how long is the Gastric Sleeve surgery ?
Half of Bri replied to boosh10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was at 8 am and I was in a room by 11:30ish. Doc told me the actual surgery time was about 2-2 1/2 hours. -
New sleevers how are you doing
Half of Bri replied to Joymarie333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 12/2 and I'm miserably failing at Protein. My stomach is tight and gurgling like crazy, and the gas bubbles are such a pain. I'm super tired and weak today and have a headache. I'm really hoping tomorrow is better for getting some protein in. I just don't know how I'll ever get to 60g! My tummy is sore and gets so achy. As hard as I try it's not happening (or even close!). Luckily I think we can all look forward to it getting better day by day. -
Congrats! I was sleeved 12/2. Today has been the hardest for me, lots of gas bubbles making it difficult to drink. I'm weak also, and just feeling icky. Overall tho, it has been a much easier experience than I expected. I'm looking forward to the future, for sure!

How much should i be able to drink?
Half of Bri replied to Wehrm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 days post op (12/2) and having a really hard time with gas bubbles. My surgeon says I should be getting in about 2 oz. of protein drink every 1-2 hours right now. Also have to have 60 oz of water/ day - I'm drinking constantly but the gas bubbles fill my stomach up and I can't physically get anything down. I'm SO thirsty I just want to gulp down ice water! My head hurts and I feel weak today. I'm trying to force myself to drink more so I don't get dehydrated ???? -

Very nervous about 2 weeks liquid diet.
Half of Bri replied to Mariggle's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
my surgery was 12/2. I've been trying so hard to get in my protein and water today and I feel like nothing else will fit! I have lots of air bubbles in my chest. I've been sipping all day and have only been able to get down 14 oz of water and about 20g protein ???? and it literally took me allllll day. -
Has your Marriage Changed Since Surgery?
Half of Bri posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have been pretty big since my husband and I began dating about 8 years ago. I've always loved that he loves me just the way I am. He's never really been one for compliments (doesn't often tell me I'm beautiful, etc.). He might give me a pat on the backside every once in awhile but that's pretty much it. My fear is....how will I feel if he starts giving me MORE attention after surgery? I'm afraid that I will get offended knowing he didn't feel that way before, or feel that he wasn't as attracted to me when I was larger. How did your marriage change after surgery? We have a very healthy marriage and I'm becoming paranoid that our relationship will change! Thoughts? -

Any December Sleever's?
Half of Bri replied to wif3ysince08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is Tuesday, I'm feeling the exact same way. I've been having crazy panic attacks all weekend. I spent hours googling the risks of the surgery and anesthesia cause I'm terrified of not waking up. I'm only 28, I have no comorbidities, and I've gotten my BMI down to 40 throughout the process, but I'm still so scared something could go wrong. I'm trying to be in good spirits for the sake of my family (who is panicking just as much!) but jeez it's hard. I don't think I'll be getting much sleep for the next couple of days! I didn't sleep at all last night either. Good luck on Tuesday. Let's reconnect later in the week so we can share our actual experiences!Good luck today! Everything went really well on my end and I felt so silly for driving myself crazy about it. Let me know how yours goes! Same here! The waiting and worrying was by far the worst part of the whole thing for me! My surgery was yesterday and I'm doing great! No nausea, and been able to sip my water and protein shake with no problems. My surgeon said if I feel well enough to leave, I'll be discharged at around 5pm (EST). I'm doing really well and only in minimal pain, so I'm ready to go! ???? -
I am so sorry you're going through this. Maybe call your surgeons office and tell them how much pain you're still in? My sleeve was canceled in 2012 because I got blood clots in my legs and lungs 10 days before my surgery. Years of waiting and I have finally gotten to feeling better and was sleeved yesterday. Just remember you're not alone and if you need to talk I'd be more than happy to chat anytime. Just think, or you hadn't been going in for WLS, you may have ever even known about the tumor. I'm sure everything will work out just fine in the end. Have they outlined a plan of action with your tumor yet? You'll be in my thought and prayers.

Any December Sleever's?
Half of Bri replied to wif3ysince08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery went great! I feel much better than I thought I would. A little ab soreness when going to a sitting position but other than that, I feel good. I've been drinking with no nausea which I was really worried about too. My surgeon said if I'm still doing well by 5pm he will discharge me then. ???? -
December 2015 or January 2016 sleevers ?
Half of Bri replied to neequa25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my surgery was originally scheduled for 1/21, then they called me in the middle Nov and said they had an opening for 12/2! I took it in a heartbeat and now I'm so glad I did. I was sleeved yesterday and waiting and worrying was the hardest part. Just breathe and remember now you will be at your goal weight that much sooner! -
December 2015 or January 2016 sleevers ?
Half of Bri replied to neequa25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope everyone who was sleeved this week is doing well! My sleeve surgery was yesterday. Everything went really well and I actually feel really good! Much better than I expected. I started liquids today and I am able to get in about 1/2 oz. water and 1/2 oz. of protein shake per hour. Luckily I haven't been nauseous so far, just few tiny air bubbles in my chest if my sips get too big. My doctor cleared me to go home this evening if things are still going well. Thoughts and prayers to my fellow Sleevers this month - see you on the loser's bench! ???? -
I hope you breeze through surgery tomorrow! Thank you!

Thank you!

My clear liquid diet starts today, and my surgery is tomorrow. I've already been on a 2 protein shake / one lean meat w/veg diet for two weeks. I've been hungry through the whole thing with horrible headaches. I've also been awake half the night being hungry, so I'm trying to just white knuckle it through today. By this time tomorrow I will be heading to the hospital for my surgery! ????

Mine's 12/2. See you on the losers bench! ????

You're not alone. My surgery is in 2 days (12/2) and I've been feeling the same way. I'm trying to remember I've felt like this with every surgery I've ever had from my c-section to my foot to my wisdom teeth, up until the moment I conked out on the table. Once I'm recovered I always look back and say, "see, you made it". I think our nerves prove that we understand that major surgery is a big deal, and yet we are still willing to do it to become happy, healthier versions of ourselves.

3 times 10 does not equal 70!
Half of Bri replied to Sharon1964's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor recommends 60-100g of protein per day and wants me to rotate meal, snack, meal , snack, meal, snack...eating or drinking all day long to ensure I get all my protein in. He does allow protein shakes though, and it confuses me why a doctor would recommend them in the beginning and then later down the road want you to avoid them. Seems contradictory to me. -
Thank you!

Mine is 12/2, so I'm right there with you Hun! I've been an emotional, terrified mess all week, but later this evening a calm came over me and now I'm thinking, "Let's do this!" You're going to do great! By this time next week we will be feeling much better and ready to begin our new lives! Good luck to you and let us know how you're doing! Prayers ~ -

Proper Meal size at 3 weeks
Half of Bri replied to thenewandbestme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm pre-op, and got packets upon packets of information about what to expect, do, and eat each week and then monthly through month three. Do you have any paperwork you can refer to? If not, I'd try calling either your nutritionist or your doctors office for some clarification.
