  1. I make specialty cakes on the side. I have done many since surgery 11 months ago. I am fortunate in that the more I make it the less I want it. I have taken a taste since surgery and it just makes my stomach hurt now.

    Acid Reflux

I had pretty bad reflux at first but the meds helped give relief. Now I am 11 months out and I am slowly getting off the meds and have no reflux issues.

    Pre Surgery Freak Outs

As many others will say, this was the best decision of my life. It is normal to be scared leading up to the surgery. I was still thinking the oh my gosh what am I doing thoughts as they put my on the operating table. But now 11 months later I am so grateful for the new lease on life I have been given and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

    What's on your plate?

11 months out today. Breakfast: one egg, small turkey sausage link, sprinkle of 2% cheese. Morning snack: light baby bell cheese, cup air popped popcorn. Lunch: 2.5 ounces Protein, normally chicken. Tablespoon shredded Parmesan, sugar free Jello. Afternoon snack: 80 calorie Greek yogurt. Dinner: 3 ounces protein (chicken or fish normally, sometimes steak), zucchini pancake, sometimes small piece of bread. That's my typical eating every day. I have to do the Snacks or else I'd never get enough protein or calories each day. I stay really low carb. I exercise most days but nothing drastic usually walking or a light weights routine that I do at home. I have lost 151.6 so far since surgery.
  5. Best of luck to you. I was sleeved 11 months ago and have lost 149 pounds so far. If you stick to the program and exercise as you are able too you can lose just as well with the sleeve. My surgeon keeps telling me I have lost at the same rate as his bypass patients.
  6. I was taking the meds in a small bite of applesauce the day of surgery in the hospital. Just be sure to use the unsweetened kind.

    My own personal nightmare

My goodness, I hope you have a quick recovery and this is the start of a turn around for your health. Kroger has their store brand sugar free popsicles that are really good and made with Splenda. Best of luck to you.

    Taking Communion

The wafers are typically so small and practically dissolve and it's just a sip of juice. I have never worried about it or had any issues from it.

    What's your favorite water bottle?

I got an ozark trail cup, it looks just like a yeti cup but it was only ten bucks at Walmart and it holds my ice for up to 20+ hours. It is 32 ounces and so I make it my daily goal to drink one by lunch one by the time I leave work and one in the evening.
  10. I have been fine taking both of mine at once. I do the flintstones complete chewable ones.
  11. Space out the two calcium so that your body can absorb it more. Also make sure to keep two hours between the calcium and the vitamin with iron. For me I take my two multi vitamins with iron by 8am, then a b complex a bit later, then about 10:30 I take one calcium. Then at 1:30 I take the second calcium and a biotin. I am almost 11 months out and have had perfect labs at all my post op visits.

    1500 calories?

Just my opinion but that seems high on calories for that early out. I am almost 11 months out and still do good to hit 900 calories in a day. 28 pounds in the first month is great. That's about what I had lost in the first month as well. Since your getting your protein in you may want to check what your doing carb wise and make sure your getting in your water. For me I stay below 40 carbs a day typically.
  13. Everyone is different but I had a pretty easy recovery. I was not sick even once, (I am almost 11 months out and have never thrown up) I had some pain but that's normal when your cut open. I was back at work two weeks after surgery and have done great.

    Sleeping with acid

They may need to change you to a different ppi. I was on a 20 mg does of one kind and was still having issues so they changed me to a 40 mg dose of a different kind and that resolved it with the first dose. I have now a few months later been able to go back down to the lower dose one without issue and hope to be off it all together by the end of the year.
  15. I will be 11 months out on the 28th. My stats are as follows: Highest weight in 2011 - 376 Surgery weight 9/28/15 - 319 Weight today 8/5/16 - 176 143 pounds lost I hope everyone is doing well!

    Pulse in my stomach

Yep, I asked the dr about it and she said it's the big artery and it's more noticeable now that it's not under such a layer of fat. She said its normal and nothing to worry about.

    "She's blushing!"

When people start to notice the weight change say your eating a whole lot less and moving a whole lot more. It will be the truth. I have zero poker face and don't believe in lying anyway and that is what I tell people because it is the truth.

    Look what I found!

I love the sistema products! Their little bowls are perfect size for stuff I take to work for lunch. Where did you find that?

    Stitches

One of mine did that. My surgeon had me just keep a little bandaid over it till the internal part dissolved then the part that stuck out fell off.

    Protein and stuff

Isopure is a protein drink but many people can't tolerate it after surgery. Many say it's too sweet. Be cautious and don't over buy because what you may like now can very well change after surgery. Many people get the premiere protein shakes from Costco or SAMs because it is cheaper there. I tend to order my calcium from Amazon because I can get the big bag of 90 for around $35 and it will last a month and a half. After the first few months I haven't had a need to supplement with any protein shakes as I am getting enough from the food I eat. I use the flintstones complete chewable vitamins (2/day) along with the calcium and a b complex from the drug store and my labs are perfect.
  21. I am right at ten months out. My joint pain has been relieved and the horrible IBSD that I dealt with daily is all but gone, I have more energy then I've had in years and feel like I can live again and not just sit on the couch watching life pass me by. I have lost 139 pounds at the moment. About 40 more to go.

    Why is onederland so evasive?!

I felt like it took forever to get below the 200 mark but then it did and now has jumped on down into the 180s really fast. You will all get there! [emoji4][emoji106]????

    Telling People about WLS

Just be direct and tell him it's a private matter and let that be that. You may want to check with HR about FMLA just to be safe and sure that your job is safe while you recover if you haven't already.
