How do you keep your protein shakes cold while sipping on them ?
jacks89 replied to Dub's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I put my shake in the freezer so it stays pretty cold for a while. Then when it starts getting warm I just put it back in time for the next few sips -
ABOUT Pre op liquid diet
jacks89 replied to yajaira40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe change your protein shake? When I was on the 2 week protein diet I didn't really feel hungry but if I did have some strong cravings, I curbed it with a small cheat snack but nothing too big!! -
Celebrate 4 in 1 Shakes

I would check the dosages on the vitamins before purchasing. If it has what the doctor is asking for should not be a problem! -
I was 224 at my highest. Did the 2 week protein diet and day of surgery I weighed 203. I'm one week out of surgery and weigh 199.4 hoping this weight continues to fly right off!! Goal weight is 130-135.

Loseitkacey said it best! in my case it was odd. My GI told me I had a couple gallstones but if it wasn't bothering me then I should leave it alone..so I didn't plan on getting it removed. But my surgeon gave me a suggestion on removing it bc I'll probably get them in the future and with my already small stones it'll cause much concern. So after much thought I agreed to have it taken out. And good thing too! After surgery my surgeon came in and told me he fixed my hiatal hernia (which I didn't know I had!) And took out my gallbladder. He told me it was a good decision to have it removed because I had a couple big stones and they would've caused me an issue in the future! I'm just wondering why my GI told me not to worry about it while my surgeon said I had big stones..smh. I'm definitely changing GI's when I fly back home!

I bought the glass bottles of isopure at GNC and so far the orange one is the one I've tasted and it's delicious! Kind of leaves you with a small dry mouth but one small medicine cup of water and it goes down lovely. I've heard that the coconut one is pretty good too!

I hope you guys feel better soon! The ice definitely helps and when you can just walk around a little. I've literally been walking around in a circle in my hotel room lol! But I guess it kind of helps
-
Very nice!! Congrats! once I go home I'll have to stock up on the food I'll need to eat for the next stage hehe.
-
That's great!! I feel like I've gotten rid of most of the gas but there's this one part, my upper left side of me, that hurts so I'm walking it off every 2 hrs for at least 10/20 minutes . I honestly forgot to incorporate the Isopure with the Water intake for the first stage so I added that in and omg I was so happy that I was drinking anything but water xD! Isopure is heaven!! When I finally got to my hotel all I did was sleep it off and wake up at odd hours to do the sperometer and drink water. (And use the toilet) I think sleeping definitely helps the healing you should go for it! Sleeping and the ice pack helps a lot ! Just wish I could lay sideways again cuz laying on my back the entire time is starting to be a killer lol.
-
Thank you!! it is subsiding a bit now but oy that pain! Lol I completely forgot about the ice pack I tried it out and it is helping a lot, yay! thank you!!
-
Thank you ladies! I'm going to try phase 2 either tomorrow or Thursday since I'm holding my water down well, let's hope for the best!

I slipped as well had a small pork lo mein >_< and some chicken on Saturday I think? /: just try to keep to the diet!! You can do it! ????????

I started my preop diet labor day too!! Let me tell you the first day was okay bc I was off work but the second day I was miserable and had to work a 10hr shift. My head was pounding and I felt light headed. I really thought I'd pass out at work but I'm a trooper and was always taught, "you can do it if your set your mind to it, be strong!" And I did it! I had to set up alarms that went off in 3hr intervals to drink the shakes. I'm allowed to have sugar free jello, chicken broth and sugar free popsicles but I haven't been eating them. Now that I'm finally off work I'll give it a try. I'd have to say the first day was the worst then afterwards it was easy, I continued working the 10hr shifts which were hectic but overall not bad in a way it kept me busy lol ah and I stayed off the social media bc everyone keeps posting delicious food stuff and I don't want to be tempted anymore than I have to xD lol in total for this week I've lost 10lbs
-
I've also kept an old pair of khakis..they were my favorite a long time ago I'd love to see myself in them one more time
-
I have! Well I only bought an ultimate goal outfit but I think I should go for the "halfway there" outfit too lol
-
Thank you!
-
Ah hehe sorry got to you too late lol but that's awesome! and yay!! You're literally almost there!! I'm excited for you!! it's totally normal to be a little scared and nervous, I've had previous surgeries done (none for this kind of surgery specifically) and all put me under full anasthesia it's like you're going for a nap and waking up 5 minutes later except I'm sure this time you'll probably feel some pressure or something from where they made the incesions it'll be okay! Just remember the goal, a new healthy you!

Hey girl! So happy you did great so far!! I began my diet yesterday and thankfully I was off bc of labor day so it wasn't too bad. Today however was a different story. I woke up with a killer headache so it took everything in me to get out of bed >_< but I managed hehe. I got a call from work stating someone called out for the rest of the month (don't ask how..I myself am beyond the point of Oh My God") so they asked me to come in early so thus began my long 10hr shift. It was brutal!! I'll tell you that and I had to forfeit my break since we're short a person but I explained the situation to my boss and told them I'd be leaving in intervals of 3hrs at a time to drink my shake and she had to no problem with that. I had to put an alarm on otherwise I'd forget. I sat in the break room and mixed my shake lol anyways, so I was kinda dizzy and definitely feeling some hunger pangs but overall it was much better than I expected. And I did not cheat!! just have to get through the next 3 days and I'll be off work and can solely concentrate on the diet. I just keep thinking to myself, "another day closer Brigitte, you can do this! Don't mess it up now, just a couple more days!!"

Someone on here told me there getting the inverted gastric sleeve. I checked it out on youtube Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk Hey guys sorry was at work all day 10hr shifts are no joke on the liquid diet! I'm ready to knock out! xD the inverted sleeve is an extra step at the end to secure the new stomach against leaks. YouTube "Dr. Kim Inverted Sleeve" from Kim Bariatrics there's a quick 5 minute video or so that explains what it is exactly

Pre - op liquid diet struggle
jacks89 replied to LMolina1987's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same with the foods for me but I haven't gone shopping for that yet, was getting over a cold this past weekend lol for me it's low sodium chicken broth, sugar free jello and popsicles and sugar free sweetners or additives to the water..those like little drops you drop into your water bottle lol idk what they're called -
Yes, my insurance doesn't cover the surgery and the prices out of pocket here were too much! I got my insurance to cover all the preop testing thankfully. I began the process at the end of July and got scheduled for the 21st Of September *
-
It was more affordable for me and I liked my surgeons technique, he's doing an inverted vertical gastric sleeve.
-
You got this!! good luck on starting the journey to a new you!

Pre - op liquid diet struggle
jacks89 replied to LMolina1987's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't read people doing an all clear liquid diet for 2 weeks but have heard ppl do a protein liquid diet for 2 weeks and either one or two day clear liquids before surgery..ask your surgeon and see if he can clarify what he wants for you just in case. I just started my liquid diet and trying to squeeze in 5 protein shakes a day plus a multivitamin shake my doctor wants me to take. For it being my first day I've survived with no cheats (yay!) I don't know how I'm going to survive the rest of the week at work, its my last week before I take off but I have a very fast paced job xD I have to figure ot out lol best of luck!
