Need help choosing a surgery date!
Half of Bri replied to ralambert511's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually don't have to do a supervised diet, but I was due to have surgery in August 2012 and had a major health issue that was discovered 2 wks before my surgery and I had to cancel it while I recovered. So technically it feels like I've been waiting 3 years! Haha -
Need help choosing a surgery date!

I don't have my surgery date yet but I'm already getting impatient...I wish I could have it tomorrow! I'd definitely take the earlier date if it was me...think of how far along you'll be by your trip! -
Frequently Asked Questions

If your back pain doesn't go away for some reason, I highly recommended looking into Laser Spine Institute. My husband has been 60% disabled for over 15 years, had 5 back surgeries including a spinal fusion and a placement of a spinal cord stimulator (none of which gave him pain relief). He also couldn't feel his left leg due to nerve damage and walked hunched over with a limp. Every doctor he went to told him that since he had tried "everything" available he just had to "accept that this is how life is now". We tried out Laser Spine Institute and the day after surgery he was telling me his feet were cold - he hasn't felt his feet in 15 years! He walks standing straight up and out-walks me too! It was literally a miracle and his pain went from a daily 7-9 to around a 2 during recovery! -
This is my plan!

Let's talk about blood clots
Half of Bri replied to naturegirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm pre-op but I have had blood clots in my leg that traveled to both my lungs. You can't ALWAYS feel them, but in my case it felt like a pulled muscle in my calf, was tender to the touch, and after a few days when I started losing feeling in my leg/foot I went to the doctor. Also if you find that you're short of breath, extremely fatigued or dizzy, it's better safe than sorry. It does sound to me that the surgeon took the proper precautions with giving you the shot (which works right away) and would definitely help prevent them. But, if you are worried for any reason, always always ALWAYS get checked out! -
I was 2 weeks from being sleeved in August 2012 when I found out I had blood clots in my leg & both lungs. I was hospitalized and had to cancel my surgery until everything was sorted out with my health. The doctors believe I had the clots because of a combo of foot surgery that left me sedentary for 12 weeks and hormonal birth control. They didn't find any blood disorders and I'm no longer on blood thinners. I feel like nearly 3 years later I'm ready to try again for the surgery. I've developed a healthier lifestyle, I exercise and eat much better but the weight doesn't come off easily (I also have PCOS, sleep Apnea and Fibromyalgia). The problem is that I am terrified now that something awful will happen to me! The doctors all told me if I'd even lived long enough to have my surgery I would be dead, and I can't get that out of my head. I feel like I need to do this...but I don't know if it's a smart choice for me to opt for surgery when blood clots are a concern there. Have any of you had a history like this and can give me some words of wisdom or advice?

Surgery after Blood Clots

Thank you! That makes me feel a lot better. I feel like at 310 lbs. my health is at risk everyday and I need to weigh the results of risking the surgery and having the opportunity to get healthy or staying the way I am and nearly guaranteeing I'll develop even more long term health issues. I have to start the entire process all over again so I'm going to attend my seminar Aug 6 - 3 yrs to the day from when I had my clots!
