If you haven't had surgery yet what are you most afraid of?
Timeforme15 replied to mimorison's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im going to Mexico for my surgery and only my husband and BFF know, I'm scared something will happen and my children and parents will feel I made a selfish choice. I'm also worried about losing and regaining and being "that person" who thought she could take the easy way as people think only to regain and prove people right. I'm worried about energy levels for the first few weeks post op and being able to do my job two weeks out. -
Doctor Passing Me off to Assistant
Timeforme15 replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in Rants & Raves
I agree its hard to look at is as a business deal. Think of the women that prepay for OB and delivery care only to have the nurse end up delivering......do you get a refund because a nurse delivered and not your OB? nope.....medical care and billing is a whole different world. -
Comments from others that mess with your head
Timeforme15 replied to stacyg1's topic in Rants & Raves
I think this just goes to show...that some people will always assume we took the easy way out so are less than them...and to justify this idea they can throw comments around like that, also to make them feel like their efforts are greater and will last where ours wont. Basically a bully mentality. And Bullies suck! -
Ive been sing CPAP for about 4 yrs, can't sleep without it, makes a world of difference in how rested I feel. It does take getting used to and finding the right mask. I have to use a full face mask because I'm a mouth breather, but once you realize the importance of it and what you are putting your body through everytime you stop breathing....you will make it happen. I personally know a young man 30's that died from sleep apnea....not something to play around with. #nursegettingoffhersoapbox. I do look forward to some day not needing it....surgery in less than 2 weeks eekks!!

Preparing for the Pre-op Diet and Post-op Life change
Timeforme15 replied to Katsitsyahawe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm an RN, not a nutritionist by far! I just started my pre-op diet Mon, and my directions are shake for Breakfast, one for lunch and 6oz of prot at dinner, chicken, fish etc with a salad with nofat-or low fat dressing. the ultimate goal during this time is to eliminate carbs and sugar almost completely to shrink the liver prior to surgery. I have been using Premier Protein shakes, I have some powder and pre-made. I'm using chocolate and its not bad at all. They are 30 grams of protein per shake which is great, it is sweetened with Stevia. So far so good! I think the protein and Vitamins in them help sustain you. Also we were told you can split it up throughout the day...make a large salad and have some at each meal with shakes in between. All you can do is try and see how you tolerate it. -

Presurgery and I can't decide to keep WLS public or private
Timeforme15 replied to soccermama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm dealing with a similar struggle but with an added challenge. I'm an RN working with approx 300 nurses and gossip is rampant needless to say. I'm also with a network marketing company focused on health and wellness but most people are interested in the Weightloss products we sell. I'm very vocal about this company and the products and believe they are a tool to help with weight loss but my focus is on the health aspects that a variety of products bring. But we all know that the world is focused on Weightloss. I don't want to mislead people that my Weightloss is due to the products alone but I also don't want to be talked about....." Yeah see those products didn't work for her"...... Of course I have an online presence as well...it is network marketing. So I feel stuck. My surgery is booked, right now my husband, BFF and two coworkers (who have also had surgery know). Probably won't tel my parents....not sure. TORN!!! -
I am so excited I am scheduled for my sleeve of 9/7/15!!!!

Just scrolled through Forum topics and took a looksy at the one focused on gastric sleeve complications!! I've been reading such awesome great things for so long and reading this knocked me on my rear. How do we know the leak rates of surgeons especially in Mexico and are their specific things that are going wrong procedure wise or in post op care/eating?? Enlighten me please!

Dr. Kim/traveling patients
Timeforme15 replied to jacks89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have pretty severe sleep apnea, but if I have a hernia I'm unaware. I'm looking to go to Mexico but if the price was comparable I would consider Dr. Kim. -

Curious what you all did?
Timeforme15 replied to Nylaj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a co-worker that's an RN also, sleeved on Tuesday, flew home Thurs, back at work Sat, 12 hr night shift on her feet. Tired but doable she said. -
I have pretty sever sleep apnea and sleep with a cpap machine with a setting of 18, for those of you familiar that's a pretty high rate. My question is in regards to post op and using my CPAP, I get A LOT of air in my stomach and then into my bowels from the machine. I'm concerned how this would affect my stomach post-op as far as discomfort and any dangers it could pose. Thank you

You guys might want to research gut health and see if its related, a lot of things are related to Candida overgrowth in the gut, and getting that under control would be better than treating the symptoms. I uses a great Probiotic (all are not the same), if you are interested let me know.

Thank you everyone, I am due for another sleep study but would like to wait awhile after surgery to see the most changes. I may see about adjusting the settings if necessary on my own since it is considered my machine now. I will bring it for surgery and play it by ear and also discuss with my current physician.Thank you for the advice.

How are Hiatal Hernias diagnosed? I'm planning on going the Mexico route because Ins does not cover. I would love to be able to stay in the states and do it for $3000!
