Hi I'm wondering if anyone can give me advice. I've had two bands fitted over the last 10 years. First one came undone after 3.5 years. I did get to a good weight but suffered with chest pains and reflux acid. When it came undone all the symptoms stopped. After 2 years without the band and gaining a couple of stone I had it repaired. I now have 5.5 ml in a 10 ml band. I'm still 18 pounds over weight but I have stayed the same for over a year. However my acid reflux is really bad. I'm considering having all fluid taking out but the nurse who I have just spoke to says do it slowly it might just be to tight. She gets paid £100 every time so this was an answer I expected. Has anyone else come across this problem? I can't stand to be so uncomfortable especially as the weight loss this time hasnt been very successful. I do know my weight will go up though. Any advice I would be grateful!

Newbie on my Journey ... did you keep your journey a secret

Well good luck. I have decided to have a few Mills taken out of my band. I'm struggling a liitle with the restriction. It hasn't been as easy this time around but I am getting older so it's always a struggle. I think the thing that makes us want to keep it quiet is apart from the negative people around us is the fact what if I don't lose weight? I will be judged? Just don't do as I have done and get over tight on the band. If you are to restricted you won't get any good food in and reach for the crap. Good luck x -

I have had it done twice. First time very successful weight loss but it came undone. I had it done again after gaining weight but not so great this time and suffering terrible with reflux acid. People do say it's easy and a cheats way but not true at all. You can still eat a load of crap like chocolate and biscuits so you do still need willpower. Everyone is different. Good luck -
Seriously thinking of the lap band
searock6tracy replied to buzzly36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi i had my band fitted five years ago and was very happy with it for the first 3 years 10 months but i found out that soothing was wrong and the tube had come out of the port making the band usless. i was heart broken as i had done so well lost 4st 3lb taking me down to about 9st 10. i am now a year later still without my band. i got no help off the nhs and i thought i could control the weight myself. however since then i have put on nearly two stone but i am now considering having port replacement surgery and it will cost 2000 pounds on top of the 6000 the operation cost in the first place. i still don't know what to do as there is no garentee that it wont happen again and it is only covered for 28 days. its not as easy as people think it is just a tool to help you but if you like chocolate or alcohol these things will still make you fat. drink is my biggest problem its full off sugar. however on a plus side once you do see the weight come off and the comments you get are far more rewarding than food. let me know how you get on. regards tracy
