    Bread.

I was limiting myself to a half a piece of low-cal bread a day and thought that was safe. But I really needed to get out of a stall so I cut out all carbs and it did wonders on the scale. That's where I found motivation to stay away from carbs (that and the fact that carbs are so filling, it makes it hard to find satisfaction in what little you can eat).
  2. I came to the conclusion that there was no 1 right answer so I waited 2 weeks after surgery to ride the java train and 1.5 months for the booze (I don't drink often). Not saying I would advise the same, but I am only 2 months out and all is good.
  3. I had the Lap-Band surgery June of 2015 and had lost 68 pounds in a year. I didn't drop as fast as I would like (I am sure my personal habits were to blame). No complications with the band other than discomfort, but I realized that I needed a different option so I had the revision surgery to the Sleeve this past 4th of July. A few days after the revision surgery I came home and weighed myself; I gained 3 pounds. I think it was due to the IV Fluid, unless I was right about the Dr. smuggling something in my stomach (I had my surgery in Mexico, lol). However by the third week after surgery, my total loss was 20 pounds. It will come off, don't get discouraged and be aware that in a few more weeks you might hit the stall (which is very common). I had my stall for 3 weeks, although it felt like months. I am back to losing again. Yay! Think positive so you can heal well! Slow or fast, you will be dropping. Best wishes.

    Need Support

I sympathize that you would have to go through this emotional dilemma while having to heal physically and mentally from the surgery. I completely understand wanting to keep your family together, but it seems so backwards. I always thought that partner getting fit (which in turns builds their self-esteem) would be the one out of the two to leave a relationship. I am sure you know in your heart what to do, but could there have been a problem somewhere else in your marriage prior to this surgery? Like OutsideMatchInside said, this might be the best time for you to step away from him and spend some time with other family members who will truly be there for you. I wish you the best.
  5. I got that lap-band in June of 2015 and decided that since it will most likely have to be removed, I opted to have revision surgery to the gastric sleeve on July 4, 2016. Also, it took me a year to finally be mentally ready for a more evasive type of surgery. I'm only a week post-op and I am feeling great. There is a little soreness for sure in the muscle where the port was removed, but its tolerable. 3 years prior I had my gallbladder removed and my surgeon said I had a lot of scar tissue, but he removed it in order to get the surgery done (although I understand your circumstances since you had hernias as well). Surgery overall is not pleasant for me simply because I hate staying in the hospital. But I think the mere experience of having surgery in general makes the next procedure tolerable since you know the routine. Most likely now you have the sleeve and I hope all is working out. I do not miss the band at all!
