Getting sleeved tomorrow morning! Anyone else?!
FayBee replied to FayBee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So I'm 2 days post op. I was having a very hard time keeping anything down. And I realized it was more so from the liquid Vicodin and not that actual procedure. Drank water mostly today had a cup of jello split within a 2 hour time span and some chicken broth in the after noon. Taking baby steps here. Feeling a little bit better. Down another 3 lbs. but I'm really struggling to get my walking in, all I want to do is sleep! I did 5 mins in the morning and 5 in the afternoon. -

So I haven't been on this forum in a while. I thought I would be having surgery in January. I have had so much happen within the last 4 months in the meantime I've kept up with my weigh ins and completed all my doctors appointments, well I just got insurance approval for surgery and can have it done as soon as 3/9! My problem is I started a new job 3 weeks ago... I was at my previous job for 3 years and thought that I would still be there and would have been comfortable taking time off but with this being a new job I'm stressing over what to do! I want the surgery but I'm afraid to take time off of this new job. I was told having a desk job some people go back to work after a week. But is that realistic? I know I can't predict complications. I'm just so confused right now.. Any advice would be appreciated.

I had a burger and fries from my favorite place last night. I start my liquid diet on the 9th and in scared. I feel like I should be prepared better mentally.

Is anyone getting cold feet?!
-
Oh awesome! Do you have to do a preOp liquid diet?
-
Thank you for asking. So...the Good...I'm down 11 pounds, I see it in my face and feel it in my body, I was able to wear some "normal" clothes I have (Instead of the "I have no clothes that fit me...so I'm wearing yoga pants and sweatshirt every day" clothes), I can tell my husband notices and likes it, and I feel hopeful again about losing weight after being so defeated by gaining and not being able to lose. The Bad...I'm hungry... a lot... it has been hard for me to do the clear liquids since surgery day (I didn't have to do a pre-op diet), I'm tired (this is my second surgery in 8 weeks), I miss my food routine, and it seems like every where I look, TV, billboard, internet...show people eating or food. But, truly the good outweighs the bad, and I feel so blessed that my insurance paid for this surgery. I now it will get easier when I can eat. I am so excited for you! I have the 7 day liquid diet the last day being clear liquids. I don't know how that's going to work, but I'm going to do my best!

This is so great! Life is too short to work somewhere that doesn't put health and family first. It sounds like you are in the right place. I agree! I was unhappy in my last job, so I'm glad things are finally looking up for me!
-
Thank you! How are you feeling!

I spoke with my Boss. And he Okayed time off! He actually said to me "Health and Family come first" (who says that?!) and said not to worry about making up any work! I knew getting laid off from my last job was a blessing in disguise! I thanked him for being so understanding. My surgery is set for 3/16!!

I did not only because I wasn't even done with my clearances or know whether I would get the approval or not. I was surprised it happened so quickly!
-
Well thank you guys. Wish me luck I plan on talking to my boss today [emoji16]. I don't want to miss the opportunity ( you guys have helped me see that!) and the fact that my insurance is covering it is pushing me to get it done more, I don't know if I will have the same opportunity if my insurance provider changes. I plan on the 3/16 date so I can prepare. A 7 day diet is required. I need to go grocery shopping! I also want to give my employer a little extra time.

Thanks for the advice guys. I appreciate it! The only reason I say a week is because I've had two csections and thankfully recovery for me was not bad at all. I was up and walking around after 3 days. I know it's a different type of surgery, but I'm thinking I maybe able to pull off a week off. I'm an insurance agent so I'm at my desk from 8-5 with an hour lunch.

4 appointments scheduled for tomorrow!
FayBee replied to FayBee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my EGD this morning! Everything went great, I took a little nap, . That's all it felt like. Still a little drowsy from it but that's all. I think all I have left is a stress test and my last weigh in on Nov 30th and than everything should be submitted to my insurance company. I'm excited! -

The appointments went well, I may have sleep Apnea. . The pulmonary function test went fine, they just had my breathe in a machine a few times, than gave me albuterol, rest for 10 mins, than have me redo the machine again. I'm almost out of paid days off this year, so I was trying to minimize my time off. I was thinking to push my surgery until January but at this point the sooner the better. I think that I'm in denial over being depressed. And my weight has so much to do with it. -
December 2015 or January 2016 sleevers ?
FayBee replied to neequa25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm hoping for a December surgery date, but possibly January. My last NUT visit is November 30th. All pre-op testing should be completed by nov. 11th! -
Thanks ladies. I've been looking for a new Pcp and I'm going to call my surgeons office this morning to see if they have any suggestions. Im not letting this woman ruin my plans. I was discouraged for a day but now I feel back on track!

Thank you guys for the encouragement!

I do have a female PCP. I specifically picked one thinking she might be more understanding, Boy was a wrong. I'm going to lose weight and I'm going to do it however I see fit. I started walking on my treadmill 3 weeks ago, no results so far. And I plan on switching doctors, I'm getting new insurance starting August 1st. (More preventative care friendly) the bariatric clinic actually suggested it. And I think I will find a PCP that meets my needs and won't make me feel bad about a decision that I had to really force myself into believing would work for me.

She just comes off as cold, and unforgiving, and unsupportive, I know being overweight is my fault. I did this to myself but I felt that she was saying that I'm taking the easy way out by having surgery.

That's great! I'm hoping mine goes that quickly! I have Blue care complete of Michigan and I was told they were easy about approving the surgery! So I'm crossing my fingers. -
