    So where is everyone?

Hello everybody, I hope all is well I'm not new I have just been absent for awhile. It's funny to go back and read all our posts from december and realize how far we have really come don't ever say your only at the fifty lb mark do you remember how you felt with that fifty lbs on last november that's an average first grader you've lost there keep the faith and keep on pluggin along we will all get there. Have a great weekend:thumbup:
  2. Hi all I was banded in Dec of 07 and have learned over time if you don't make a big deal about it at the time nobody will really notice. I know personally my friends and family were so used to me trying some new fangled diet here and there when my eating habits changed they didn't seem to notice much, until the weight starting really coming off. As for the people that it was none of their business (which was practically everyone) I would just tell them I made a major life change and it's working and leave it at that which is not untrue. As for eating out the first few times when asked what I wanted to drink I would tell them nothing and got more than a few strange looks after that I would just order a glass of water and nobody really noticed I didn't drink it. I guess I'm just saying it's nobody's business unless you want to make it so. Stick to your guns and don't be bullied into telling anyone you don't want to know. Stay strong and healthy Kim

A Little Help for my Dec LBT friends

Man am I glad I found this post I was banded 12/13 and was happy with the steady weight loss until this week. I want to throw my scale out the window. I saw the dietician the beginning of this week and wanted to throw her little plastic food at her. I wonder if I can expedite the message to my brain somehow I don't get a fill until Feb 11th. I just keep telling myself it's taking me 15 years to put this weight on I can't expect it to come off in a couple of months but that doesn't mean I don't want it too!!!!!!!!
  5. Julie, Thanks for the tip, I need to get my butt up and get moving it is just so flippin cold here I don't want to go out...lol oh well mind over matter I guess. I just had an app. with the dietician and made my app for my first fill Feb. 11th. Thanks again keep up the good work. Kim

Where are all the Michigan people at??

Good for you I hope you get alot of interest in your group. I went to see the dietician yesterday I really didn't learn anything since I have to research everything I can get my hands on. I am having bouts of dizziness when I stand up too quick. I don't know what that's about if I can't find anything on the net I'll have to call and bug Tammy. Good luck to you it is suppose to get really cold this weekend so keep warm. Kim

Where are all the Michigan people at??

WOW, that's a long way to come I really feel fortunate to be so close. I did alot of research before I made the decision to be banded and I was suprised to find out one of the most experienced surgeons was in my back yard. I havent dealt with Dr. Bhesania a whole lot but Tammy in his office is phenomonal. Are you guys coming to the support meeting tomorrow night? I have never been but they are having an exercise physiologist there it sounds interesting. I have my first post op app tomorrow but I think I just see the dietician I'm not sure. I don't think I see him for a fill until next month. I've lost 28 lbs to date I hope he wont be too disappointed. Sorry this is so long it's just exciting to talk to someone that knows exactly how things are here. Thanks for the reply God Bless

Where are all the Michigan people at??

Hey everyone, I just found this thread I didn't know there were state choices. I'm from Michigan also and was banded 12/13 by Dr. Bhesania in Pt Huron. I only live about 30 miles from there in a town nobody's heard of...lol If anybody would like to chat hit me up Ive been on a bunch of other threads and nobody's post op instructions have been the same.

    Unrealistic Ideals

I have the same issue with my jeans tight in the waist sagging in the butt. But I guess thats a good thing. It's funny you mention your nephew's comment cause my son told my husband to go to the store and buy me a pair of new pants to wear home from the hospital (he overheard me saying I wanted to lose 100 lbs.) apparenty he was afraid I was coming home like that and wouldn't have any pants that fit right. He told me he didn't want my pants to fall off in public.... I laughed so hard I thought I blew a stitch. Gotta love em
  10. Julie, We were banded the same day have you had a fill yet or did they start you out with some Fluid in your band the day of surgery? I have to eat 8 oz at a meal or i'm just not satisfied. I was just curious. Also if I eat to fast or overeat I get a wicked pain in my left side and shoulder almost like the gas pains I felt post op. I was also wondering how your incisions are doing (the port site mainly) and if you could share with me your fitness routine and how your progressing. It's nice to have someone on here banded the exact same day. Have a Great Weekend. Kim
  11. Steph I have been struggling to try and keep my calories up and found the bolthouse farms Protein drink I add it every morning with some skim milk, slim fast, lite and fit yogurt and a half a banana in my blender with some crushed ice I drink 8 oz of that every morning since I'm not a breakfast as well. I also have been trying to get to 64 oz of Water a day I consume most of it at night, and the v-8 juice is a godsend there is no way I could eat that much food. It sounds to me like you have a great plan in place just try to mix it up a little you don't want to get bored with the same old thing everyday, it could cause you to make a wrong choice here and there. I'm proud of you it sounds like your doing fantastic keep up the good work and keep posting.
  12. Wow, I just started week five and am slowly progressing into solid foods last night i ate about a 1/2 oz of venison and wanted to try stuffing but chicken out and gave it to my son. I have been eating chunky soup for about 2 weeks and have been too scared to eat the meat in them.( My dog can hear me open a can from across the house.) I'm soooo scared of putting weight back on transitioning to solid foods and of course I don't want to throw up either!!! This last 5 lbs have come off slow and my doc said he wanted 30lbs by the time I see him in Feb. I'm down 23 now I'm worried.

    I am pissed off!

Man do I hear where your coming from. I am a very private person and don't like people in my business!!! I live in a very small town which I love but word tends to get around fast and you know how stories get messed up with each person that repeats it. Before my surgery only my kids my husband my grandma and two sisters knew. My son wrestles and we are very involved with his team. When they brought me from recovery and into my room my room mate was actually one of the moms from the wrestling team. Also someone from my church bumped into my husband in the lobby of the hospital and worst of all pre op when I had to see the dietician I met a lady that recognized my last name and actually works with my mother in law, I specifically asked her not to say anything and the first thing she did when she got to work the next day was blab I WAS PISSED. I tell you what lose weight get into shape feel good about yourself and screw all the gossiping bitty's they are just jeolous they didn't have the guts to do what you did.
  14. mamajava, I noticed you had your surgery in Michigan are you from there? I'm from Michigan and had my band done in Pt. Huron
  15. Amy don't worry I was on my period the day of my surgery it was no problem at all. I was on my third day the heaviest of all and I just doubled up tampon and pad. They gave me those little cheese cloth underwear like after you have a baby and I had no problems what so ever. So don't stress.
  16. LOL... vegemite I always wondered what that was (men at work) Good for you I can't believe you can eat wasabi I sprinkled a little garlic salt on my chunky soup last night and oh man am I paying for it this morning.
  17. Everyone's advice is great and it all works I tried everything. Peppermint tea helps with the gas as well and the pain under your sternum could be from the manipulation of your diaphragm or from your port site or both. I used an ice pack on and off for about 15 min. at a time and that helped alot. Good luck to you trust me in a few days you'll feel like a million bucks.

    Today was the day...

The shoulder pain I think is the worst part about the whole surgery I was banded on the 13th of December and still get it I'm also still having trouble taking a deep breath and find myself yawning alot but don't worry it will keep improving if it gets really bad use a heating pad it's helped me alot. Also I found if you wear pants that are too tight or sit forward (like hunched over the computer) it can make it worse so try sitting in a leaned back position and wearing sweats when you can. Good luck to you I feel your pain.
  20. Hi everybody, Man it's funny to read all the threads in here everybody's post op instructions very so much. I've been on either clear or full liquids since my surgery on 12/13 and am suppose to stay on full liquids till week 5. Also nobody needs to get down on themselves for how much or how little weight they lose everybody is different. I hit the 20 lb mark yesterday and have had only a few minor difficulty's but there are people I've talked to on here that have had a ton of problems and arent losing much weight at all. Keep posting it's nice to know I'm in the boat with alot of other people.

  23. I switched to full liquids as planned this week and am consuming approx. 550 calories and am walking a mile and a half a day I'm now at a stand still I started at 283 the morning of my surgery and 18 days post I'm at 265 I don't know if I'm eating too many calories or not drinking enough water. Does anyone know what the recommended calorie intake is at this point I don't see the dietician until the 15th.
