Remix replied to BeccaLayne1959's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was sleeved in Mexico in July. I've lost 35 lbs and my bmi has gone from obese to overweight to normal with that weight loss. I'm beyond excited!! I am at a 2 week long stall so that is frustrating tho. -
How Do You Get Yourself Out the Door to Exercise?
Remix replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I put a calender on my fridge to write down my workouts. When I don't exercise, that day stays bare and I hate staring at those empty days for the entire month so I am hyper motivated to fill in as much as possible each and every day! -

Star medica vs puerto vallarta 6600 vs 4500? Help!
Remix replied to Munecagirl85's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I went to Dr. Hidalgo in PV exactly 2 months ago today. Great surgeon, great experience. I love PV so it was a treat to spend a few days recovering on the beach there!! When I left the hospital 2 days later, I felt like I hadn't had surgery at all. Recovery was a breeze! I had a friend who had great results with Dr. Hidalgo 6 months earlier so I was confident in my decision. There were no complications for me and the price was tough to beat! In the end, it comes down to what ever you feel most comfortable with. Do your research, talk to the different surgeons and go with what your gut tells you. Good luck in your journey!! -
155 lbs. I gained?!! And I'm freaking out cuz I don't know what I did wrong! The gain happened shortly after last weigh in. I was sure it was water retention but it's been stuck at 155 for like 5 days. Not sure what I've done wrong. Trying not to become discouraged. But looking at the big picture, I am thrilled overall. I had my surgery about the same time the challenge started and I'm down 30 lbs!! My BMI is now in the normal range and I feel amazing!! If I stay focused on that, I cant wipe the smile off my face ☺

July 10 2015 sleeves...
Remix replied to Smallbites2015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there! July 11 here. I was doing well and then yesterday woke up to a 4 lbs gain?!! It's not even my time of the month. Must be water retention or something cuz I've been working hard at eating correctly and exercising. It seems like 1 day I get all my water in, then the next day I dont so I need to work on that. I'm down from size 16 pants to size 10 or 12! I'm a teacher so just finished my summer off. The looks on people's faces and compliments when they saw me was the best!! This includes students and other staff so I'm just basking in the attention, and why not? I worked hard for this!! -
Rate Of Weight Loss, Those Starting Under 200 Lb?
Remix replied to NothingUpMySleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started pre op at 185 lbs (I'm 5'7"). Surgery was July 11 and I was 180 lbs. It's been almost 7 weeks and I weigh 151 lbs today. I've been happy with my results thus far. I've been exercising daily for the past 3 or 4 weeks. I think the results on the scale don't compare with the results I've had in health and in losing inches. I feel so much better and am able to exercise and really push my body to it's limits. I do get down sometimes when I see others who had surgery the same time as me talk about the 40 or 50 lbs they've lost but then I think about the fact my bmi has gone from obese to overweight to normal in less than 7 weeks! Pretty great! Still have a ways to go to get to my goal weight but it's an exciting journey we are on! We'll get there!! -
Try some electrolytes. That helped me when I was feeling weak or dizzy. I preferred the powder I could add to water rather than G2 but I think either works. Hope you feel better soon!!

Anyone else 6 weeks post op?
Remix replied to nn1985's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6.5 weeks post Op. Down 35 lbs and so many inches that I'm thrilled. I am swimming laps and jogging for an hour a day. Loving exercise because I'm amazed and thrilled at how much my body can do now!! Breakfast every day is a protein shake. Without that, I don't get enough protein into my day. I still struggle to get all my water in but I'm working on it. -
NEED A TRAVEL BUDDY FOR MY GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY????
Remix replied to Patricia A Garrick's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico alone this summer to get my surgery. I am from canada so it was a longer trip. My bf and sister both offered to come with me but I figured I'd rather go to mexico with them on holiday rather than for surgery. That way we can enjoy it together. I am hoping to return there after Christmas. When my bf left me at airport security, I was scared. I almost turned back. It seemed like a crazy idea to be flying to mexico to get my stomach cut out. But that was literally the only time I was scared. After that, it was all excitement!! I couldn't believe I was so lucky as to have this new gift and was hopeful and excited for the future. So happy! If you can't find a travel buddy, please try not to worry. You can do this!! -
Considering... has anyone been in my boat!?
Remix replied to lakiaki's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know exactly how you feel! I was at 30 BMI (so just into the obese category) and completely miserable. Self esteem was nothing and I was constantly thinking about the weight. It was torture!! I was trying to lose the weight but had no success. I went to Mexico and had surgery on July 11 and it was the best decision I've made in a long time. I've got from obese to overweight to normal weight in the 6 weeks since. My BMI has gone from 30 to 23.6 and i feel amazing. It's not easy, but life is so much better than it was 2 months ago. Some say I wasn't "that big" or think I should have just lost the weight on my own (again, I was certainly trying) and I certainly wouldn't have been a candidate for free surgery under our canadian health care system (or your American insurance). However, the impact of my weight was both physically and emotionally impacting me in a very negative way so that can't be tossed aside. I was suffering and being free from that us honestly the best gift I've given myself!! -

GNC has a natural (unflavoured) protein powder that I love called Pro Performance whey iso burst. It has 40 g of protein in 2 scoops. I usually add PB2 to it (adds flavour and more protein) and mix with water. I don't do protein bars because of the carbs. $3000 is a sweet deal! Congrats on giving yourself this incredible gift!my preop diet was liquids only for 5 days because my bmi was 30. I did it for 7 days just to be safe tho. It was tough but so worth it! I'd advise that you buy compression socks for the flight home as blood clots are a risk for flying so soon after surgery. Also get up and walk on the plane. I had a blood clot years ago so am overly paranoid about them but better safe than sorry! I flew to mexico and had my surgery july 11 and have gone from obese to overweight to normal in the time since! Good luck with your surgery! I'm so excited for you!!

When someone calls you "the incredible shrinking woman" -
Non-scale Victory. It's the special and wonderful weightloss related victories that have nothing to do with numbers on a scale. Example: fitting into your old jeans, running your first 5K, or noticing that someone is checking you out. haha

You all sound like I did a few months ago. I want to cry remembering how awful I felt, how draining the self torture was. I was constantly thinking about the weight and hating myself for letting myself get so big. 24/7 I was thinking about how others saw me and how unattractive I was. I had surgery July 11 and have done amazing. I wish I could hug that me from before surgery and all of you. It will get better, I promise. Do the work and you will be free from the shackles you are feeling. You'll be proud of yourself for doing it and you will feel happy & free. Until then, try to be kind to yourself. You are already beautiful and amazing.

I like GNC Pro Performace whey protein natural flavour. It has no flavour and 40 grams of protein in just 2 scoops!! I add pb2 powder for extra protein and to give it a nice taste. Sometimes I add Greek yogurt and fruit for a smoothie but only occasionally because of the carbs.

Endoscopy????????????????
Remix replied to sbagby1960's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I chose to do mine without sedation because it is such a quick procedure. I am claustrophobic so can't stand anything blocking my breathing so it was a nightmare. It was about 5 minute of torture but better than losing half a day being drugged up. Hey, I've been through child birth twice so I'm no stranger to torture lol. If I had to do it again, I'd still probably go the drug free way. Like I said, it's only 5 minutes. And if you aren't claustrophobic, it won't come close to torture.
