Was sleeved July 11. I've been doing walking/jogging and swimming as daily exercise. I really want to add some strength training but one of my incisions still hurts a lot so I'm nervous about pushing it. Do you think I should wait til the pain is complete gone or try work though the pain?

Exciting times ahead for you!! Congrats and good luck on your journey!

Nervous Scared and Happy Scared
Remix replied to kaysunshine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a personal decision and yes, a scary one. It's natural to question if it's right to do so don't let that deter you. I only told 2 people of my surgery because I knew others would try to talk me out of it. I was scared a heck!! I flew to Mexico alone to get the surgery! Now that was frightening!! However I felt that my weight was robbing me of my happiness and not having the surgery was a scarier option. I'm 5 weeks post op and I know that it was the best thing I've done for myself. I feel free from the shackles of obesity!! I am happy! I feel good about myself. I am proud of myself! If you arent sure about surgery, talk to your doctor and do your research. Decide for yourself if it is right for you. If you honestly know that this is the right thing for you, don't let others opinions or your own fears stop you. -
Hey sleevers! Have any of you gone to Mexico to have your surgery done?

Happiest Moment
Remix replied to jhclikesshopping@gmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was july 11 (just over 5 weeks ago). My bmi has gone from 30 to 24.9, in other words I've gone from obese to overweight to normal!! Eeek, normal!! It's incredible to feel so much better about my appearance and so proud of my hard work on this journey!! I love having the energy and the ability to workout! While I exercise or even just go about my day, I'm sometimes struck with awe with what my body can do now and the lack of aches and pains and fatigue!! It seems to want to be pushed harder and harder! In a word, I feel FREE!! -
159!!! So so happy!! ☺???????????? In the 5 weeks since surgery, I've got from a bmi of 30 to 24.9...so I've gone from being obese to overweight and now today, "normal"!!! So excited!!

1 month since surgery in mexico!!! Down 25 lbs (since pre op diet started) and I feel amazing!!! Bmi from 30 to 25.3!! I've lost a total of 11 inches from my thighs (2"), hips (5"!!!), waist (2"), and arms (2")!!! gone from size 16 pants to size 12!! Yippee!! Most importantly, I feel truly happy now. I'm free from that torture I put myself through, thinking about my weight 24/7. I'm our from under that dark cloud! FREEDOM!! And it feels amazing! (Grey shirt is me today, black was me the day before surgery) -

July 13th or closer Check In!
Remix replied to harley_quinn25's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery was July 11. I've gone from a bmi of 30 to 25.5 and lost 28 lbs!! I've felt great from day 1 and am so so happy with my results. My pre Op jeans are falling off me so I was thrilled to donate my size 16s and rummage through old boxes to find my size 12s! I'm still in the pureed stage until aug11 and rely heavily on Protein drinks. I can't seem to get enough protein into my new tummy otherwise. The best part of this is bring free of the constant torture I was putting myself through with thinking about my weight. My self esteem was at an all time low and my thoughts about the weight were unrelenting. Finding my way out of that dark place has me so happy and grateful that I've been able to do this!!! -
164! I'm so happy. People are actually starting to notice and comment on my weight loss!! Gotta love it!

Travel Home from Mexico
Remix replied to BigHarleyGuy1's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
A real concern for me (flew from Mexico to Edmonton, Canada) was blood clots (DVT). I have previously had one and do not want to experience this ever, ever again. After surgery, we are at higher risk for DVTs. The same is true for flying. Please be sure to look into wearing compression socks (up to the knee. Pharmacists can often help fit you for them). During the flight and layovers, get up and get walking often! Try to keep well hydrated as well. In the end, the surgeon put me on blood thinners to be safe but that isn't necessary if you don't have history of DVT and if you do all of the above. Besides worry about that, the trip home was terrific! I had a 3hr 40 minute flight from Mexico to San Fran and then 3 hrs to Edmonton, THEN a 3 hour drive from Edmonton to home (no direct flights, c'est la vie!). Long day but thankfully all was well. There are Protein drinks and Water at the airports. Costly, but worth it. I also packed powdered electrolytes to add to my water to help me feel more peppy. Good luck. It's totally doable and not as bad as you might expect. The worse part for me, by far, was the worry. The physical part was a breeze!! Take care! Good luck on your surgery and I hope your recovery goes wonderfully!! I can't imagine a better place to be post op than Mexico!! It was heaven and can't wait to go back for vacation (bikini this time, lol)!! -
171 this morning! Thanks for doing this, Steph. Looks like a ton of work. Totally appreciate it!

I'm happy to report that I'm feeling awesome, day 9! Yesterday I was even able to go for 2 walks, getting in almost 12000 steps. I'm getting close and closer to my protein goal every day & have hit my water goal for the last 3 days straight! I feel great & am so happy n fortunate to have had this surgery!! Yay you for being so strong during the get together! I haven't had to experience that yet but know it will be tough. Congrats on getting through it unscathed! -
Good luck everyone! You've got this!!
