Yeah, it's definitely WEIRD. But once you finally fall asleep, you don't really notice it.

Can you identify this? ???? (NSV!)

Lol! This is an awesome post! I loved when I first started noticing my collarbones again! Good for you!! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~ -
I know this isn't what you are asking, but the fatigue might just be a product of not eating enough calories. Are you doing any kind of exercise? If so, that is probably not enough. I think 500-600 is on the low end for 2.5 months out, but opinions vary on this. I am also about 2.5 months out, and I aim for (but rarely meet) 800 calories per day, but usually end up closer to 750. I noticed a big change in my energy when I upped my calories and added exercise, and I'm still losing at a good rate (down about 54 lbs including 2 week pre-op diet). It couldn't hurt to try adding an extra 100 or more calories per day. If it doesn't help, and you feel it is slowing your loss, you can always go back, no harm done. As for the skin... Ugh.. I don't have any advice, but I feel you. It sucks. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

I flew from Minnesota to Florida for surgery, so I know it's not quite the same thing, but my sister and 13 month old (at the time) came with. She took care of him, and it worked out fine. He got a bit cranky when I couldn't hold him, but nothing a bribe with an applesauce pouch couldn't handle I'm not saying it will work for everyone- I've got a super easygoing kiddo, for one thing, but it worked out fine for us! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

It's much less common with the sleeve, but it can happen. Often people confuse a bad reaction to what they ate (diarrhea) with dumping syndrome, but diarrhea alone doesn't mean you had dumping syndrome. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

I had mine a couple of years ago, because I was constantly exhausted, and snores loudly. It had gotten worse with weight gain. It's definitely weird.... You are all hooked up, and sleeping in a weird place. When I had my study done, they only woke you to try the CPAP if you had a certain number of apnea events per hour. I was just barely under the threshold, which must be high, because I "woke up" about every three minutes. No wonder I was so tired!!! My only advice is to try to do something relaxing before you are supposed to go to sleep. I was in the bed trying to fall asleep for like an hour, and I wished I had brought a book or something. Here's me, all hooked up, lol... ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

Did you have to do a sleep study? Or did he review your memory card from your machine or anything? This has been happening to me, and it's really disrupting my sleep! I was up with such a dry mouth that j can't go back to sleep without Water. When I got my APAP, my sleep really improved, but now it's making it harder to sleep. I think part of the problem is that my mask is now too big for my smaller face, but I don't want to have to buy a new mask unless I know that my apnea is going to still be a problem for a while. I have spent a couple of nights without it on (I have been compliant with use for years), and my husband says I'm not snoring. I know that doesn't necessarily mean that my sleep apnea is gone, but it's a good sign! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

Have you tried Fair Life milk? 2 servings of the fat free milk (16 oz) has almost the same amount of Protein as a premier Protein shake (26 vs 30 g), and the same number of calories. I'm getting really tired of the shakes, and thinking about swapping my shakes for this milk some days, just for a break. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

What are some of your NSV

Someone commented on one of my YouTube videos that they could see my collarbones. I was probably way more excited than I should have been about that, but it made my day! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~ -
Cash pay doctors in the US
ttdish replied to losing4ree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 8/31 by Dr. Shillingford in Boca Raton, FL, and I travelled there from Minnesota. Despite all the great stories about Mexico, I just couldn't bring myself to go out of the country for surgery. Cash price was $10,000, so we made it work. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~ -
Worried I can't do the pre-op diet!
ttdish replied to Castillo15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly, the only thing that kept me (mostly) faithful to my pre-op diet, was fear that if i didn't follow it, my surgery would be cancelled or there would be problems during surgery. As a self pay patient, traveling out of state for surgery, that was NOT an option. I also thought, if I can just get through these next two weeks.... My life is going to change! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~ -
I was self pay, and flew to Florida for a great US self pay price ($10,000). I had to have some testing done, but pretty much could have scheduled any time after my tests were done. It was about two months from my first contact with the surgeon's office, and my surgery date. It could have been much quicker, but it took a couple of weeks to get in with my PCP to get my tests done, and I had conflicts that pushed it back about two weeks. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

Hi Dawn! I just started exercising three weeks ago. I only went once my first week, and then twice the last two weeks. I had a HUGE loss (6.6 pounds) last week, so I'm assuming getting even a little exercise in is making a difference. I'm going to start going 3 times a week starting this week. It's a moderately intense workout, with cardio and resistance training. Have you talked to your surgeon about exercise options that might work for you? Maybe something in the pool? Just remember it doesn't matter how fast or slow the weight comes off, just as long as the scale keeps moving in the right direction! Keep following your plan, and try not to get discouraged ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

Talking myself out of surgery
ttdish replied to Tssiemer1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, when I was having doubts, I just had to ask myself.... "Where do I want to be a year from now?" If I didn't do the surgery, I knew I'd be the same weight (or heavier), with the same health issues and miserable about the way I looked and felt. I'd still have trouble keeping up with my son. If I did the surgery, I knew the possibilities were endless! I could be thinner (close to goal even!), healthier, and HAPPIER! I could be chasing my son around without being winded, and actually get in front of the camera for pictures with him! I know I made the right choice for me and my family. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~ -

A friends WLS post op diet plan is causing a great bit of a WHOA! for me!
ttdish replied to Stevehud's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I could eat cottage cheese, yogurt, ground meat (except red meat), etc starting on day three. I had zero pain, nausea or vomiting. I've seen enough posts from people who are miserable during the first few weeks post-op on clears and full liquids, and I never felt deprived. I was nervous going in, because it was so liberal compared to others, but having been through it, I'm happy for the plan I had! I actually think the strangest part about his plan is that he can have veggies that early. There is so little room for anything, I'm surprised he can eat anything that isn't a source of Protein. ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~ -
Blender or nutribullet?
ttdish replied to provenzee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love, love, love my Vitamix, but now that everything I make is in such small portions, it's not very useful. I'd have to make double the size protein shake I'd need to get it to pick it all up in the blades -
I Fell Off The Wagon Big Time. Please Judge Me Harshly!
ttdish replied to Proud2BMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I treated myself to a kids size popcorn the other day at the movies. I also poured a bunch of extra popcorn salt in a container and brought that in. When I had finished what I felt comfortable with (maybe a third?) I doused the rest of it in so much salt that it was inedible. I *think* I would have been able to control myself, but this way I took myself out of the equation. -
I was sleeved on 8/31. I lost 12 pounds on my pre-op diet, and 40 pounds so far post-op, for a total of 52 pounds. I'm lucky in that I haven't had a stall yet. Two weeks ago I had a 1 pound loss, and thought it was time fore the weight loss to slow down, and then had a 6.6 pound loss the next week! SW was 245, and I'm down to 192.6. I'm so thrilled with my progress so far!! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

I've always had trouble wearing heels (yes, I know they aren't great for your feet), but I've always been overweight to some extent... I'm wondering who had trouble with heels at a high weight, but can wear them now that they have lost the weight? I don't know if the problem is my weight, or my feet, or both, but I'd love to have some hope that I can occasionally wear heels once I'm at a healthy weight. Thanks!! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~

Yogurt, Milk - Dr against both for several months
ttdish replied to HopeandAgony's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This (but not the yogurt/milk restriction) sounds very similar to my post-op plan. I was really nervous about having solids so soon, since it's much different that most other plans I've read about, but I have to say, when I see so many posts about people being super miserable on their clear or full liquid diet for WEEKS post op, I'm really glad I had the plan I did. I never felt hungry or deprived, I had a super smooth recovery and my loss has been great! I followed my plan as written, and never had a single episode of nausea or vomiting. I'm now 9 weeks post op, and feel like I'm eating like a fairly normal person, just very low carb, and small portions. But yeah, to allow cottage cheese, but not yogurt, and to group cows milk and almond milk into the same category is just... Odd... I hope you get some good answers that help clarify things for you. Please report back on what they say, as I think many of us are curious! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
