It is done! I already feel like a different person. I will take some pictures in a few days. Not sure how much tissue he removed. I don't even remember him coming into my room after let alone what he said. lol. I'll ask him at my first post op appointment.

I've wanted a breast reduction since I was in high school. Can't wait till that one is done too.

My price is $6,900.00. I think this is higher than a lot of other people pay due to my location and the current size of my arms. It is going to take longer to do it so I am paying more.

I currently wear a large in tops as long as the material has some give to it. I also have a problem due to my bust size. My arms measure 17 1/2 inches and my bra size is a 38G. My next procedure is a reduction and lift. Not sure what my current weight is. I'll weigh on Tuesday. Hoping to have lost a couple more pounds.

Thanks for the tips! I am worried about the scar but having normal sized arms makes it worth it to me. Your scar doesn't look that bad to me. If that is the worst of it I will be happy.

Thank you! Good luck on your surgery, it will change your life!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! I have two more procedures scheduled after this one. I'm excited to start this next phase in my journey!

When did you start loving your sleeve?
GirthyGirl replied to tonyagetstiny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I definitely had regret in the beginning. I was in a lot of pain and had terrible constipation for about 6 weeks. I think the constipation was making the pain even worse. It did take a while before I was happy to have done it. Probably a couple of months. I am a little over 11 months out and down 110 pounds and no longer diabetic. I can turn over in bed without getting out of breath. My quality of life has improved 110 % . I am now beyond glad I did it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
January or February 2016 Sleevers?

Pet peeve: extra skin.
GirthyGirl replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I will own up to being vain, too. I'm 48 years old and the last time I was skinny was in 1975. When I would talk to people about my upcoming VSG I would always say my biggest fears were ending up with a turkey neck and looking old. My fears have somewhat been realized. I also knew going in I was going to have a lot of loose skin. And I do. I have met with a PS to discuss the three procedures I want done. And they are completely so I can look better. I freely admit it. But never would I have let those concerns hold me back from being sleeved. I went from having a fasting glucose level of 167 to a non fasting level of 78. That alone was worth it. January or February 2016 Sleevers?
GirthyGirl replied to songsmith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was January 27, 2016. Can't believe it's been eleven months! I haven't had my December weigh in yet but as of November I was down 105 pounds. Finally hit onederland! Last time I saw that was in the mid 80's. I am about twenty pounds away from goal. I am having a few plastic surgery procedures so I estimate taking off another 15-20 pounds with that. Not telling anyone. What do you say?
GirthyGirl replied to Ssze1109's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I told everyone I have daily contact with. The day before my surgery I sent out a mass email to all my co-workers telling them I was having the surgery. I didn't post it on social media only because I tend to not post really personal things. But I'm very honest about it. I started a new job five months after the surgery and I was talking about it the first day I was there. My experience has been phenomenal. Nobody has said one unkind thing to me. -
Having dreams that I cheated[emoji87][emoji85]
GirthyGirl replied to jackieemac's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just had a dream last night that I was eating a big bag of candy. The kind you buy for Halloween. It's funny 'cause in my dream I was telling myself to stop. You weigh tomorrow! But I didn't care. I kept on eating it. lol I was so glad when I woke up and realized it didn't actually happen. -

Filled? Discomfort? Satisfied?
GirthyGirl replied to Leopard sleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a few "tells" that let me know I am done eating. I sneeze when I am full. I've done that as long as I can remember. I also sometimes get the hiccups. Since I had the sleeve if I eat to much I feel a lot of pressure in the middle of my chest. It's like the food is just sitting there. Very uncomfortable. I try not to get to that point. For those who had gall bladder out prior to surgery, how different is the sleeve in comparison?
GirthyGirl replied to simpsongrad's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my gallbladder out in 2005 and was sleeved this past January. I recovered very quickly from my gallbladder. Very little pain and was able to return to normal activities in no time at all. With the sleeve I was in a lot of pain and it took me a couple of months before I felt good again. Since my recovery went so well with my gallbladder I thought the sleeve would be the same. It wasn't. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....
GirthyGirl replied to Awjones28's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I guess I've been lucky. I haven't had one rude or insensitive comment and I tell everyone and their brother. Most people have just been curious about what my life is like now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Success stories who had a BMI of 50+?
GirthyGirl replied to mrstkgreene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My BMI was 52 when I started my liquid diet. That was on 01/13/16. Last time I weighed, 08/27/16, I was 37.3. I still have a long way to go but I am thrilled by that number! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
How have your taste buds changed?

Did you tell people you were considering weight loss surgery?
GirthyGirl replied to kembfly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told everyone I see on a regular basis. My coworkers I sent a message the day before my surgery telling them I was having the sleeve. I would have told them sooner but my clearance didn't come through 'til the day before. I don't really care if people judge my decision so I have no problem being upfront about the procedure.
