Who do you want to be after?

I'm 50 years old and wear pretty, feminine age appropriate clothes. I tend to like to be more conservative and wear longer sleeves and longer skirts. I want to get some cute cowgirl boots to wear with jean skirts. I like other boots too and want to wear really feminine dresses/skirts but that aren't too tight. I've been looking on Pinterest to find cute styles and outfits.

"My Diet is Better than Your Diet" -- random rambling...

I didn't watch the show but used to do WW. I did lose 65 lbs on WW once but when I stopped following the program I gained it back. I'm almost 3 months post of RNY and have lost 70 lbs. I know this has to be a lifetime change. I used to be a fan of Oprah, but not anymore. Over the past several years I've gotten so tired of her. I wouldn't do WW now just because of Oprah. Yes, I do wish Oprah would get surgery, it may be her best bet.

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season

I just wish they would show more follow up and the journey over the year or two after surgery.

    Slower than I expected

I lost 13 lbs in a month. That's slow to me but others say people lose at their own time frame. I guess I just need to exercise more and take it one day at a time.
  5. I ended up going in to the emergency department about 9 pm. Got hooked up to IV Fluid and lots of sips of apple juice watered down. I was able to keep it down at hospital. Also had an xray and was told it looked ok. The other bariatric surgeon in the practice was on call and the ED staff conferred with him. I was able to hold down the liquid and I hope today is a better day. Still having some pain in the same area, hoping it's just trapped gas that I need to walk off.
  6. I'm on day post op and I'm trying to take really little sips of water and eating SF popcicles. Afer I drink I get a pain in where I think my pouch starts. Been vomiting today several times. Is this something typical so soon after surgery or should I call my surgeon office? Can't keep anything down.

    October List of Surgery's

    I'm October 19th.
  8. I'm so excited and starting to be a little scared that my gastric bypass is going to happen. I'm scheduled for surgery on October 19th. I go to my pre op class tomorrow and meet with my surgeon on Friday. Then wait a little over a week and then have surgery. At first it seemed so far away and now it's going to happen. I'm looking forward to starting a new life.

    Cardiologist Today.....

Congrats on not needing a stress test. My dad gets them and hates them.
  10. Men always lose faster than women, it's not fair. It is what it is. Good luck with your surgery.
  11. I'm still pre op and when I went to the informational talk by the health educator and doctor I feel they really pushed the RNY. I had originally wanted sleeve for most of the reasons you do. I don't yet have co morbidities, didn't like the idea of dumping etc. However I do have gastritis and acid reflux and decided for me I think I'll do the RNY because of that. I'm not a gambling woman and didn't want to end up with worse reflux after the sleeve. I think doctors push the RNY because that's what they are used to. Because of your past cancer I would agree that the sleeve may be better for you, but that's a discussion you need with the bariatric surgeon and an oncologist. Good luck to you and whatever tool you decide on will be the better choice for you.
  12. I just got put on the pre op diet to lose weight prior to getting approved for surgery. The NUT has me on 1200 calories a day, 3 servings of starches. Tonight I had 2/3 cup of brown rice as I hasn't eaten any starches all day so I had 2 servings of starches. I thought after bypass we weren't supposed to have starches like rice or potatoes. Why would it be ok to have them now and not later? Also, I had previously given up caffeine and soda. Now I'm having headaches again. Could this be sugar withdrawal?

Looking for friends in or near Fresno

    I'm in Sacramento.
  14. I originally wanted the sleeve so I bought the Big Book on Sleeve and now I decided to go for a Bypass and also bought the other book too. There is a lot of the same information shared in both books, however there are some differences. Glad I bought the books. Very thorough and 400+ pages. If anyone acts like I don't know what I'm doing I'm going to show them that I've read through both books!! That's a lot of information. I would highly recommend these books.

    Kaiser approval!

Congrats! I have Kaiser too and just starting the process. I had heard that it only takes about 3 months now. Were you told form the beginning that it usually takes 6 months?
