December 14th Sleevers
rgilio88 replied to Terra B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeves the 14th..started puréed yesterday. Tried the scrambled eggs because I was soooo excited for regular food but didn't feel so great afterwards. Today had some avocado puréed and mashed sweet potato and that went good. I do agree it is SUPER hard resisting all these sweets this time of year but I'm staying strong..so far. Also just wondering about how many calories a day ppl are taking in ? I was at maybe 300 all last week now I'm on puréed and it's been 500-600. I know I'm way short on protein only about 25gm at best but I'm hoping now with the purée it'll be easier to get more protein in. Just curious as to other people's intake at this point post op. -
So Monday 1030 I go for surgery. I'm super nervous..somewhat about the procedure because I've never had surgery but mostly I'm worried about still not being able to lose weight or stick to the diet! I've done 1 week liquid protein and cheated twice..and in my 6 month work up preparing for surgery have only lost 12 pounds. I don't want to have this done for nothing or always feel like I'm on a diet post op..I feel like I should be having brain surgery to get my head right instead of sleeve surgery but I keep telling myself one day at a time and slip ups are inevitable and as long as I don't fall into old habits and follow the guidelines (protein, don't drink with meals, etc.) it'll be ok. All we can do is our best!

12/14 sleeve surgery-pending surgical auth
rgilio88 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been up and down with my weight for my whole life and before when the only options were bypass or lap band I wasn't ready for either, however this seems like the perfect option for me. So I've followed with a weight loss md and my surgeon for 6months, completed all the lab work, done my pulm and cardiac consults, passed the psych eval, visited multiple times with the dietician. All I'm waiting for is my surgical authorization which I've met all the listed requirements for. However, my insurance denied me stating I need a bmi of >50, even though the criteria the insurance company previously told me was >40. My bmi is 42. Now my surgeon is having a peer to peer consult with the insurance but I'm concerned I won't be able to proceed and I'm scheduled for 12/14..anyone else have any similar issue? -
That's my biggest fear..in scheduled 12/14. I have to do 1 wk liquid protein preop which I'm nervous about only liquids for a week but my biggest fear/ anxiety is that I won't lose weight! Or that I'll lose it and not sustain and gain weight back and this will all be for nothing..but one day at a time right. Good luck!

Any 12hr shift nurses out there?
rgilio88 replied to susan1349's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a 12 HR day nurse..I was told 2-3 weeks off. I won't have surgery until 12/14 so I'm not sure how I'll manage after coming back. I'm really concerned about doing the liquid protein diet for the week prior to sx while still doing my 3 12's that week..planning on frequent small meals after and just always having a protein shake ready for the week pre-op
