Hello!
My name is Dana and I am just beginning my WLS journey! I am 19 years old, 5'6", and ~264 lbs. I have been fairly chuncky for for the majority of my life, even as a young kid and I'm up to here with it! I have tried most weight loss programs, but even if I lost a few lbs, my body would just gain it all back. A few weeks ago, my doctor and I were talking about my weight and I was expressing concern. This is the biggest I've ever been and I cannot believe I let myself get this way. He recommended having bariatric surgery.
So, now I am here. I have had my first appointment with my surgeon and have yet to meet his full staff. Thank God for great insurance because I am only required to attend a support group meeting and have a psych eval. After those are finished, I can set the date for my surgery.
I found out about BariatricPal by simply searching "bariatric smoothies" on Google. I'm glad I found it because I'm excited to be apart of this community where I can find support through this tough journey.
Please feel free to talk or comment at any time! I could use all the advice I can get and am willing to give any on the flip side!
