I make what I call dirty chicken and it's quite moist and good. I take boneless skinless chicken thighs and in a skillet put a bit of olive oil. I put in the chicken and add some low sodium Worcestershire sauce and salt free garlic seasoning and cook on low heat till done through. It is moist and very flavorful.

Surgeon says I should only focus on losing 50-70% of excess weight -Boo!
reree6898 replied to Omieliz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
At my one year check up a few weeks ago I had lost 71% of my excess weight. I'm not planning on stopping till I hit my goal of getting to 140-145 pound range. I had the sleeve so my doctor already counts me as a success. -
Question for the Sleeve Veteran's - GERD?
reree6898 replied to NJ Mom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It was scary a time or two when I woke up choking on acid in the middle of the night. The dr has changed the meds though and I have no problems with it causing me any issues now. I never eat at night and I always measure my food so it can happen even when trying to be careful with everything. I am hoping that I will be able to wean off the meds over the next few months. Even with dealing wth that this surgery has been the best decision I have ever made for myself. -
Question for the Sleeve Veteran's - GERD?
reree6898 replied to NJ Mom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't know the stats on it but for me I never had any reflux pre op but since surgery I have had it pretty bad and have to take daily meds to keep it under control. -
Can you get FMLA? That would protect your job for the appointments and time off.

The freezing thing is totally normal. Many of us go though that. I joke and say I lost all my insulation. I personally don't eat the frozen meals due to the carbs and sodium levels in them. I prefer to eat fresh foods that I cook myself. Many people cook ahead for a week at a time to make it easier and save time.

Is it possible to be fatter now than preop?
reree6898 replied to G8rgrl72's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
This is totally normal. You are puffed up from all the IV fluids and gas they put in you while at the hospital. It can take several days for all to leave your system. Your also likely swelled from having major surgery. Try to walk when you can and get your water in and you will start seeing it go down soon. -
Who has made it to normal BMI?
reree6898 replied to gpmed's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had sleeve just over a year ago and at my one year my surgeon said they don't really go by BMI that they prefer to go by percentage of body fat. For me the top range of normal was 33% and I was right at that mark. I am still planning on losing about 25 more pounds so that I hit my personal goal weight and have about a safe 5 pound bounce range. -
I had my sleeve done at 36 years old, I can only wish I had the opportunity to do it when I was younger because I too wasted many years being severely overweight. If you are able to make the commitment to changing your lifestyle to accommodate the surgery then I would say go for it.

I eat between 8&900 a day and I am at a year out.

What did your first week on purees look like?
reree6898 replied to gemigirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The exact recipe is on the world according to egg face blog but you basically mix ricotta with Italian seasonings of your liking, egg, a bit of Parmesan and mozzarella and top it with some marina then you bake it till its gooey and bubbly. It is very good. -
What did your first week on purees look like?
reree6898 replied to gemigirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did low fat cottage cheese, ricotta bake, mashed potatoes with unflavored protein powder, things like that about an ounce at a time or less depending on how I felt. I would try to eat three times a day but wasn't always able to do so. -

TLC will run the follow up episodes periodically through the year. I got to meet Zayln (that was mentioned in the original post) back in April and she was so sweet. She did move on and has a good boyfriend now that cares about her and her daughter. -
Short hair or Long Hair?
reree6898 replied to finding_onederland's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a year out, I have not shed any more then I did before surgery. I have kept mine short the last several months though. Many people have said that when shedding happens they find it easier to deal with short hair. -
Puree, blender and baby food
reree6898 replied to Butterflywarrior's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never used a blender at all. For that stage I ate soft cheese (cottage cheese, ricotta etc) Greek yogurt, mashed potatoes with unflavored protein powder, unsweetened Apple sauce with the unflavored protein powder, things like that. I found no need to eat baby food personally. -
UPDATE: We've updated the BariatricPal iOS and Android Apps!

Oh ok, thanks! -
Is it like the regular one (gold bond ) or a firming one ? When did you started to use it ? How many weeks after the op ? Any recommendations for arms and belly skin ? It's specifically for neck and chest. It's in a small tube and its with like the face care products in the drug store. I haven't found anything I have seen any real progress with for arms or belly unfortunately.

I have yet to find something great for body but the gold bond neck and chest has been wonderful. I was worried about getting the turkey neck with the amount of weight I've lost and I use that daily and my neck looks great in my opinion.

@@Ken S. When I look at my profile under my user name it says "Aspiring evangelist" I have never put that in there, how can I remove that? -
I am a year out and have lost 71% of my excess weight so far and had no more shedding then I did pre op. I have taken Biotin since before surgery and made sure to meet 60+ grams of Protein per day as per my nut recommendations. I think everyone is just different and everyone's bodies are going to react differently to the trauma of major surgery and recovery.

When are you going to stop losing weight?
reree6898 replied to BrittneyMarie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep, I am still about 20-25 pounds from my goal weight range which would put me at a normal bmi but I hear from people at work how they are worried I'm going to get to thin and that I don't need to lose any more. -
