Pulmonary Clearance & Encouragement
mommyfrog3 replied to byebyebmi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@thickandtired. What did you have to do at your pulmonary visit? I'm due for mine beginning of August. Just wanted to know what to expect. Thanks! -
Looking for other newbie friends!
mommyfrog3 replied to Mandynette's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Still in the hoop jumping stage with insurance but hope to be sleeved end of December. But just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. We're all in the same boat with the same destination! Good luck! Buddy! -
How long between approval and having a date scheduled?
mommyfrog3 replied to keddykat75's topic in Insurance & Financing
Haven't received any date yet but I was told by my surgeon that it usually takes about 2 weeks. -
I've had several catheters. It's not a big deal. It hurts but only for a moment. It will be quick. Hang in there!

Yes we are doing this for our health. We have our physical health that the surgery will help with diabetes and high blood pressure, sleep apnea and all the other issues that we face. But there is also our mental health. I'm sure we all have stories of feeling out of place because of our weight. Not wanting to do certain things because we're afraid we won't fit in the seat or not wanting to participate in a sporting event because of how we might look. But we are taking the steps that we need to physically and mentally make us better people. And in turn that will take care of our spiritual being because we will be much happier and healthier! You are not alone by any means. There are 1000s of people in your shoes (including me) but look at it this way at least you are brave enough to say it!

mommyfrog3 replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in Insurance & Financing
BCBSDE only requires 6 months of nutrition classes. The rest is required by my surgeon. -
Approval: Healthcare Exchange Plan - BCBSIL
mommyfrog3 replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in Insurance & Financing
This is all good to know. I have BCBSDE and they require 6 months of nutrition classes. Not to mention all the blood work, psychologist, nurse practitioner, cardiologist, pulmonary, endoscopy test and chest xray that is required by the Chrias group at Christiana hospital. Long process but hopefully sweet results! -
Psychologist appointment?
mommyfrog3 replied to scarlep's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hahahaha did you really say that I bet he/she was laughing maybe I'm just desperate because this process has been too long and I'm tired of being fat yes I did say that! And believe me I know how you feel. I have been overweight for like 25 years. And I am only 46! Over half my life! But look at it this way, we're finally doing something about it! At least we are moving in the right direction! -
Psychologist appointment?
mommyfrog3 replied to scarlep's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think everyone is nervous about seeing a psychologist. I know I was! But it's for our mental stability. This surgery is a very emotional process. Don't stress over it. You will be ok. Like I told my psychologist "Are any of us really normal?!" -
Rookie joining the team!
mommyfrog3 replied to mommyfrog3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the encouraging words! This does seem like a long journey but the destination will be sweet! -
I started my journey on May 19. At which time I attended a free seminar that tells you all about the surgery options and just general information. It was very helpful in assisting me with what type of bariatric surgery that was best for me. So I will be sleeved! I had my first appointment with my surgeon back in June. My insurance requires that I take 6 months of nutrition classes. So my first class was in June. Next class takes place July 20. Then it's a busy month August with appointments to cardiologist and pulmonary. Then 3rd nutrition class plus my egd test. Every thing I go to creates excitement and nervousness at the same time. I just wanted to let everyone know that this is by no means the easy way out! Don't be discouraged! You can do this! More to follow......

Bypass, Band, or Sleeve? Stats on Weight Loss Surgery by Type!
mommyfrog3 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The seminar that I attended actually went over all 3 procedures and at the appointment with the surgeon they listen to what procedure you are thinking of and give their opinion what is best for you. Mine happens to be GSV.
