I have read a few ppl say 3 months, is the new requirement. I have Medicare as well, but my surgeons office hasn't addressed this part with me.

Not on any diet...at the moment. Has anyone done their clearance appts? As for me, I have clearance from Psych and Cardio. Pulm said he cleared me for surgery, but not sure if he was waiting for sleep apnea test to send the letter to my surgeons office. I had my Endo done yesterday, they found polyps in my stomach(Biopsy done) and mild gastritis (being sent for H.Pylori testing). Waiting a week for test results. Nutrionist appt is next week.

Bayonne NJ here! Pre-op....Dr. Strom will be my surgeon if all goes as planned! ????
-
Past hiatal hernia and fundoplication surgery done back in 1991. He has to go in and see what was done, because my surgery records are no longer available.

Hudson Co. here!! Surgeon will be Dr. Strom. He gave me 10/7. At this time we all don't know which surgery I will have (sleeve or band) until he actually goes in. I am hoping it's at least one or the other...would hate to wake up and be told I couldn't get none done! This will be a long 3 months, lol.

Documented Weight loss Attempt
embernj replied to embernj's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will have to try that @@hockeyfan7 . Thanks!! -
Hello Hellooo I was wondering what is considered documented weight loss attempts by a Dr.? Does it mean, pcp, nutrionist, or surgeon? I know some insurance companies require this (3-6 months). But my surgeon didn't list it in my pre op requisites. He did want only 1 visit to the nutrionist. Now, I don't know if I should start seeing my pcp monthly, recording my weight, so they have it on file. I just don't want my surgery date of October 2015 to become January 2016...because I needed to track my "weight loss attempt". I have been doing weight watchers for 6+months and have prior records of my weight watcher's attempts, but they weren't something my Pcp followed me up with at all.

I will join you in the October list! I was actually looking into getting it done with ALighterMe, but I found a surgeon in my state willing to try either a sleeve or lap band. I have to wait til the actual surgery to see what he can do for me, if anything at all. Im listed for October 7...unless we need to reschedule due to insurance reasons.

Thats my fear with the lap band, having to revise to a sleeve. But I guess at this point I will take whatever he can do for me. He won't know how my scar tissue is, until he goes in. I'm afraid to wake up and be told that I couldn't get anything done.

Hello everyone. I just had my first appt with my bariatric surgeon. I truly thought I would get a no for surgery due to my past hiatal hernia surgery that I had when I was 8, im 31 now. The surgeon decided that he would suggest a lap band or a sleeve depending on what he uncovered during surgery. He scheduled me for October 7th and I will find out then if he was able to even do the surgery. It's a "Let's open and see". I am praying I can get the sleeve. This will be a long 3 1/2 months.
