Mine was due 4 days after surgery, and I went to the bathroom after I checked in, and there it was!! Ugh!! It really wasn't a big deal. She said it happens all the time. Let them know when you get checked in and are changing into your robe. They got me a pad and mesh panties. During surgery you'll have a catheter, but it's not a problem. Post op I was given the choice of a pad or an adult diaper. Sounds weird, but I took the diaper. I was only getting up to walk, and wasn't using the bathroom because the catheter was still in. Just made it easier. Once the catheter came out I use my own underwear and pad/tampon as usual. I didn't get to shower until after I was discharged on day three (two nights), so bathing wipes (basically bigger sized baby wipes) were a lifesaver!! Don't worry about it, you'll be fine ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

Thank you!! I'll have a new one up sometime today, as it was my week three weigh in. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

I'm self pay, and when my husband and I were talking about costs, he said one thing to consider was the cost of new clothes. I told him I wouldn't need to go shopping for a while! Lol

thanks! I really like your channel! Awww, thank you! It's been fun to document so far. Can't wait to look back on how far I've come!

I did then same!! I have LOTS of clothing that I'll be able to wear as I drop weight. My weight has fluctuated so much in the last 10 years. I sorted by size, and thinned out the stuff I didn't think I'd wear. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

Me too!

Blew up? Lol.. That really stinks. I only have a desktop, and the lighting in there sucks, so I don't want to bother with just getting a web cam. It will be a while, so iPhone videos it is for a while!

Just my iPhone for now, so the video quality isn't great. For now, I just try to record with lots of natural light when I can. I'd like to eventually get a laptop with a built in camera, but since I was self pay, no splurges in the budget for a while!

I don't know about great, lol, but my channel is Trisha's Sleeve Story. I'm only 2.5 weeks post op, but I've been enjoying making videos. I look forward to looking back at how far I've come. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5VTXLqKa3xU

I'm 32, and am so happy I had the surgery now. I feel "young," just because so many in this forum are 20-30 years my senior. The resounding feeling seems to be, "I wish I had done it sooner," so good for you!! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

I bought this, and had a tiny taste when my husband had it. Not bad at all!!! I like spaghetti squash, but it's just not the same as chewing Pasta. I'm looking forward to having this in my later stages to get my pasta fix on occasion. Edamame is super good for you! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

Your surgeon's post-op liquid/food phases
ttdish replied to Kgl24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon's plan allows real food very early on. I was having cottage cheese and yogurt on day 3. He's been doing it this way for years with no problems. Here is what the plan looks like: I also did a YouTube video describing my first few weeks, since it is SO different from most of the plans I see. No clear or full liquid phase at all once I was discharged. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KWmDNXTFBtw ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~ -
I've never craved veggies in my life, and now I can't wait until I can eat them! I'm 2.5 weeks post op, and I get to add veggies back in at 4 weeks (for soft veggies, 6 weeks for raw). My plan allows real food very early on, but pretty much exclusively high Protein foods, like cheese and meats. I want those veggies! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

Im scared to over sip on my first day
ttdish replied to Ghada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I WISH I had sipped more in the hospital, just to get used to it. I was on IV fluids, so I knew I couldn't get dehydrated. Then when I was discharged, I was definitely not prepared to sip as much as I needed to get my fluids in. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~ -
Found and followed you! Mind if I piggyback and share my channel as well? I'm 2.5 weeks post op. And started my videos during my pre-op diet. If this link doesn't work, my channel is called "Trisha's Sleeve Story." https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5VTXLqKa3xU

How much are you able to eat 1 month out?
ttdish replied to samskiles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've lost just over 21 pounds so far. My 14 month old weighs 22 pounds. I'm like, holy crap, I lost a whole baby! Lol ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~ -
I downloaded an app called "next bite" to help me slow down when I ate. It is a timer that goes off at the interval you choose. I set it for one minute, and chew my small bites for about 30 seconds, and then I wait for the timer. It has REALLY helped! I'm using it less and less, because it's becoming a habit now, but I still set a timer every time I eat so I can make sure it's taking me 15-30 minutes (depending on portion size) to eat my meals. If I'm eating too fast, I take a break, and start again slower. I'm only 2.5 weeks out, but this has been working really well for me so far. Good luck!! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

Hi all.. I thought I'd share a link to a video in my YouTube channel from 2 days post op. I've been recording my story for a couple of weeks on my channel (you can google "Trisha's Sleeve Story) to find me. I'm only 4 days post op, so I'll be adding videos as my story continues! http://youtu.be/5aHSJ2mj5I0

Just testing out my new ticker to see if it works. Figured my own post was the best place to try it. Dang it. Lol

I found quite a few videos on YouTube that went over their hospital bag packing lists. I found them very helpful because they explained what they packed, and what they actually used. I found them so helpful, in fact, that I made my own video. My YouTube channel is "Trisha's Sleeve Story," but you can just search VSG hospital bag and you'll get quite a few results.

Protein powder - Smaller scoop?
ttdish replied to ttdish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm actually looking for something I can add to my food- yogurt, Soups, etc. that's why I want a small scoop, because my portion size is so small. I tried putting some in refried Beans, and the amount I needed to add to get a decent amount of Protein was equal to the potion of my beans! I'm going to try one of the ones listed that has 25 or so grams of protein per scoop. At least then I can add 12+ grams of protein using half a scoop. -
Protein powder - Smaller scoop?
ttdish replied to ttdish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is 100% whey as well... Not sure why it has so much less protein. What brand do you use? That's exactly what I'm trying to do -
I'm looking for feedback on how your surgeon was chosen
ttdish replied to Familyte's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Honestly.... I went with the least expensive all inclusive surgeon I could find who practiced at a Bariatric Center of Excellence. Don't get me wrong, once I found him, I did my research, and would have changed my mind if any red flags appeared, but they didn't. I'm self pay, and was willing to go out of state, but not out of country. I had a good experience -
