarious, I've shared a few of your observations as well In my case though I'm very much pre-op and I fully expect to turn into the Grinch/Captain Ahab once I get the surgery done and testosterone reigns supreme.
  9. Howdy, I was hoping someone might have some insight to my situation. I attended my first seminar today and hope to schedule my 1st appointment soon, unfortunately that leaves me with more questions than answers at this time. Anyhow - My BMI straddles 39.9-40.2 depending on the day it seems. I've been at 38+ for the last few years, marriage and a child seems to have helped it inch up a little. My concern is whether or not I can get approved without the typical comorbidities if I tally up at 39.9. The only thing I really have to work with is an old knee injury which makes walking an aching, painful experience and stairs are even more fun! I had a surgical repair performed which helped the problem, but it still hurts like tax season. I don't know if that would provide leverage for BCBS though, I can vouch that it has been a complete roadblock in getting in exercise and taking the weight off of it would help tremendously amongst other health benefits. Any thoughts?
  10. Turns out I've not measured myself shoeless in quite some time, the numbers are much better regardless of my scale's daily opinion. Thanks for the suggestion
  11. That was kind of what I was afraid of It wouldn't be a problem to put weight on but that's kind of NOT the idea lol. It sucks how insurance companies force you to jump hurdles to retrieve any of the money you've punctually supplied them with over the years.
  12. Height is accurate, though if I skip my boots and go with sneakers it might help I don't have any medically supervised/documented weight loss attempts in recent years, I did about 10 years ago but it suffered the same fate my latest personal attempts have, death by knee pain and rebounding. I have done several on my own in recent times with marginal results, I have that data on hand. I do have a family history of diabetes but I'm not in that neighborhood at the moment.
