I wanna join. I had surgery on 6/5/15 so I am no where near my over all goal. But I would like to participate. So... Current weight 264. Challenge GW will be 234. I should be able to do that. Maybe. Hopefully.

Feeling left out
Heather Birdwell replied to need change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love to try new recipes. I enjoy food more now then I ever did before surgery. My husband has lost more weight since I had surgery then ever before in our marriage and my kids love when I cook stuff I can eat. A lot of the reason I had surgery at 31 was so I could help change the habits of my children and shape a generation of my family to make better choices. My family is heavy and has always been that way. I struggled with my weight in elementary school, and all the way through college. I want to teach my children early on to make better choices. If I were to sit in a room and feel sorry for myself because I can't eat, then it defeats the purpose of having the surgery at all. I was sleeved on 6/5/15 and I have lost 25 lbs and am looking forward to more, but I really enjoy reading the labels on food and getting to create something that's healthy and satisfying not just for me but for my family as well. My husband has lost almost 20 lbs and didn't have surgery. -
I seriously have to wonder what people did pre op. Like did you not do your research? Did you not know what you were getting into? Did you wake up one morning and think "hmmm I think I'll have weight loss surgery today"

I agree. Slap me too. If I go back to doing the same stupid things that got me here, it's totally not worth it.

I felt really weak after my sleeve. Even in the hospital. I chalked it up to the anesthesia but after several days at home and not even feeling like I could carry my purse I called the doc. Turned out that my blood pressure meds were no longer needed. It was making my blood pressure too low and that's where my weakness was coming from. I honestly felt like my neck was not strong enough to hold up my head. And that I couldn't carry anything without my arms hurting. Just something to keep in mind.

How much time off work?
Heather Birdwell replied to MIMISAN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had surgery Friday and was back at work Monday. I work in a slower paced office but I didn't hurt or anything. I taught at vacation Bible School the whole next week in the evenings and learned choreography for the musical I was in for the community theater. I am convinced that it was mind over matter. I didn't have time to mope around and I didn't want to. Best of luck with surgery but I highly recommend planning on getting on with your life and forging ahead. -
Powerade zero is better than g2. No calories and less than 1 carb. G2 has like 5 grams of carbs. And a few calories. When you can only have 60 grams of carbs a day those 5 add up fast.

Eating 8 days out?
Heather Birdwell replied to Bndtoslv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon was awesome and it didn't have a pre op liquid diet and after liquids for two weeks I was cleared to eat whatever I wanted. -
Eating 8 days out?

I was the same way. I just kept seeing the weight come off and the doc said everything was good. I told the doc short of getting that gurgle when I would drink I felt like all he did was poke me with sticks. He laughed and said that he did but then he cut parts of me out too. Lol. He was great. My recovery was a breeze. Be grateful. -

I am still losing weight. My doc says he wants me eating small snacks every two hours. And the hours in between doing my liquids. I feel like all I do it eat, but I guess when you do it in 1 ounce settings it really doesn't add up to much. -

Sad Hatter I went to college with a girl who lived in Llano at one point. Nice girl. I hope you are excited about surgery. First few weeks are tough but it's so worth it. All the luck in the world to you!! -

Hey everyone. I had surgery on June 5 in Dallas Tx. I hope everyone is doing well. I have a quick question. I am finding it difficult to get in my 60 grams of protein without a shake. I feel like I am eating all day. Then there are times where I am not sure if it's head hunger or real hunger. I feel stupid even typing this. This is such a weird phenomenon. -

I live in a very small town of Graham Tx. Just south West of Fort Worth. I had surgery on June 5 2015 with Dr Dirk Rodriguez in Dallas at pine Creek Medical. Fabulous experience. I have lost 22 pounds in the first month. I am pretty satisfied with the results. Considering I had a 17 day stall as soon as I could eat regular food again.
