  1. So TODAY I finally get the call I have been so patiently and impatiently looking for from my insurance company. I am APPROVED FOR MY SLEEVE!! I could've done a cartwheel if I knew how and wasn't afraid I would break my wrist! Hate that my surgeons office close early on Fridays! I'm ready to get the ball rolling! Ready to CHANGE MY LIFE!
  2. Hey! Just wanted to know if anyone is familiar with or know the reputation of Dr. Scott. Any info is helpful. I'm due to meet with him in a couple of weeks. Thanks in advance!
  3. hey! Question for you...did Des Peres hospital require any money or payments upfront prior to surgery?

Good try. Don't try and get the answer from me. If you'd paid attn to all that was told to you during this LIFE CHANGING process...you would not be trying to to surf around for the answer to something as simple as why can't I eat and drink at the same time...seriously. What were you trying to accomplish by posting what you posted on this thread? If you weren't going to help her why say anything at all? If you have nothing positive to add to this thread then why comment with something negative? Seriously...since you know and remember everything you were told, help a sista out instead of in some aspects bashing people. Be of assistance and value. Your comments were really unnecessary and not helpful at all. Find some compassion for others. Just keeping it real.....Like I said...if you want to think i amRude and get your panties in a bunch...then I can't help you with that...I don't sugar coat what I say...learn the process before you make a decision like this one...and that would avoid you asking such obvious and stupid questions.... ONE: The only "stupid question" is the one you don't ask. There are no stupid questions on this forum. This is meant to help people and not to put them down because of what you think they should know. TWO: I don't recall her saying she actually had the surgery sooo this forum could be apart of her research. THREE: No one asked you to sprinkle sugar over what your comments. Just because you don't like sugar doesn't mean you have to make it salty either. Some things are better left unsaid especially when someone is genuinely asking for help. It just isn't necessary....

Not rude just realistic. That's one of the major points that is explained during this surgery process, it's hard to believe that you don't know this. It doesn't matter if her surgeon explained this to her or not or whether or not she remembered or if you believe her or not. She asked a question and that is what this forum is for...to get help from others going through the same thing. You receive SO MUCH information while going through this journey that it is almost impossible to remember everything while dealing with your own emotions. Answer the question posed and leave out the slick remarks/responses. At least that is how it is coming across and how she took it. I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate it if someone responded that way to a question you posted. @@gabbisha Call one of those numbers your team gave you for any questions. I haven't gone through the surgery yet but what I hear and see commonly is that drinking while eating is a big no no. That video that was posted helped me understand the reasoning better. Good luck with your journey!????

    UUUUGGGHHHH!

. Yes, EXACTLY!! I am in school as well and wanted to be sleeved the beginning of the school year versus the middle or the end. It seems like as of now, they are waiting on the surgeon to do his part before they can submit to my insurance. How were you able to get the insurance approved before they submitted to the insurance company? I have united healthcare. The insurance company kept telling me that they would approve in 5 days -- that's their policy now -- and that they could work on my timeline if only the surgeon's office would get the pre-auth request filed. The surgeon's office was *sure* it would take 30 days to get approval and would not believe me. Also, my insurer changed their requirements in July -- they went from a long list of requirements and a 6 month supervised diet to basically a statement that they trust the surgeon's judgement. My doctor's office didn't believe that. So, I didn't get the insurance approved before the surgeon submitted it -- but my insurer was totally ready to approve, and to work with me. At some point, the nurse/coordinator made it clear to me that she didn't think I could do all the things in a timely manner and that's why she hadn't been pushing it. She thought I still had to do the EKG, etc -- and I had done all of that. So, even after I got my insurance approval, she was like, "Oh, well, but it will still be two weeks or more to get the rest ready." I had to point out that I had already DONE all those things in the first week of August, just to be ready to go. I'm glad I pushed, and it looks like I won't have to miss more than 1 or 2 classes total -- but I am a little irritated at the surgeon's office's handling of it. However, I am VERY happy with my surgeon, the care I've gotten, all that. I just got a call from my surgeons office saying that the surgeon FINALLY gave his piece and that it SHOULD be submitted today or Tuesday....we shall see. For now, I'm really trying not to stress over it because it pisses me off! We will see what happens over the next 2 weeks.
  11. I'm so incredible frustrated with the amount of time it is taking my surgeons office to submit my information to my insurance company! Don't tell me you are going to submit on one and you are no were near close to submitting!! I was so upset earlier today it had me in tears!! I just want to get this train moving! I'm trying to be patient and not think about it but when you are ready to have the surgery YOU ARE READY! I felt like going to the office and faxing the damn papers myself! Ugh! Hope this doctor hurries up and give his portion so it can be on its way to be approved!???????????? #Frustrated

  13. I can't WAIT till United Healthcare responds back with my approval for the sleeve! It seems like it's taking forever even though I believe it's only been a week! I want to call and ask for an update but I know the insurance companies legally have 30 days to respond. I am just sooo ready to begin my new life. Anyone else share my feelings?

hey!! Once you received insurance approval, how soon after that was your surgery scheduled with Dr. Scott?
  15. I have a question regarding eating yogurt. I have heard/seen tons of people say that eating Greek yogurt is a great way of getting in your protein. I have never really liked Greek yogurt BUT I did find one that wasn't so bad but I'm SURE it's not one that is recommended. I tried the strawberry on the bottom Chobani Greek Yogurt and that wasn't so bad. My question is what kind of Greek yogurt is okay and what should I stay away from?

To eat or not to eat! LOL!

Thanks! I figured if it tasted that good to me that it couldn't be what I should be having. I will try the light and fit that you suggested. ????
  17. This was HILARIOUS!! Definitely a great way to start my morning off! Felt like I was watching this all happen on TV! LOL!????

    Over the counter medications help!

I had ACL surgery a couple of years ago and sometime my knee swells on me and I take naproxen to help with that but it's not everyday or even every other day. Of course I'm going to talk to my doctor about it but just looking for opinions on the subject matter. I'm hoping for less knee pain as well once this weight comes off! Can't wait!
  19. I'm reading over a sleeve manual provided by my doctors office and I noticed there was a list of unsafe OTC meds that it says I can not longer take. Is this a permanent thing or a temporary thing? My concern is really the anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen and aleve and Naproxen. Anyone have any info on this? I'll attach pictures as well.
