hey everbody! I just got banded on 2/18 and I feel great other than some back pain from the air and the port site is a little uncomfortable. Other than that I couldn't be any happier or excited! I hope you are all doing well!

hey chrisann, don't forget this is YOUR surgery, it's your lifestyle change and your body - remind your parents you're in control and very confident of how you've handled all of your preop stuff. If you and your nutritionist are on the same page then just give them some time to realize how smoothly things are going. This may just be their way of freaking out over such a big change. Hopefully they'll see how everything is on track and that you're doing a great job! Don't fall off the tracks - you're almost there :-)

    YAYYY!!!! I'm approved!!!!

shoegirl - how long was it from your approval to your surgery? I was approved on the 21st and am waiting to hear from my dr's office... congrats to you!

I want a neck, like one without a double chin in front of it. and I want everything else you guys want too - especially to swap close with thin friends, I have the same taste in clothes as one of my best friends and I can't wait till we can share! I can't wait to shop at Anthropologie. As soon as i'm small enough that will be my big splurge!

hey! i've got a couple of things on my mind.. what did/do you say when people outside of your inner circle start asking why youre losing weight and how youre doing it? I've told my parents, close aunt, and 3 closest friends, but there really isn't anyone beyond that who I want to know. My best friend asked me what i'm going to say or what she should say if people start asking and I honestly have no idea. I guess I could go with "i've been on a strict diet and have been working out", but i'm sure people will pick up on some things (the liquids and small portions, only a couple drinks when I go out). Was anyone else in the same boat? I am really uncomfortable letting outsiders in on such a big journey in my life, it's personal and a little humiliating. The only reason I told my 3 closest friends is because I knew I could tell them and have the opportunity to explain WHY I was having it. Sure, i'm overweight and I qualify, but this surgery is more than that to me. And the gay community in my college town is so nosy - they all know everyone else's business! i'm sure i'll be fresh meat once I get thinner but I want people to keep their claws off me. What's the best way of keep this personal without being too stand-offish? I just don't know how i'll handle these questions once they come my way and i'm really interested in what you guys think. Hope you all are planning on having a great new year, and i'm so thankful i've found you guys - it's already been such a great support :-)

    January Surgery Dates

I want my surgery date so bad.... hopefully i'll find out this week! I went ahead and started my own preop diet - low cal liquids and Protein shakes. My doctor's office isn't so great about letting me in on what to do; I just go by this dumb process map from the class that hangs on my refrigerator. I'm working out and trying to get fit and shrink my liver before surgery! I haven't seen my surgeon since April and was just approved a couple weeks ago, and according to my map I should look forward to surgery with them in the next couple weeks! does this sound a little odd to any of you???
