  1. I'm nine weeks out and have no regrets about having gastric bypass. I'm down 46 pounds. yay! But I'm getting tired of having to always wonder if i can eat something or if i'm eating too much or if I'm eating too fast. I hate the feeling I get when my stomach doesn't like a food, and actually, I haven't even ventured out very far yet from yogurt, Soup, Protein shakes, you know; the 'slider' foods. This morning i had Cream of Wheat. With plenty of fairlife milk so it was creamy. I didn't eat much, perhaps 1/4-1/3 cup. So I don't think i overate. I had no desire or room to add fruit as my nutritionist suggests. I waited an hour to two hours and tried to drink some Water and my stomach wants nothing to do with it. I thought i was going to throw up but it seems to have calmed down now. But my stomach feels uncomfortable...so i am not feeling good right now. Ugh. i hate this part of the journey! I've had cream of wheat several times before. I don't remember it being a problem. Your comments? I feel like I can't even take my Vitamins right now.
  2. So today I am confused. This morning i went out to Breakfast with my family and had about 1/4 cup of cottage cheese plus coffee (30 min before and 30 min after eating). At lunch time I ate a "think thin" Protein bar (20g). I grabbed a bottle of Water for the afternoon--I was going to be out and about on errands. Well as the afternoon went on, my stomach started feeling weirder and weirder...as in "not good." I really couldn't even drink the water. I thought i might throw up about 4pm but it didn't happen. But just didn't feel good. Now, at 6:35, i'm having a premier Protein shake to at least get my protein in for the day. Why does my pouch cause me such frustration? Maybe it didn't like the Protein Bar? But I ate one before without a problem.
  3. I ate half a banana this morning. I'm one month out. I'm having trouble with leg cramps at night and my NUT told me i could eat a mashed banana during this pureed phase. But i felt sick an hour later. I am trying to figure out why. Could it be the banana? Anyone else have trouble with the sugar in bananas?
  4. @@DDN Yes, my nutritionist said i could try 1/2 a banana at that time because i was having leg cramps, but it didn't go so well, made me sick. But now, 10 weeks out, I can happily enjoy 1/2 banana without a problem. Maybe even work up to a whole banana at some point...i do love them. I have some blueberries in the fridge that i've been wanting to try, but a little fearful. I'm in that "trial and error" stage (maybe it never ends?) where I'm able to try other foods now other than soups and yogurt and cottage cheese.

No dumping? I thought any sugar would bring on dumping?
  9. @@Djmohr Thanks for the tip. I'm not a huge tea drinker, more of a coffee drinker...but i may have to check this out. I do like Chai tea...
  10. It took a long time today, but I finally started feeling better at about 4pm this afternoon! I had 1/4 c cream of wheat this morning and nothing until about 2 (i couldn't eat or drink anything), when i had a premier protein shake, or rather, half of one. I drank the other half about 3:30....and as I said, started feeling better a while after that. It wasn't a great food day but i did get my protein in...had a quest bar tonight (20 g) as a snack, and earlier,1/3 cup clam chowder and 3 crackers for dinner. Didn't get all my fluids in, though.
  11. @@Djmohr where do you buy the chai tea and what kind of chocolate?

    Hungry after bypass

I remember being very excited about being able to chew my chewable vitamin back at that stage!
  13. I'm glad the recovery time improves over time, but I'm not happy to hear that even you--people who are quite a ways past surgery--still have this happen. This is definitely a huge lifestyle change. People need to realize that presurgery. Although there are so many benefits...i guess it's just something that must be expected, and patiently endured.

  15. I was also told to take flintstones complete and I do, twice a day, without a problem.
  16. i'm six weeks out from surgery, 40 pounds down including pre-surgery diet, and i'm feeling kneecaps! Before i had big rounded knees in the middle of my leg, but now, i have bony protrusions starting to stick up! So cool! (It's the little things!)

    No One In The Sixties?

@@StabMyFinger Wow, what a long journey you've had. I'm so glad your spirits are still positive and you're happy you had the surgery! God bless you!
  18. I'm six weeks out on Tuesday. i went out to lunch with friends today and decided to order something...knowing I'd take most of it home. i ordered a "chicken salad plate." It had fresh tomatoes and cucumbers on it, which I knew I could not eat yet (as well as lettuce). I ate 1/4 of a piece of toast, a whole hard boiled egg, and about 4 small bites of chicken salad. And I have been paying for it all afternoon...not throwing up, but my stomach has not been happy. Burping. Feeling so full. It didn't happen right away, but took an hour and then for the next four hours. I am just now starting to feel a little better. I couldn't even drink anything, that made it worse. Argh! How long is it going to take before I know what I can and can't eat. It's kind of frustrating. I'd rather not eat much at all (not hungry) but i know I need to, and I read that I need to in order to keep the weight loss going. So I'm a bit frustrated today. But NO REGRETS at having WLS!
  19. @@Spiceyfrog It's scary! Makes me not want to try new foods. I'm at six weeks out tomorrow so the time has come to continue soft but try new things here and there and....I'm afraid to! i hate that "painful" feeling of too much/too fast/wrong food...or whatever it is that causes the pain! it makes me want to stick with yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese and Protein shakes...those are safe
  20. @@KirstyKirst81 I'd like to join the december Facebook group, please. I had RNY on December 1st.

    Cards when eating in restaurants?

I just got one last week at my support group meeting. Don't know if I'll make use of it or not. We'll see!
  22. I think you're right. This was the first time I ate a hard boiled egg. I think it all added up to too much. I still have to get it through my head that life (eating) is going to be so different from before surgery. I knew it would be, but I keep forgetting....
  23. @@taysidebell That's my problem...i don't know what the "signal" is yet! You're right, when this happens, it takes a long, long time to feel better again. Ugh. I'm having premium Protein drink for dinner...i think that will go down fine and at least I'll have my protein in for the day, if not my fluids.
  24. Oh, and let me confess this, which i forgot to add. I forgot and drank half a cup of coffee right before eating. I didn't wait the thirty minutes as instructed. Maybe that had something to do with it. i don't know....
  25. So how is everyone doing now that the surgery is over? I had mine Dec 1 and sometimes I have to pinch myself to remind myself that I DID IT! It's over! I'm on the OTHER SIDE now! That feels great. i'm doing everything I'm supposed to do and have dropped 22 pounds (including the pre-diet). i'm thrilled with that number. Every day the scale drops. What a fun way to start the day! My scars are healing and not really sore anymore. I do find that I'm more tired than I used to be. I am 61 years old, but have always had plenty of energy to get things done. I run around all the time doing errands and helping family members who need assistance. I have to pace myself. One problem I'm having is planning for "meals" or Snacks when I'm running around. I can't wait until I can eat a Protein bar...those are so mobile. But it's hard to take 2oz of yogurt or 1/2 c of creamed, strained Soup for lunch in the car! Oh well, these weeks will pass quickly. Tonight I tried pureeing cottage cheese because that is in my phase two "full liquids" weeks (week 2 and 3 for me). I added a little milk so it would puree better and ugh! That was disgusting. I'm not looking forward to the puree weeks (weeks 4 and 5). So how is everyone else doing? I'm doing fine getting the protein and Fluid in. I went to a christmas brunch this morning and there was quite a spread and....i hardly gave it a look. Didn't eat a thing, of course. Merry Christmas!
