    Pre-op liver shrinking diet...

My current weight is 228 and I was told 2 week of semi liquids which include 3-4 protein shakes as a meal replacement and a lean cuisine for dinner. They didn't mention jello or popsicles but I'm sure any sugar free should be fine.

    Pre-Op Liquid Diet

My nutritionist said the best time to weigh ourself is in the morning before eating anything. So that might be accurate. Starting my liquid diet today and hoping Aug 4 gets here in no time.

    bmi at revision surgery

    That's great, congrats!
  6. We definitely should Niki. I start me pre-op diet Tuesday. Good luck on yours and keep in touch.
  7. I'm usually ok with shots, I.V's etc but the idea of sicking a needle into my belly gives me the heebie-jeebies. In reality I should be used to it after all the fills and unfills of my band. I guess it just caught me off guard that no one had mentioned this to me before, not my doctor nor my co-workers whom have had the procedure before. I'll just have to do like you and mentally prepare for it.
  8. I just read about that this week. Do they do that while we're under or fully awake?
  9. Of course QuilterGal, how exciting!

    Labor Day Challenge!

My weight this week is 226.
  11. @@ptsmile I live in Whittier, PIH is my medical designated hospital but was sent to Fountain Valley for mine. I was hoping I could stay at PIH with one of the doctors I saw there during the doctor's talks. @@Niki15 I'm having the bypass August 4th. I know a week can seem forever. I had my one on one scheduled for today and it was postponed, definitely can be upsetting as it interferes with our plans but it'll all work out you'll see.
  12. Ptsmile welcome onboard. I'm from California too, by the Los Angeles area. Where about are you and what procedure are you having?

    bmi at revision surgery

I had my band removed at 25 BMI due to complications... a slipped band (twice), acid reflux, Gerd and pain. However, I did not qualify for a revision since my BMI was so low and my sleep apnea went away. Since the removal I have gained all my weight back and more due to medical issues and medication I'm on. I am now at a 36 BMI and reapplied for a revision but my old insurance denied it 3 times stating it was not medically necessary although I regained, BMI is over 36 and sleep apnea returned. I went through the process over and over, classes, paperwork, dr appts you name it and although my band was removed due to medical necessity I struggled to finally get the revision approved. Point is you may have a difficult time getting a revision approved if you are at a low BMI.

    Pre-Op confusion

Xylena I had to do 18 nutrition classes (once a week) where I had to weight-in at least twice a month, a doctor's talk and have a psychological assessment before my insurance even considered my case. Once all that was done my PCP submitted the documentation and request to Blue Cross. Within 2 weeks I received my referral to the Bariatrics office (also a Blue distinction center). I saw the surgeon, the center had me do one more nut class and one more doctor's talk class before they submitted for surgery approval. It really depends on your insurance guidelines. I'd call the medical group and the Bariatric center to see what route to go.
  15. It's hard but you're getting it done. I have to start planning and doing that too. I have my one on one on the 15th which is when I'll find out if I have a pre-diet but I plan on starting Monday regardless.

Anyone else as scared as i am?

Last week I was ok, this week I am going through the same fears as you. I was thinking, do I really want to do this? I don't need the surgery... I can just be disciplined. Without thinking I walked over to the kitchen and ate a piece of cake and then it dawned on me. Who am I kidding? I don't have the will power to do this alone. I know if I cancel the surgery I will regret it and worse having to wait again for an approval again. I know the surgery is not a magic pill but I do need the restriction and the discipline that comes with it. Although I'm scared and worried I have faith that all will be well, God willing.
  20. Thank you Keejay, to you as well. KrissieAnn you did good then. It's definitely surreal. Mine will be exactly eight month from my initial consultation. After all the requirements were meet and sent for approval, I was approved for surgery in 5 days instead of the 30 day turnaround I was told was the standard. So I was in disbelief at first.
  21. Congratulations KrissieAnn.
  22. Congratulations! Beautiful blue we're schedule the same day.
