  1. I avoid carbs too, they don't sit well with me
  2. Wow I never thought of the microwave thing! That's interesting. I'll have to test that one
  3. You guys are so inspiring! Keep up the good work everyone
  4. Just wondering what the restriction is like further out...can you eat a lot? Or do you still get full off of a few ounces?
  5. Thanks everyone! This was really helpful. I was just curious. I love the restriction!!
  6. I feel like I can eat way too much. I am on soft foods, and yesterday I had some tuna. I weighed it, and ate four ounces and I didn't feel even slightly full! I didn't eat more because I didn't want to overdo it, but I thought I would struggle with four ounces, but not even slightly!! Some people can only eat an ounce or two, so why can I eat so much? I am doomed to fail already

    Why nekked is better.......

You are right about that! I don't like to weigh with clothes on, because clothes can vary. If one day I am wearing jeans and a long sleeve shirt, I'll weigh more than if I I am only wearing a light dress.
  8. I am five weeks post op. When I first had the surgery, I was somewhat worried about not feeling full, because I could drink liquids like it was nothing. Even on pureed foods I was able to eat a decent amount. Now that I am five weeks out, and on solids I can honestly say, I AM FEELING IT. My nerve endings must have finally healed because I can definitely tell a huge difference in three weeks post op, and now and how much I can consume. I tried to eat a meatball yesterday for dinner and I got halfway through when the fullness started. Today at lunch I didn't even make 2 ounces of tuna before I could feel it. This is wonderful! I also broke my three week stall :D
  9. I asked a similar question three weeks out. I was like, where is this magical restriction I am supposed to feel? From day 3 post op, I have had no issue with water. I can drink 8 ounces in 5 minutes with no issues. However, food is a whole different story. Especially solid protein like chicken. I can eat about 3 ounces/ 4 if I push it to full. Trust me, you are fine. I was freaking out too! But the restriction is definitely there once you hit solids.

3 weeks post op and stalled.

I am in the exact same situation, but ive read it's normal and unavoidable. You'll lose more. In the mean time, try staying off the scale for a week. I know it's tempting but no reason to drive yourself crazy over not losing
  11. Thanks! I plan on following the plan and I am absolutely not going to go order a large pizza or anything just to see how much I can eat lol..ill just keep measuring and make it work
  12. The plan from my surgeon states that I am supposed to weigh my meals and eat no more than 4 ounces, which is what I did. I did not eat more than that, I just felt like I could have without restriction. I didn't mix it with mayo. It was just tuna that I mashed up with a fork.
  13. I saw a few YouTube videos and thought it was a fun and helpful idea. If you feel up to it, post a pic showing what and how much you're eating to give everyone an idea of portion size and meal ideas! You can also include how far out you are if you want, and also, check out the YouTube videos! They're informative
  14. I don't weigh myself every week. I like once a month. Seeing a higher number lost makes me feel better. I get discouraged when I weigh every day or every week and don't see anything lost so to avoid the counterproductive weekly weighing, I just keep it to the first of every month.

    Weight gain

I gained 25lbs during my six month pre op. I really just couldn't control myself. The worst part was going to the nutritionist and seeing her disappointed face..lol...I was approved, and no one mentioned the weight gain at all. I am currently two weeks post op, and as of today between the liquid diet pre op and the two weeks after surgery, I have lost the 25lbs I gained. Good luck! I have anthem BCBS of Virginia by the way.
  16. Mine haven't changed yet, you'll probably still like the same foods. At least if you're barbecuing brisket and ribs, you'll be getting lots of protein!
  17. Can you find a different nutritionist to see? My doctor allowed me to choose anyone I wanted. She works as a nutritionist for a gym in my area, and I think she's very helpful.

    Vision Changes Post WLS

Wow that makes so much sense since I had one of those too Mine lasted more than a few days! It was about a week when it improved

    Vision Changes Post WLS

Well I am not sure about long term results, but when I went to sleep for surgery I could see, and when I woke up it was annoyingly blurry. It was weird. It fixed itself after a few days. Couldn't see a thing...
  20. I am 3 days post op. My doctor has me on clear liquids for a week. I don't feel any hunger, but I am curious as to how many clear liquids you can drink without feeling "full". Last night I was able to drink 8 full ounces of water in an hour without an issue and probably could have had more. Is this normal, or is this a sign that the surgery didn't work? I am just so paranoid this was all for nothing. I thought my stomach shouldn't be able to hold more than a few ounces?
  21. I am 25, and it always seemed like food was what my social life revolved around. It was always, "hey, let's grab wings" or "hey, lets go to the buffet". I can still go out to eat. I am only a few days post op, but I'm about three weeks in since I had a two week liquid pre op, and I've been out to eat a few times. Each time, I grabbed a soup, and it was interesting because I was able to focus more on the conversations taking place, rather than constantly worrying about when my food was coming, and looking at the desserts I was craving. It'll be different, but six months into the surgery if I want to go for wings, I'll be able to have two or three and feel satisfied, unlike pre surgery where I felt like I never had enough. Same with any kind of food. I'll still eat, I just won't be eating as much or as poorly. I am excited!
  22. Thanks guys, you made me feel better. I am just paranoid
  23. I had my surgery on Tuesday, so this is my second day post op as well. I am still in the hospital, set to be sent home today. The first day was the worst for me but yesterday during the day wasn't much better. I was so nauseous and sick. I couldn't hold any liquids. I stopped using morphine and haven't thrown up since. That was definitely making it worse. I am still slightly uncomfortable but it's getting better. I slept on my side last night and it worked wonders!! Feeling much better

    excess skin?

I am 25, and 295lbs and I am not really worried about it either. I really don't think the skin will be that bad, because if you think about it, it's not like skin will magically grow- You'll only have as much skin as you have right now. Even if it is bad, I'd rather have this skin at 155lbs than 295lbs
