    Surgery in Mexico

I'll be going in about two weeks. July 31st is my surgery. Dr. Jesus Lopez will be my surgeon and I was set up through BariatricPal and couldn't be more excited.
  3. July 31st for me with Dr.Jesus Lopez and I'm going alone. Anyone else scheduled this month?
  4. I'm excited! From what I've read you guys provide excellent service
  5. I don't know if it's just me being nervous, but I've been working with bariatricpals through email to get my surgery scheduled. I know they are probably busy, but I feel the slow response is making me nervous. I know I have nothing to worry about I'm sure. Anyone else experience slow communication when trying to get things set up?

    Is this too optimistic?

I have a less than one mile commute to work. And a nice break room if I need to lay down. I'll take it each day as it comes and do what my body tells me.
  8. I'll be having surgery on a Friday and returning home on Monday. Is it too enthusiastic/optimistic to think I can return to work on Tuesday? I have a desk job, I'm not tied down to it, I can get up and walk around as I need. I will be using most of my PTO for a family gathering earlier in the month so I'm trying to miss as little work as possible. As far as my employer is concerned they know I'm having "a surgery" but not what is being done as I feel that it's personal and doesn't need to be discussed.

Thank you all for your insight, I think at this point I'm going to play it by ear. If I feel I can't handle work after surgery I'll just let me boss know that I need a few extra days to recover.
  10. You go girl! You got this. Looking forward to seeing your journey
  11. After numerous failed diets, I was just shot down. I saw a picture of myself at a cousins wedding and just broke down in tears and decided that I needed to change my life. Diabetes runs in the family and I do not want to die young. I want to be able to walk up the stairs without getting out of breath. I want to be able to go out in public and not be ashamed of what I look like. It's not all vanity, I need to be healthy and this is how I'm going to change my life.
  12. Thank you for posting this. I too am lactose intolerant and have been looking around for suggestions on post-surgery diet. I'm a bad lactose intolerant as I still love cheese and ice cream, but I probably wont be able to handle much after the surgery.
  13. I just sent in my deposit for July 31st surgery. This is really happening!

    Hi All!

Hello! I'm Rocket and I'm here for the support and resources. I've been overweight almost my entire life, I have done everything I can think of to lose weight, all those fad diets, pills, drinks, shakes, etc. Nothing has really worked for my in the long run. I am an over-eater and addicted to food. I've considered weight loss surgery for several years now. I've done a ton of research about what type of surgery will be best for me. Unfortunately my insurance does not cover the costs of bariatric surgery so I have been "forced" to result to paying on my own. I know several people who have taken the Mexico route and I feel this is the option for me. I've saved up the required amount of money plus additional to help me in the first few months. I do not have a doctor selected yet or a surgery date, as I'm still looking around. I have sent my information off to a few places and right now just trying to find the right fit. I hope to have the surgery in the next month or two. I look forward to getting to know you all and share my life changing experiences on this journey.
