  1. I want to print this and put it on my fridge! Such a concise way cover it all! Plus, I really want to follow a plan for increasing calories in the same manner that you did so I can get to the end of the losing phase with a functioning metabolism. Great response Ann!! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  2. I really like this idea! Or, you could go back to just Protein shakes for a few days, and tell everyone you are on a Protein shake diet to keep the holiday weight away. If they are used to you being on wild diets, this wouldn't sound so far fetched. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  3. If you really want to be punished, you really should have phrased your post along the lines of.... "OMG, I ate so much garbage the last few days. Everyone tell me it's ok, please! Because I'm not going to change my binging ways, and you are all stick-in-the-muds who think your are perfect!" People who have jumped all over your butt, lol.. But seriously, I think it's good that you are owning your mistakes. As someone recovering from binge eating disorder, I know it can be painful to actually list out all of your food sins. I won't add much else, as there has already been some solid advice given (particularly about getting that sugar out of your system, and maybe talking to a professional about what happened to work on strategies to prevent a repeat). None of this is easy! It sounds like you want to put in the work, and just had a few bad days. You can do this!! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  4. I find it very hard to believe that you did "plenty of research," when in your OP you were shocked at not being allowed bread or Pasta for 6 months, because you "haven't seen that anywhere!" Every plan I've seen includes restrictions on these types of carbs for 6 months or longer. Every book I've read stresses that this type of food is off limits for a very long time if you want to be successful in the long term. This information is EVERYWHERE. Maybe you only absorbed what you wanted to hear (similar to how you are taking the responses to your post, which were actually been pretty nice, honest and helpful until you got your panties in a wad). If you expect to be able to eat whatever you want post-op, then you can expect to have similar results to what you had pre-op after the honeymoon phase is over. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  5. I don't live in S. Florida, but I flew down there from Minnesota for surgery with Dr. Shillingford on 8/31. His self pay prices are great! And his post-op food plan is so awesome, with no miserable weeks on a liquid diet. I was scared to be as liberal as it was (for example, soft foods starting on day 3!), but I've had a flawless recovery, no problems with any foods, and am down 52.4 pounds in 11 weeks (9 weeks post op, plus 2 week pre-op diet). I don't usually do this, but I'm including a link below to a YouTube video I did describing my post-op diet, since it is so different than almost every other plan I've seen! I'd recommend him to anyone! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~ https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KWmDNXTFBtw
  6. There is so many contradictionsIt's a typo she meant to say the idea that you CAN'T Incorporate fruit into a healthy diet is ridiculous. No contradictions. I wasn't sure if she meant my post, or just different surgeon's rules in general, but I noticed the typo too and fixed it in original post
  7. I'm Minnesota too!Me too!!! Which part? Southwest metro, near Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, etc.. You? Elk river is quite far for me, about an hour. But thanks for the offer!! I live in Woodbury. I don't think that's too far? I've only lived here for a couple years so I'm not sure where everything is. Lol I'm about 40 minutes from Woodbury.

  10. I had my surgery in Boca Raton, FL with Dr. Shillingford. Price was $10,000 all inclusive.
  11. This. Just a new habit you have to get used to. It's better for you anyways, so you'll appreciate it once you get used to it. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  12. I see so many sweeping statements, surgeons and nutritionists telling people to "never eat this again." At least with crap food, it makes sense, but to say you can't incorporate FRUIT into a healthy diet is ridiculous to me. I assume then, that you also aren't allowed any regular sugar, ever again... I can't get on board with being told I can't have something EVER. That's just not realistic. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  13. This sounds counter-intuitive, but I spent a lot of time pinning low carb, high Protein recipes. Seeing all of the delicious foods I could still eat, helped me care less about the "junk" I shouldn't have anymore. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

    Guacamole

I eat it with a spoon with refried Beans, melted cheese, and some salsa. Experiment. I haven't tried it but maybe you could eat it with eggs or something else. Hmmm... A spoon might be a bit TOO crunchy..... ????.
  15. What are your current food restrictions? I'm 8 weeks out, and have no restrictions, except to eat high Protein, and avoid processed carbs. I use Pinterest to find awesome high protein low carb recipes. If you use Pinterest, feel free to check out my food boards. My username is Ttdish. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

My underwear are too big! Lol!! You think about the clothes getting too big, but when your underwear are falling down in your baggy jeans, you remember them too!! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

    Book recommendations

I hate to say this on this forum in particular (sorry Alex!), but I thought the big book on gastric sleeve was a waste of money. If you've already done a decent amount of research on the surgery, you won't get much else out of it. Plus, they need a new editor/proofreader! Typos all over, a graphic of a gastric bypass captioned with a description of gastric sleeve... I don't know, some people love it, but it didn't do anything for me, and the errors drove me crazy. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

    Blog share

I enjoyed following video blogs on YouTube when I was pre-op, and still do. I started my own channel when I started my pre-op diet. It's been fun recording my journey. There are quite a few active VSG video bloggers in all stages of this journey. Here is my channel, If you are interested: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCfMSOUsiP9VXUbd6KDnkwqw ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

    Guacamole

Any suggestions on something salty or crunchy to eat with guacamole? I love the stuff, but I haven't made any because I associate it so strongly with tortilla chips. Hmmm... Maybe toasted turkey pepperoni "chips?" Or homemade cheese crisps? But dang, that's getting up there for fat content. Bonus points for thinking of something that could get me enough Protein to call it a meal! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  20. I definitely think I had feelings similar to withdrawal. As with anything, the longer you go without what you crave, the easier it is to say no to it. So we get take advantage of this period of no hunger to help make that easier. I'm not 8 weeks out, and being around the food I can't (well, shouldn't) have doesn't even really bother me anymore. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

    Mental Image Reset

I know exactly how you feel! I look at pictures of myself, and I'm like, is this what everyone else saw? Because I never looked that bad/big in the mirror! And now I'm super critical when I look in the mirror... Am I seeing what everyone else sees? I can see my face is smaller, but don't see much change in my body (without before and after photos). It's just so bizarre that when we look in the mirror and are overweight, we don't see how big we are, but as we are losing weight, we can't see how small we've gotten. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

    Is it Depression?

Also sleeved 8/31!! I have a hard time with this too... I actually take medication for depression, which is very well controlled, but this is different. If I'm feeling flat about my surgery, or I don't really want to talk about it, it's because I don't want to be reminded of how many times I had to fail to get to this point. I'm thrilled with my progress (45 pounds including 2wk pre-op diet)! I know it was the right decision, and I'm so happy happy I did it. But along with those feelings, are feelings of sadness that I let it get so bad, disappointed that I couldn't do it "on my own," embarrassment at the weight I've lost and gained again and again, for everyone to see. Every other aspect of my life is getting better, I just don't want to think about how I got here. I think for me, these feelings aren't going to go away for a while. Maybe it just hasn't sunk in yet.... I've been this weight before, so it doesn't feel that much different from all the other times I've lost, just to gain it back. I've been overweight for a long time, it's going to take more than 8 weeks to undo the body issues. I know I'll get there. As for energy, I still have days where I'm lacking energy and feeling sluggish. And if I do anything physical, even walking, I'm exhausted for the rest of the day. I try to keep my water/protein/calories/vitamins on track, but we are still adjusting to eating so few calories! I think I'm going to give it more time, try to be more active, up my Water, Proteins and calories as appropriate, and wait to see if my energy levels increase. Good luck to you on this journey! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  23. I'm 8 weeks post op, and I feel like the pre-op diet has been the most difficult part for me... It's hard to basically go cold turkey into a super strict diet while you are still hungry. Post-op is much different, because the hunger isn't there. Just try to think of the big picture! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

    Vitamin cost

Most of what I got in chewable I'm not going to get in chewable again when they run out. Some are way more expensive, and I tolerate full sized pills easily. I'm 8 weeks post op. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
