  1. I'm self pay, so I made my decision without consulting my PCP. When I finally had to go see her to get my pre-op labs and chest X-Ray ordered, I was nervous that she wouldn't be supportive. I was so relived when she said she was happy for me, and that she'd heard lots of success stories about the sleeve! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  2. Usually when people post this kind of recipe, I take a look, and move on. Too much fat, or carbs, or requires special ingredients that I don't have on hand... But... Holy Hannah! Egg, cocoa, sweetener and baking soda, and boom! Cake! And it was good?? I'll be trying this one for sure! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  3. I'm 5 weeks out today. I think you read about a lot of people who have miserable recoveries, or loads of regret in the first few weeks. Keep in mind, that those people need a place to vent, so they come here. I think most people have a much better recovery, they just don't post about it (what's there to post? I'm two weeks post op. Feeling good. The end. LOL). If these boards were your only measuring stick, you wouldn't believe that the complications rate for this surgery are very low. I've had a very smooth recovery. My surgeon had me on real food very early, so that helped (sometimes I think the misery in the first few weeks comes from the liquid diet. I would imagine it's mentally and physically tough). I have zero regrets. I still have minor muscle pain, but am otherwise back to normal- well, except for the 37 pounds I've shed along the way (including 2 wk pre-op diet). It's good to have realistic expectations, that there may be pain, nausea, etc, but know that it may also be much easier than you expect. Try to remember the big picture, and know that the hard parts are such a tiny part of this whole journey. People on these boards may disagree on a lot of things, but the overwhelming majority are glad they had they had the surgery. You can't count the people who regret it in the period immediately post op, as that nearly always passes. Follow your surgeon's instructions. Don't be afraid to take the pain medicine (that's what it's for!). Walk as soon as you can. Get your Water and Protein in. Rest, and let yourself heal. Some things are out of your control, but these are the things YOU can do to make your recovery as smooth as possible. Good luck!! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  4. You are only eat 2 oz of Protein 3x per day? That's it? If that is correct, I'd say you are most definitely not eating enough. Remember, you made a huge change and sacrifice for a lifetime change. It's been 7 weeks. Be patient.

    Water Bottle Recommendations

I second the hydroflask suggestion. Keeps Water ice cold for a very long time. I got the standard mouth, and the sports top. It's easier to sip than from just an open mouth. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  6. Have you looked on Pinterest? I have a ton of low carb, high Protein recipes pinned. Not all of them will be soft foods stage acceptable, but many are. I even have a whole board devoted to Soup. I LOVE soup. If you want to peek at my boards, my username is Ttdish. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  7. I went to a music festival 3 weeks pre-op, and had put all my dirty clothes into a garbage bag to take home. I accidentally left the bag there, and no one noticed, because it was a garbage bag. I was pissed, because I had so few summer clothes that fit me, but I took some solace in the fact that it was almost fall, and the hope they next summer, none of them would fit me! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  8. I love these things!! And they are the perfect size for a meal for me right now.

    Learn from my mistake

Sounds like this didn't apply to the OP, but be aware that some surgeon's plans do allow for food very early on. I was on soft foods (tiny portions) starting at day 3 post op. I'm now 4.5 weeks post op, and have not had any problems tolerating anything. No nausea, and haven't thrown up even once. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  10. I love turkey sticks (like beef sticks, much softer than jersey). The brand I like is Old Wisconsin. I'm only 4.5 weeks post, so they are actually a meal m for me with some cheese when I need a quick lunch, but will likely use them as Snacks later on if I need something. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

    Constipation....

I'm 4.5 weeks out, and I have to take milk of magnesia once a week to go. I should probably add a fiber supplement until I can get more veggies in, but I haven't yet. The milk of magnesia works like a charm, with minimal uncomfortableness. I take it before bed, and go when I wake up. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  12. Geez, I'd almost rather have my first stall at 3 weeks than 3 months... At least right now I'm expecting it to happen. If I got to 12 weeks without one, I wouldn't see it coming.

    Unflavored protein?

How big is the scoop, and for how many grams of protein?

    no support

Tell him you are glad he thinks your are sexy the way you are, but you aren't HEALTHY. If he wants to keep your damn sexy self around a lot longer, this is the way to do it! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  15. I should add, I was on the above meal schedule starting on day 3! I certainly couldn't get even 1 oz in at a time the first few days, but it was nice to be able to chew, and have actual food at meal times. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  16. At one week I was eating three mini-meals of soft Protein and protein shakes. A mini-meal consisted of 1-2 oz of things like cottage cheese, yogurt, ground meat, deli turkey, etc. Things that were soft and I could chew to a mush. My surgeon's plan is pretty progressive. I'm now 3.5 weeks out, and feeling great! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  17. I have a 14 month old, and I'm 3.5 weeks post op. I'm a SAHM, so he is a major momma's boy. I can't lift him (well I'm not supposed to), and that's really hard! The first two weeks I definitely couldn't lift him. I couldn't even change his diaper because he is so wiggly, and I couldn't do the sudden movements, and it was tough getting up from a seated position on the floor. He would reach for me a lot, and it made me sad not to lift him. I would have my hubby pick him up and put him next to me so we could snuggle Now I can lift him a few times a day, and I'm not in pain at the end of the day, so I think I'm pretty much ok.

    Eating Real Food

I agree that it sounds like a lot of food, but my plan calls for 3-4 oz portions of Protein 3 times a day starting at 2 weeks! No veggies though. I can't finish that much in one sitting, so I just portion it out, and eat what I can in 30 minutes. I was told to stop eating at 30 minutes (assuming I'm not still hungry), rather than sitting and trying for an hour just to get the full portion down. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

    Pain! Help

Do you have pain meds? Or even Tylenol? No sense in being a hero and fighting through the pain, that's what the meds are for I definitely had one spot on my left side (actually a little below an incision) that has been giving me trouble. I'm just over three weeks out, and the last two days have been the first days when I've been almost completely pain free. Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  20. yes im trying to head back in the right direction as well the pounds aren't failing off quite as fast anymore its time to really focus I think the time to really focus is long before the six month mark. This isn't really directed at you, because what is done is done, and you just have to do your best to get back on track, but more for people (like me) who are early in their journey. I think the first year is the time to retrain your brain while the restriction is at it's best, so when your body adjusts and your are able to eat more, you've broken those carb addictions, or whatever your vice may be. I'm not saying I'm going to be perfect in my first year (hell, I'm only three weeks out), but I have to keep reminding myself that the things I'm "giving up" for now may have a small place back in my diet someday, or (even better!) I may not even crave them any more! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

    Edamame pasta

I get to start veggies next week, and am so excited to add a small portion of these to my meal. I assume I get to count them as a veggie, since the only two ingredients are edamame and Water. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

    Day after surgery!

I've heard heating pads can help with the pain too. Maybe try alternating ice and heat? Glad all went well!!! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  23. Don't get discouraged, not everyone has a miserable first few weeks! I mentally prepared myself for the worst, but I just passed the three week mark, and it hasn't been bad at all. Biggest hurdle has been lack of energy, but I'm working on increasing my calories to overcome that. Just wanted to throw that out there, because of the earlier comment. Prepare for the worst, but know you might be pleasantly surprised at how your recovery goes. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  24. I can't wait to get off my CPAP!! I snore like a beast without it! I figure I need to at least get well below the weight I was at when I was diagnosed with sleep apnea before I even bother trying. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
