    1 day away from surgery

I felt the same way. Hey I was able to lose weight with the liver reducing diet perhaps the nay sayers are right. Not! You are making the right decision. Good luck the surgery will be over before you know it
  6. Sounds like you will be in a relaxing place. Get lots of rest, walk and continue your protien and water. Also keep your after care hot line handy and chart how far the hospital is just in case. Otherwise doesn't sound like you going a heavy vacation with the fam. Also check with your doctor about submerging your belly in water. At my two week visit my doc still forbid me from submerging my belly for another 2 weeks. Due to the incisions
  7. I was feeling the same way. Question are u noticing weight lost in other areas of the body? I have noticed my butt is getting smaller and inches off my waist. Now if only I could lose the fat in my breast. :-)

    Days off

One i learned from my career and I am a social worker. Work do not care about you. If you die at work they will roll you over and fill your position with another person, whom they can find very easily. Don't think that you are most important to them, you are still important to you. That's my soap box for today.

    Days off

And also keep in mind that the hospital usually let u know in the discharge paperwork the first 10 days after discharge is the most critical. You are at risk for blood clots and strokes. U don't know how your body will react. If you get signed off for 4 weeks and feel better in two weeks then you can go back to work with your doctor signing off on the fitness for duty.

    Days off

I have a desk job where I sit at a computer all day long. It's very stressful. Many days I am shuffling between buildings for meetings. To keep my sanity and heal, I was able to be signed off for 4 weeks. I used FMLA to keep my job and getting paid from my disability insurance. It's your money. My wife and I saved ahead of time to be sure we had a month worth of bills saved in the bank. I will say that at 2 weeks I felt myself. But glad I took the time off I was able to relax go to support groups and focus on me. I know the talk about the sleeve even my doctor said his wife went back to work 4 days later. However it is abdominal surgery, major surgery. It takes 6 to 8 weeks for the belly to fully heal per my nutritionist
  11. At what stage is it safe to drink green smoothies?

Bus or truck drivers with sleeve

I am 3 weeks post op and to be honest the first two weeks I could not imagine being at work. I went through changes particularly the first week. My temperature was off. Fatigued, discomfort and I did have pain meds but only used maybe the first two days after discharge. I was signed off for 4 weeks and the was due to the encouragement of my wife and my friends and I am so glad I took their advice. My doctor did say to me thay I would not be able to do a full 8 hour day sitting in front of the computer especially during the 1st week

Bus or truck drivers with sleeve

I would suggest taking time off and not be in a rush to get back to work. I know what people say they went back 4 days later. However abdominal surgery is major surgery. And 10 days after discharge from the hospital is critical you run the risk of blood clots during thay time. Also I agree with the fatigue and I took the vitamin B 12 complex and was still fatigue. Everyone body is different and if you have FMLA take it. That will secure your job. And get paid by your disability if you are paying into the insurance it's your money. Your work does not need to know the full details only thay you are having abdominal surgery
