What are the weird and new foods you like post op?
reree6898 replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know like cottage cheese with salt and pepper. I know that's not real weird but I never could stand the site of it before. -
Facial before and afters
reree6898 replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my heaviest weight and today. I seem to have found my neck! Lol -
What brand are you using? I would like to find something new to try.

Make some wls friendly sides as well as the traditional ones like mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes for example, but still have your focus be on the protein when you eat.

Anyone feel like me?
reree6898 replied to BSWhip08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What you are feeling is normal. I am almost 14 months out from having my sleeve done and after I was approved I got very depressed at the reality that I faced in that I let myself get so far gone to need surgery to help me try to get to a normal weight. After surgery it was very hard for the first few weeks but as I healed and started to eat normal foods I felt better. Now being this far out and losing 165 pounds so far all of those negative emotions are just a distant memory and I am so grateful every day for the new lease on life I have been given. I would do it all again in a heartbeat. -

I don't know my goal weight...
reree6898 replied to Raymia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 38 and also 5"5'. My dr said his goal for me was 170, I am currently at 155. I have been heavy my entire life so this is all new for me. My heaviest weight was 376. In my pic below the after is at about 162 but that's the most recent pic I have. -
Is my goal weight achievable?
reree6898 replied to canadian_girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums

Approx 60% don't follow the post-op plan
reree6898 replied to Joypod's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
If this was said already I apologize, I haven't read all previous comments yet. I believe the issue is not that the post op plan is too hard or impossible but more that many people have serious food addictions and while they start off with the best intentions they lose steam and self sabotage after a while due to not dealing with the underlying issues. Also there are many who think that these surgeries are a quick fix. I know someone who had bypass done around the same time that I had my sleeve done. We had very similar stats to start with but I took this very seriously and her sadly not so much. I have gotten to 156lbs now and she still weighs over 200 lbs even though most people should lose faster with bypass. While I have been sticking to my plan she has been posting a lot a junk food and carb loaded meals that she has been eating on Facebook. She went into it in the beginning with the attitude of I'm having surgery to eat what I want and get skinny. -
Talk about losing motivation...
reree6898 replied to mcplu28's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You have done well on losing. Can you get another opinion from another surgeon though? Sleeve is safer surgery then bypass and less time under anesthesia. There are many people I have heard of around your weight that have had sleeve done safely. -
300s to under 170
reree6898 replied to magnificent2015's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have gone from 319 to 156 in 13 months with the sleeve. You just have to stick to what your told to do by your dr and nut. I took off two weeks and have an office job. I was glad for the two weeks to just rest and heal. I could have gone back after one week but for me it would have been hard. -
I am 13 months out from sleeve surgery. As I lost more weight I started to stand up for myself more about things that were not ok. While my husband was supportive in the beginning he decided to walk out in July. The divorce will be final in January. I don't think it's all related to my drastic weight loss but it played a part in it I feel.

A Year Already....My Story (w/Pictures)
reree6898 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Today marks one year since I had my sleeve done. This year has really just gone by so quickly and my life has changed so much in the last year. A year ago today I was 319 lbs and wearing a size 26/28 in pants. I didn't have any real medical issues yet but I knew it was just a matter of time before they would start. I was getting to be on the border of high blood pressure and I knew that I would also likely end up diabetic within a few years if things didn't change. My joints were hurting all the time and my back would spasm with pain. I had thought about having surgery for a long time but prior insurance wouldn't cover it and I had no way to pay out of pocket for it. I changed jobs a few years ago and found that it would be covered finally. I saw my surgeon for the first time in July of 2015 and was sleeved September 28th, 2015. In this year I have lost 157lbs and as of this morning weigh 162lbs and wear a size 10/12!!!! I have had many other changes and challenges this year that have tried to sabotage my success but through it all I have had to keep reminding myself that I have to do this for me and that I have to keep doing what I know is right and will carry me through and keep me healthy. My stats are as follows: Heaviest weight ever: 376lbs Surgery weight: 319lbs Current weight: 162lbs- 47 replies

8 days out can I eat eggs and turkey sausage?
reree6898 replied to amiskinnyyet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was given the ok to try foods at one week out for soft (not the mushy diet) moist things however you need to see what your dr wants you to do. As for the question about not vomiting, I am 13 months out and have never vomited once. -
Past life drive through foods...eye opener!
reree6898 replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a fast food addict several years ago. I would eat it for breakfast and lunch and several times a week for dinner. When I gave it up five years ago the first several days was a literal struggle as I drove past the Golden Arches with white knuckles from holding the steering wheel so tight and tears in my eyes fighting so hard to not drive through. I put an average days food into fitness pal one time just to get an idea of how many calories I was eating back then and it was mind blowing. It was over 3000 calories on average. I am so thankful I let all that go. -
Have you been given a PPI prescription? Often stomach acid feels like hunger in the early days and causes the bubbly rumble feeling that mimics hunger pains. Once you start real food you will feel a ton better.

How did you decide your goal weight, and did you reach it?
reree6898 replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I started off at 319. I don't do the whole BMI as an end all measurement either. My surgeon prefers to look at body fat percentage more then anything else. My dr said he would like to see me at 170. I am just over a year out from sleeve surgery and am 156lbs at the moment. My personal goal is 140 because I feel that is an average weight for my height of 5"4'. I have already reached the top side of the body fat percentage that my dr said is the healthy range at my one year check up. I think you are probably at a good target of the 160 for your height. -
Getting sleeved and having trach

I don't have a trach but someone I love dearly has lived with one for 14 years now. I hope all the best for you and that you have amazing results. -
Question on clothing sizes in "normal" stores
reree6898 replied to Heather I's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Every store is going to vary, I can wear an 8 in some jeans from Macy's but still a 12 in some from Walmart. I have had to not focus on the number on the tag and just go with what fits when I try it on and enjoy shopping in normal sizes at all. [emoji4] -

Am I over thinking clothes buying?
reree6898 replied to Broove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have gone with places like Ross, Burkes, and the Macy's clearance department. I only buy a few things at a time for work and church to get by until I reach goal weight. When at home I'm sure I look quite funny because I still wear my old 4X tops with leggings even though I am in a m/l top now. -
Experienced Sleevers please help! Any side Effects from getting the VSG?
reree6898 replied to GOM123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am thirteen months out from surgery. The only negative has been some reflux issues but that is controlled through taking a ppi. The positives have been wonderful, my blood pressure is great, my IBS has resolved, I am never short of breath anymore, I am active, I participate in life now, I could go on and on but to sum it up doing this and losing 163 lbs so far has given me my life back.
