    Hello, any veterens around?

    Resleeve
  2. I brought protein powder and a shaker in my carry on bag and bought cold water in airport and then the hotel later that evening and had shakes. It really helped me with energy. I was traveling for work two weeks after surgery.

    Clothes Shopping

Just make sure you buy only what will get you by during this phase. I spent a good bit of money on clothes that fit me for less than a month. Marshalls was great for me
  4. Sleeved 7/27. Down 60lbs but started with a lower BMI. I'm very happy with my progress and loving life!

    Clothes

Give them away but keep a pair of pants and a shirt. About once a month I try them on OVER my current clothes and I don't have to unbutton anything anymore. It's the most awesome feeling and it will make you feel great on the worst day.

    Low bmi

I was a 33 BMI (I am now a 26 and just barely in the overweight category). I have lost 54lbs in 5.5 months. No regrets at all except I wish this was available 20 years ago.
  7. Never had any issues, but I did put mine in snack size ziplock bags so they could be seen easily. I take about 3 servings on every flight (because I get delayed a lot and want to be over prepared). I tended to pack readymade shakes in my bag, as mentioned above, because I could stick them in a small cooler or hotel fridge. Sometimes the hotel fridges didn't get them cold enough for me. Luckily, every hotel has an ice machine I buy Premier Protein shakes from costco. Another member of this board told me that Walgreens sells them in many areas. Now I don't have to pack them, I just find a Walgreens and pick them up. If I can't find a Walgreens, then I find the nearest drug or grocery store and get a good alternative. I travel almost every week and I am in the same hotel 2-4 nights. Please get a small lunchbox sized cooler you can put several bottles of Water, G2 etc. in. It has been a life saver for me.
  8. I traveled two weeks after my surgery and was gone for 5 days. I took my large suitcase and packed prepackaged liquid protein shakes and a small soft sided cooler. When I got to my hotel I filled the cooler with shakes and ice so I always had something on hand. The toughest parts were the flights because I was flying cross country and was still on liquids. You will be fine, but buy some G2 or Poweraide zero at the airport to sip on the plane. When I had to eat out with customers I got soups. You may be on soft foods by then so order carefully and make sure you get your protein in.

    Weird dreams - please share

A friend of mine who is a therapist told me, when I mentioned dreaming about food, that they are "user" dreams. He said many times alcohol or drug abusers dream about using when they are trying not to, people who have food addictions dream about eating. My dreams were very vivid but stopped after about a month.
  10. Hi, I am wondering if anyone used Vitamin Patches since getting sleeved? I have been researching this as a way of getting my Vitamins in without having to pack and sort pills for my business trips. It seems that PatchMD has some that exceed ASMBS guidelines. I would appreciate any feedback anyone has on these or other vitamin patches. Thank you!
  11. Hi. Surgery date was 7/27. Just started soft foods. everything I eat hurts...only able to get about 2 oz in at a time before I feel the "backup" and pain. I have tried fish, chicken, egg salad, chicken salad, turkey chili and it all hurts. Is this normal? any suggestions? I am able to do my liquids and Protein shakes no problem. I chew everything well, but think I may need to go back to purees. Had no issues with those. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  12. Thanks. Seems like I'm eating too fast. Hard to break that habit. Ugh

    Seafood!

I have been doing well with fish, but had some shrimp today (cocktail style, without the cocktail sauce) and my sleeve did not like it at all. It took about an hour and a half for it to stop hurting. everyone is different, so you may be just fine.
  14. I was sleeved on7/27. I've lost 18 lbs and I did stall for about 10 days. Yesterday the stall was broken and I dropped 1.5 lbs overnight. I am happy with my progress and know that slow and steady wins the race. Even while I was stalled I went down a size so I know my sleeve is working. Need to go shopping for new pants soon!

    Donate or Save Clothes

I like the idea of keeping one item to remind me where I started. I would love to donate to other women on this board who are a size or two behind me on this journey. I have some really nice work attire. 18/16w and some 2x shirts. Wonder if we can start a "donate" thread?
  16. Mine came today too! Happy to share notes.

    Sugarfree Gum?

I had sugar free gum three days after surgery because I kept getting a bad taste in my mouth. I chewed it for about 3 min and then threw it away. I was very careful not to swallow it. I didn't have any issues.
  18. Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to give them a try

    2 weeks post op today

I will take that advice. A lot of posters have stated that helped them, and since I will need to be walking through airports, I might as well get ready for it

How is your energy level? I have to be back on the road with my job two weeks after surgery and I am wondering what my energy level will be like.

    The day's the scale move!

Thanks for your response!! I am hoping that my recovery is as good as yours. Fifteen days out I have to start traveling for business and I'm hoping I will be up for it. Any tips on protein shakes and vitamins that helped you would be appreciated. I'm excited to see your success and hope I will be posting the same results soon

    The day's the scale move!

Congratulations! My surgery is two weeks from today. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I would love to hear how your first few weeks after surgery went as far as energy level, being able to get your Water in, etc. My SW and your will be the same as I have to get to that number before the surgery.
  24. HI, I am planning on getting the sleeve in September, when I can schedule a few weeks off, and was wondering if anyone here who's had the sleeve travels for a living like I do. How long after you had the sleeve could you travel for work? How did you handle your eating restrictions? I would really appreciate any guidance you have. Thanks!
  25. Thank you everyone. This info helps me feel good about my timeline and hopefully I will be joining you guys very soon!
