I guess I never updated y'all - my surgery date was moved up. I was sleeved July 27 in Mexico. It all went VERY well! Dr. Ariel Ortiz at OCC (Obesity Control Center) was amazing! I had some mild discomfort, but never any real pain. I never needed any pain meds - at least I didn't take any after leaving the hospital... Who knows what they put in my IV. LOL!! I was 269 the day of surgery and I am 253 today (day 31) Have not had any regrets whatsoever. (Well, only one, and it's the same one most of us have - not doing it sooner!!) Hope more folks post and we can get to know each other better!

No one is noticing:-(

I was thinking the same thing SoCalLeslie posted. How are you dressing? Wearing the same old clothes hides your loss. But, on the flip side, you don't want to go too tight either. If you don't want to spend on a new wardrobe yet, maybe take the waist in on skirts and tuck your blouse in, for example. I am able to do basic sewing skills and I have had dresses that I took in at the waist before. I put the dress on inside out, pinched the fabric together on the sides and pinned it so it fit nicely around my waist (not too tight or I couldn't sit without worrying it would tear). Pulled the dress off, then laying it flat I made sure it was even (for example, pins were both 1" from the outside edge) and then I stitched by hand or machine a few inches on each side. It fit my waist making me look more slim even though the top was still full. (P.S. 1" of fabric will actually be a FOUR inch intake! Proud moment!) -
Hate protein shakes!

Another vote for Syntrax nectar. The fruity ones are, to me, "da bomb". I have not tried their vanilla/chocolate/strawberry shake flavors yet. Much lighter than the traditional shakes. They make good Popsicles too. -
Keep this post going:) Things I am looking forward to (not food related)

Travel related: Fitting in the airline seats comfortably Not being terrified that I will have nothing to wear if the airline looses my luggage because I will be able to shop anywhere Being able to enjoy tours/shore excursions without getting exhausted Being able to dress for formal night and truly feeling beautiful Being able to go on theme park rides more comfortably Not be worried if we can't get a king size bed because we are too big for smaller beds Health related: Getting off blood pressure meds and maybe even anti-depressants Living longer to see my son (10) grow up Breathing easier Get rid of that pesky "pre-diabetic" note on my med chart Activity related: Horseback riding again Hiking in our beautiful Colorado mountains Ride bikes Roller/ice skating Being able to get up without grunting Playing with my son at the park instead of searching for the closest place to sit Not hiding behind the camera! Surprising/shocking family who have no idea I'm doing this! -
Two week Liquid Pre OP Diet ~~YUM~~
TravelinGal replied to _Kate_'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you add protein powder to it, watch the temp. I have read that above 140 degrees will cause the protein to clump. (And the protein certainly is needed!) -
Hi all! I'm Robin and I live in Aurora. I'm scheduled for the sleeve in Mexico on August 17th with Dr A Ortiz. My HW was 311 back in February. I'm down 31 lbs since then (1 week on Atkins per my pre pre-op diet from OCC. I have Atkins until 2 weeks prior and then 2 weeks liquid diet.). My husband and I have a son who is 10 and we breed Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. We have six sweet puppies right now and they are helping to pay for my surgery. Haven't read any posts here yet, so I'm going to do that now.

Colorado Sleevers - Aftercare question
TravelinGal replied to loie5280's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hi. I don't know if you have found someone yet, but I did some calling and found one dr who would take people who got WLS in MX. His name is Dr Matthew Metz. He IS in Parker, so that may be a long drive, but better than no IN PERSON follow up. My Dr. Has follow up for five years, but I want someone close also. Hope this helps! -
