Today I found a new protein source for myself because I'm getting so tired of shakes all the time. It's a protein water called Protein-2-0 and I found it at the grocery store. Tastes much better than shakes and easier to drink.
-
@@sparksrn I like it better than others. I was getting tired of premier protein. Now I can switch them off.

@@sparksrn I found it at the grocery store (Hy-Vee) and it was kinda spendy at $2.89 a bottle. The Amazon price is much better. I'll have to order it from them now I tried it.

@Isheshequin thanks for the share. I think I know most of this just hard to get my mind to accept it. Haha. I think I need to stick with what works a while longer like cheese, beans, and greek yogurt. And wait a bit on the meat. -

I hit 8 weeks this week too. SW 266 CW 225. I struggle with getting enough protein. I find when I push protein at meals that's all I'm eating and I'm not eating balanced meals with fruits and veggies. How do I make this tool work for me? At what point will everything start to even out? -
#scarlet witch 19th Do you mix plain protein powderived with the crystal light? How do you keep it from being lumpy?

It was in the health food section.

I work at a convenient store and lately have really noticed what people are buying and who is buying what. I find myself thinking "Do you really want to buy that?"

I really hate to say this but I only eservice twice a week but I'm pretty active at work 5 days a week. Maybe with all the exercise you are gaining some muscle which weights more. Have you tried measuring to see if u are losing inches? I haven't but all my clothes are getting too big. I did have a bit of a stall about 4-5 weeks out. Just my two cents :-)

RNY 6-10-15. SW 266. Cw 228. Down 38. I too am having trouble with non-pureed meat. Just can't handle more than an ounce or so at a meal. I like my peanut butter on graham crackers. I still struggle with getting enough protein and fluids. Some days are better than others. I'll have a protein shake or sf hot cocoa with protein powder at night if I'm really short for the day.

Has anyone found they needed to change jobs after WLS? I am 2.5 weeks post-op and returned to work Friday. I am asst manager at a convenient store which also has pizza and subs. I feel I'm going to have a hard time staying away from the food once I am back to full diet. The smells the past 2 days has been difficult. I'm thinking if I'm going to be successful in this journey I need less temptation. I love my job and the people I work with. But this journey is more important.

My doctor didn't require any weight loss, just no weight gain during 6 month pre-op appointments.

Good to hear. Glad you're over that hurdle.

@@Dreamweaver103 Isn't it great to be able to give up so many medications? I also was able to quit blood pressure med and cut cholesterol med in half. -
Diabetics and bypass patients

One of my pre-op requirements included meeting with an endocrinologist (something I had never done but wish I had). She helped alot with adjusting medications. I also have been working with a diabetes educator for many years. Also my blood sugars dropped a lot the day after surgery. So much that I had to turn down my pump dose. My surgeon said they know blood sugars change dramatically after surgery but there are no studies yet to explain why. -

My A1C was 8.4 before bypass on June 10th. I had been on insulin pump for 10 years. One week after surgery I met with diabetes team. I was taken off pump and went on Levemir at bedtime and started Metformin liquid. Hoping to reduce Levemir and increace Metformin as tolerated. My hope is as I get closer to my goal to be able to discontinue all diabetic meds and control blood sugars with diet and exercise. -
Without protein shakes I can't get enough protein.

Revision in ten days. . Very nervous
Tomojac replied to tweedle's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I have an Android phone. I use BariatricTimer. It helps to time no drinking 30 min before and after meals and I also time eating every three hours. I track my food (calories, carbs, and protein), liquids not just Water, and exercise with SparkPeople. It works for me. -

I too struggle with adhd. I'm 5 weeks post-op with bypass. Don't stress so much about missing pills. I got a 4 compartment a day pill case and I try for 4 meals a day. This way I can spread them out during the day and I forget one at least every 2 or 3 days. We're not perfect but getting apps on my phone is a life saver. -
Today was a total food fail! I'm almost 5 weeks post rny and graduated to soft foods last Friday. It's been going good with no problems until today. I went shopping with a friend about 2 hours from home. I tried an omelet for Breakfast at a cafe. After about 3 bites of egg with cheese, spinach, and tomato and toast with Peanut Butter it all came back up. Then for supper we went to Olive Garden. I had grilled salmon and garlic mashed potatoes. Again after a few bites it all came back up. I did have applesauce in between with no problem and yogurt on the way home. First time anything has made me sick. I've had eggs and mashed potatoes without problems so not really sure what caused it unless it was how it was cooked. Not a very good day.

Teacherista: are you still measuring your food? If I don't measure in the little measuring cups I find I try to eat too much. I'm good if I premeasure.

Not really any problems at home. But mostly eating the same food as pureed just not pureed. Lol
