    North Carolina

I had my surgery at Chesapeake Regional. They were fantastic. I did well up walking the same day of surgery. I had surgery early on a Wednesday and went home Friday morning. I had gained ten pounds in the hospital from fluids, but they quickly came off. Two weeks out I lost 27 lbs now I'm in the dreaded three week stall. I'm having some issues with drinking water. My pouch feels like it kinda seizes and revolts against water. So I'm using broth to try and reach fluid goals.

    Fresh Onto The Scene

Welcome. Good wishes and blessings on your journey.
  6. My surgeons head RN came to visit me in the hospital and told me to do it that way. Of course you can't eat a whole cup but a little to get the meds down. I would give your DR a call and see if you can do it that way. Good luck and it will get better.

    I'm home from surgery....

I went through the same thing before leaving the hospital. I could not urinate. My Dr gave me like 3 extra bags of fluid to get things moving. It worked but I gained 10 pounds. I'm 12 days out and I've lost 24 pounds.
  8. I put all my crushed medication in a spoon of unsweetened applesauce. Any other way and I get dry heaves.
  9. Hi, my name is Amber. I had my gastric bypass on 6/10/2015. My starting weight was 266. The day I came home from the hospital I was up to 277. Thanks to the extra fluids I had to get to be able to urinate. I am now twelve days out and weigh 253. I have been doing pretty well with my fluids and protein. This is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. I have to admit years ago I was one of those people who said it was the easy way out. Boy was I wrong. I know with each day that goes by this was the best decision I have ever made. Good luck to us all..... We deserve it.

    Extra lethargic post-op day 5?

I am 12 days out from gastric bypass. Day 5 was an awful day for me also. I slept almost the entire day. There are still days that I am exhausted and take naps. I'm feeling pretty good as far as incisions go except the top one still hurts. Remember to get those fluids in. Broths saved the day for me. The warm just seemed to go down much better than water. Good luck everyone????
  11. My surgeon just recommended UPCAL D. It's a tasteless, odorless powder and very reasonable price. Check Amazon I get 120 packets for around $15. It can be sprinkled on food or added to drinks.
