I am in the same boat as you... it seems that eating anything off the "healthy diet" imposed by the lap band is "BAD"... but I had a few bad moments too... and at then end of the day, I totalled up my calories, just to see how "BAD" I was... 1230 calories... Every sheet of info I have on dieting says not to go below 1200... so my "BAD" day I had 30 calories more than the lowest I should... thats not "BAD"... and I have totalled BAD days pre-banded and they can go OVER 4000 CALORIES... so 1230 is nothing... in the scheme of things you have postponed losing a pound(3600 calories) by a 1/2 hour... And you have lost so much already, so trust that even the minor slips will be just that - minor. And compare what a pre-band binge was compared to what you eat now... absolutely astounding... and somewhat humourous.

I think I will call my band Will.... cuz with this band I "Will" succeed, I "Will" have "Will"power, and I "Will" be a better me.

I had my band put in 2 wks ago today and I was just wondering when I should start feeling hungry? I have been following my doctors orders - 4 wks of liquids, and with everything I have read, I thought I would start feeling hungry by now... at least at some point during the day... NOT THAT I'M COMPLAINING... but I just thought that the swelling was supposed to go down in about a week and then I was supposed to start getting hungry. Its good that I am not hungry, but I am only getting in about 600 - 800 calories a day, and I know I need to get more... its not that I am too restricted or anything... I can drink my slimfast in about 2 minutes or less, and I can drink Water without any thought as to how fast I gulp... It just seems odd to me... Anyone have similar experiences or know if this is normal for some people?

Gross as it may be... chew and spit works great for me... I get the sensation and the taste... but not the calories or the potential damage to the band... I have crunched tortilla chips... chewed a hamburger from burger king, and licked a softtaco from taco bell... the funniest part was... the tortilla chips were great... i REALLY needed to crunch... the hamburger was good for the first second, but after that it was really gross.... I guess I never really tasted a burger... rather I just inhaled it... and the taco? ugh... first taste was disgusting... the tortilla tasted like paste in my mouth... I then just licked the filling (meat and cheese) that wasn't all that great either... I pretty much cured myself of the craving on both of those... I didn't swallow any of it... just spit it back into the bag... gross but effective... -
Try some chicken broth... thats at least not sweet.

Dr Ortiz told me that I could start back playing tennis at about 3 wks postop... slowly and as long as nothing hurts... and that I should refrain from situps for 6 months...

During surgery...local anesthesia or are you "out"?
cnicholl replied to tztmama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was an overnighter... but I had the surgery about 3 and by 5 I was up and walking around... drove the nurses nuts... until midnight when the nurse forced me to take a sleeping pill.... I was "out" for the surgery though... -
Christians, per se, are not the only ones being stripped of their rights... we ALL are... its a shame when the voice of the few overpowers the voice of the many... and that the only reason the "many" lose their rights is because they are, by nature, willing to let the "few" have their say... we lose our rights because we are willing to let the people who would take our rights have their say... our own beliefs will be our downfall...

I am 5 days out and I can't get my liquid in either.... The doc said "4 cups juice, 4 cups gatorade - everyday in the liquid stage" I got 3 cups of juice and 1 cup of gatorade down yesterday... Takes me about 1 hour for a 1/2 cup... but weirdly enough... warm liquids... i.e. broth... I can do 2 cups in about a 1/2 hour.... and it tastes sooo much better... I never thought broth could be filling. My calorie intake is about 400... but I decided to drink a glass of milk today... it took an hour... I do agree that alot of it is a fear that I will PB something back up... or hurt the surgery... But if liquids go "straight through you" and thats how the band works... i.e. we can lose weight if we eat solids but if we eat milkshakes we will gain... then I would think that as long as you don't swallow more than the size of the pouch at any one time we should be ok.... cuz by the time it gets down to the pouch whatever was swallowed prior should have gone through the band...????? am I wrong?

Hi Nana... I too like corsets... not into the bondage thing though... I like to participate and be participated on... ha ha... I do own a dildo or two or three... Never done the pirate theme but that sounds like fun... Flavors are great I like the peppermint too... and if they heat even better!!! Naughty places for sex? hell yeah.. I'd love to.. but I am way too shy... Camping is great... can't say I haven't done the bathroom thing though (not in icky public bathrooms but at a friends house during a party? yeah...) As to the original thought on this thread... do what you want but don't hurt anyone... that include feelings... so say what you want... be who you are... and don't take any comments personally...

well maybe not a horrible way to die... But 2 days postop I'd rather not mess up yet.

Hurray for me!!! I am now a Bandster... I was up and walking around about 2 hours after surgery. Boy will I tell you... being in the hospital with lots of energy and nothing to do was terrible... If you plan to go, take something to do... I brought books but I wasn't in the mood... I walked everywhere on the floor... I think the nurses were about ready to shoot me.... finally at about midnight they brought me in a sleeping pill and wouldn't leave til they watched me take it... and then I was up again the next morning bright and early. All the nurses were great and Dr Ortiz and his staff are phenomenal. I won't say that I didn't have any pain after surgery... but it is only when I stretch my muscles on the left side a bit too much... lifting... twisting... but as of 2 days later that only twinges... not really a pain... I do have a lump in my throat... swelling making me feel like I am REALLY full. But that too has gone down alot... and it is not always there. I am on my way to the real me and there ain't no stopping!!!
